Don Callis commented on rumors/speculation that Chris Jericho could be coming to Impact Wrestling now that Callis has a position in the company creatively. Callis mentioned that if Jericho was coming to the company, that would be news to him and he pointed out that he doesn’t put a lot of stock into rumors.

“I’ve read a lot of rumors about different talents. There is the one you mentioned (Rey Mysterio). I’ve heard about Chris Jericho which, if he is, I wish he’d tell me since we’ve been good friends for so many years. I don’t put a lot of stock in rumors. People look at who is available out there and fans think about who they’d LIKE to see in there. I totally get it but I don’t put a lot of stock in rumors.”

While Jericho isn’t expected to work this year’s Royal Rumble or WrestleMania events, there is speculation that he will be working another New Japan Pro Wrestling event later this year.

vince McMahon has sold $100 million worth of WWE stock to fund his new Alpha Entertainment company, which is expected to focus on football. McMcahon also filed five XFL-related trademarks last week.

The SEC Form that was filed for the 3.34 million shares of stock noted the following:

“On December 21, 2017, Vincent K. McMahon (“Mr. McMahon”), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (the “Company”), sold 3,340,000 shares of the Company’s Class A common stock in a block trade made in accordance with the provisions of Rule 144 of the Securities Act of 1933, as amended. Mr. McMahon executed the sale primarily to fund a separate entity from the Company, Alpha Entertainment LLC, which Mr. McMahon established to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football. Mr. McMahon has informed the Company that he has no current plan to sell additional shares of the Company’s stock and that he intends to continue in his capacity as the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for the foreseeable future.

The shares sold by Mr. McMahon represent approximately 4.3% of the Company’s total outstanding shares of Class A and Class B common stock. After the sale, Mr. McMahon beneficially owns 32,193,375 shares of the Company’s Class B common stock, which represents approximately 82.8% of the Company’s total voting power and approximately 41.8% of the Company’s total outstanding shares of common stock.”

The XFL trademarks were filed back on December 16th even though WWE filed for the trademarks earlier this year. These new registrations are through Alpha Entertainment.

Edge and Christian open today’s show speaking about the upcoming Chris Jericho/Kenny Omega match at WrestleKingdom. Christian thinks this is a very exciting thing for the wrestling business, and he thinks the business could use more stuff like this. He thinks it’s a good time to be a wrestling fan right now, with NJPW raising their stock since they started airing their product on AXSTV in the US.

Edge points out that WrestleKingdom is a stacked event so WWE really needs to step up their game to ensure that WrestleMania is must-see this year. He points out that it’d be amazing if Jericho worked both WrestleKingdom and WrestleMania within a couple of months of each other.

Speaking about A.J. Styles’ WWE Title win on last week’s Smackdown Live, Edge thought this was ‘hotshot’ booking. He thought WWE rushed this Title change but Christian says he liked it because nobody expected it. He thought Mahal had a good Title run as a legitimate heel, and Styles was the right guy to take the Title from him.
