Austin welcomes Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake to the show.

Beefcake informs that he was working for about 7 years when he got the call to work for WWE. Vince McMahon Jr. had taken over the company from his father by this point, and he quickly established a good working relationship with him. He was very intimidated by all the McMahons at first, but after getting to know them he had a great relationship with all of them.

Austin asks Beefcake about the origins of his name and gimmick. Beefcake informs that his initial name was supposed to be ‘Baron Beefcake’, and his ring gear would include a top hat and tuxedo. As he, McMahon and other WWE officials were brainstorming ideas someone suggested ‘Brutus’ and that’s the name that stuck.

He admits that he wasn’t fond of the ‘Brutus Beefcake’ name. Working for WWE was his big break and he feared that with a name like that, people would laugh at him and wouldn’t take him seriously. McMahon didn’t like the name either, but they proceeded with that nonetheless.

Soon ‘The Barber’ idea came about, and that’s what really got people’s attention in his opinion. With a crazy name like “Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake” he knew that he had to act crazy in order to live the gimmick. He thinks that McMahon fell in love with the character when he started to see the fans’ reaction to him.

While speaking to the Arm Drag Takedown, Charlotte Flair talked about her divorce and revealed how people would make fun of her when she first started out in WWE.

“It really got to me when I first started in WWE that people would make fun of me being divorced. My dad has been divorced so many times. I don’t know why it bothered me. I don’t know whether it’s because I hate failing or I was embarrassed or comparing myself to my female peers — I don’t know. But to just get that off my chest, explain what I’ve been through or what I’ve learned, [how] I’ve come out a better person. I think that was the hardest part to share.”

For those not aware, Charlotte married former Impact Wrestling talent Bram back in 2013. After two year’s the marriage dissolved and they got divorced.

While speaking to PWInsider, Nikki Bella claimed that the Total Divas reality TV show started the women’s revolution within WWE. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Nikki on if she believes Total Divas gets enough credit for helping cultivate and grow the fan demographic for female WWE Superstars: “Absolutely not, I don’t think it does at all. What is unfortunate is that when Total Divas was succeeding and we became a hit reality show, they let people with a mic in the ring just bash it and us Total Divas never got a response. So, with the fans, it began to give Total Divas a bad name, ‘Oh, they are just reality stars.’ Actually, while the girls who aren’t on the reality show are just wrestling, us girls on the reality show are wrestling, are filming, are never sleeping, going to appearances, making sure that the world knows how amazing women wrestlers are. So, I don’t feel Total Divas gets enough credit because the words ‘reality show’ has ruined it for people. It think certain people also, characters for the company, have ruined it as well out of pure jealousy. I’ll admit that.”

Bella on how the show helped start the women’s revolution: “I think [Total Divas] helped start the women’s revolution. Total Divas [led to] more women started coming to our show, like, ‘I gotta check this out.’ I remember when Brie was fighting Stephanie McMahon, so many women showed up because they were like, ‘I can’t believe she’s fighting her boss, Oh My Gosh!’ It was crazy for them to even imagine, like, ‘She’s Gonna hit her? Like, This is nuts!’ and so I think Total Divas has done so much for women’s wrestling. It was the first time that we got an hour of TV to ourselves, to really showcase what women do.”

Bella on the influx of fans and support due to the series: “It happened so quickly and so fast. I want to say that when seasons one and two came out, both of which we were lucky in that they had 16 episodes each, after that season two….Bam! Everyone wanted to know Natalya, Brie Bella, Naomi, Ariane. Everyone was like, ‘Who are these girls?’ and when we go to events, there would be women wrestlers who weren’t on the show and were getting more TV time than us and [the fans] wouldn’t care about them. They would be, ‘I want to see those Total Divas girls. Can you bring them back?’”

For many of you that tuned into the WWE Network to watch the SummerSlam Kickoff Pre-show matches, you may have noticed that the arena looked nearly empty.

According to our correspondents at Sunday’s event, fans were not allowed to enter into the building until 5PM, which is the exact time that Kickoff show started. The Hardy Boyz & Jason Jordan vs. Miztourage match started around 5:30ish and a vast majority of the fans were still outside the arena waiting to get in.

While answering call-ins from listeners on The Steve Austin Show, Steve Austin was asked who he like to complete against one person who he’s never faced.

“I gotta say Hulk Hogan, because one of the biggest draws in the history of the business,” said Austin.

“Everybody thought that match between ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan should have happened a couple years back and never did. Just for whatever reason, I didn’t feel like stepping back in the ring, I think Hogan was ready to go, but I wasn’t and so, I never got a chance to wrestle that guy and it would’ve been fun to be in the ring with him.”

He continued, “I was watching an old match on YouTube between Paul Orndorff and Hulk Hogan, and I watched how Hulk Hogan was down there on that mat and he was just selling his a** off. Paul Orndorff was just kicking the snot out of him, and then finally, finally, finally after all this heat, started making that trademark comeback… He started firing up that comeback, the people started going crazy, and I realized that guy wasn’t born on top, he worked his tail off to get to the top. So I’d say Hulk Hogan right off jump street.”
