Many are speculating that Brock Lesnar may have been delivering legitimate punches to Braun Strowman’s head during the WWE Universal Title match at Sunday’s Royal Rumble event.

The incident occurred after Braun connected a stiff knee to Brock’s head. Brock immediately got up and connected with some blows that many are saying were real. The audio feed had to be silenced multiple times after it seemed like the two were taking shoot punches at each other.

It was reported earlier this week that Daniel Bryan was one of the top three favorites to win the upcoming men’s Royal Rumble match. Several betting sites reportedly had a huge shift after news got out that WWE creative actually pitched the idea of Bryan winning and individuals within the company placed bets on his victory.

George Elek, the spokesperson for Oddschecker, commented on the situation and claimed that their “sources” told them that the Bryan and Shane McMahon storyline will result in a fairy-tale return and victory in the match.

“Fan favorite Daniel Bryan has seen a plethora of attention, despite apparently not being medically clear to compete. There may be something in this story, however, with our sources claiming that the storyline between Bryan and Shane O Mac coming to fruition and resulting in a fairy-tale return win, for the constantly over superstar.”

Survivor Series is a little less than a month away and several big money matches have already been announced. Champions will face champions. This is a rare occurrence.

Ideally these matches should be dream matches. The matches we won’t see too often because the opponents are on opposite brands. That’s not the case for this year. If this does not go well, this year’s event will be hated more than Survivor Series 2015. That’s saying something. But what exactly is so bad about the card?

The Matches Sound Awful

Most of the Champion vs. Champion matches sound dreadful. The only one I’m looking forward to is Shield vs. Usos.

I feel it’s important for me to say that I am a Baron Corbin fan. That said, whoever thought of this match-up needs to be strung up by their gonads. Baron Corbin v. The Miz? That’s a match that will put 13 thousand people to sleep. I enjoy both guys, but they are not meant to be paired together. I may love Cheetos and chocolate cake, but I’ll be damned if I put them together.

Both men are heels, and hated heels at that. While both are capable and competent wrestlers, they’re not the most exciting. They’re at their best when they feed off a more energetic person. You don’t pair them up together. The match has a very high chance of sucking, and the audience isn’t gonna care too much because they’re supposed to hate both guys.

Then there’s Alexa Bliss v. Natalya. While it’s not as unappealing as Corbin – Miz, it also doesn’t sound particularly good. The thought of cake-flavored milk is not the worst thing ever, but I doubt anyone would want to try it. Same goes for this match.

Alexa Bliss, while she has improved leaps and bounds, is still not the best wrestler. While Natalya is a veteran who grew up in the industry, I highly doubt that she can carry Alexa Bliss to a palatable match.

I’m not gonna say anything about Jinder Mahal v. Brock Lesnar because everyone’s already said what there is to be said.

Who knows, though? Maybe Corbin and Miz will put on a showstopper. Maybe they’ll give WWE their first 5 Star match in 6 years. Highly unlikely. But there is an obvious solution to this issue.

Have Someone Lose Their Title

I know it says so in the title. But yes, this is the solution. Unless WWE wants to win a Guiness world record for “Most People Asleep in a Stadium at the Same Time”, something needs to change.

I do not care if Roman Reigns beats the Miz a week before Survivor Series and pulls double duty as a captain and a champion. Heck, make it Jason Jordan or Matt Hardy. Or have Sin Cara beat Baron Corbin. I don’t care if Corbin and Miz win their titles back. Just don’t let them fight.

Smackdown also has the option of the Women’s Money in the Bank contract, but Alexa Bliss – Carmella doesn’t sound so good either.

Yes, I know I’m complaining a lot. I would like to apologize for that. I don’t even know why I care so much about this.

All that said, I hope the traditional 5 v. 5 Survivor Series matches are a lot of fun.

While participating in a Q&A in Paris, Lita revealed that there had been talks about possibly debuting tag team titles for the Women’s division.

“There has been talks of tag titles for the Women’s Division and I think that I love that they first introduced the MITB briefcase, that’s been a long time coming and that adds an element of surprise within the title picture.”

He continued, “I would love to see these rumored tag titles appear sooner than later, but for that to happen, I hope they bring up these women that are already at NXT or some women they’ve seen on the Mae Young Classic and expand the roster. “

We noted earlier this week that Paige has been preparing for her in-ring return at the WWE Performance Center. Jim Ross commented on her return in a new blog entry on JrsBarBq.com and mentioned that Paige has too much talent to not be fully invested in WWE.

“Happy to see WWE’s Paige back in the Performance Center getting ready to make her return to the ring on the main roster,” JR said. “The talented, young Brit has too much talent to not be fully invested in the WWE, which can feature her skills better than any promotion on the planet. Plus, earn Paige the most cash.”

While no official return date has been announced for her return, Paige is expected to return to the SmackDown Live brand.

It was noted a while back via Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE was working on plans to have Ronda Rousey face either Charlotte or Stephanie McMahon at next year’s WrestleMania event.

While speaking to 107.7 The Bone with Baby Huey & Bimbo Jimbo, Charlotte was asked about possibly being Ronda’s first opponent if she does decide to wrestle inside of a squared circle for WWE. Charlotte responded, “Absolutely! For sure, and I think it’s great she was around the Mae Young Classic whether she’s interested in coming to WWE or not.”

She continued, “It just creates buzz for the women’s division, and any time there’s more eyes outside of our regular audience that’s put on the women’s division is great.”

As seen on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, Bobby Roode made his debut as a babyface in a match against Aiden English.

Dave Meltzer discussed Roode’s status on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and indicated that Roode might be moved into John Cena’s empty babyface slot on the SmackDown Live brand. Initially it was being speculated that he would be moving into the place of Baron Corbin as one of the top heels on the brand, however that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Meltzer also indicated that his entrance theme music could be the one big thing standing in Roode’s way that could keep him from drawing the heat he needs.

“The problem with him is well it’s not a problem — if they want him as a heel he’s gotta ditch the music because that’s total babyface music for life. So when it comes time for him to be a heel I think what he should do is just say ‘I hate this music, it sucks.’ And people would be so pissed at him that they couldn’t sing that music and I think at that point he’ll be a really good heal. But not with that music.”

Recently, Daniel Bryan appeared on E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness hosted by former World Champions, Edge and Christian. Interestingly enough, Bryan revealed tons of details regarding his retirement from last year.

Bryan revealed that he was originally cleared by his own doctor but WWE made a decision to send him to two more doctors who were of their choosing. However, Bryan was cleared by these two doctors as well.

Afterwards, WWE sent him to Los Angeles for some ‘experimental testing’ which apparently showed that Bryan had a lesion in his brain. Following this, Vince McMahon forced Bryan to write up a retirement speech, which he did after being convinced by the WWE that it was indeed for the best.

Post-retirement, Bryan was asked by one of the doctors who cleared him about the reason behind his retirement. Hence, Bryan let him know that it was because of the lesion that was found in his brain. The doctor, however, told him that the term lesion was very “vague” and that it only meant that something  “may” be there.

He also revealed that the tests indicated that his reflexes were comparatively slower than that of the other athletes, though they were still faster than that of an average man. Furthermore, he revealed that upon testing his brain looked like that of a college football player and his time off from wrestling had healed it to the point that it looked like the brain of an average person who has had no history of head trauma.

It was previously reported that Enzo Amore had backstage heat on him following an incident on a bus that ultimately got him kicked off. The belief is that Enzo isn’t well-liked on the main roster as he portrays the guy you sell on television 24/7 and many find this annoying.

In addition to him being annoying he also brags about how much money he makes all the time. There was an incident where he was on the phone with someone talking loudly and bragging about how much money he makes while also saying negative things about the business.

There has been talk about what the company could do with him moving forward. One idea discussed is to send him back to NXT, where he could be a superstar on that show and help sell tickets to road shows. The other idea being discussed is to move him to the 205 Live brand, where the feeling is he’s a guy that fans react to on a show which struggles to get any fan reaction.
