Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Paige & Del Rio Drama, Disco Inferno in WWE, Breaking Down Triple H’s Success, More!

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane and Glenn Gilbertti (Disco Inferno).

Lane asks Russo and Gilbertti for their opinions on the rumours that Paige was sitting ringside at Slammiversary last weekend wearing a mask in order to protect her identity. Gilbertti says that he can’t lower his IQ enough to discuss this on an intellectual level. Russo says that if that was Paige, it’s easy to tell that this was a desperate move by her in order to get out of her contract.

Paige clearly wants to be with her boyfriend Del Rio in Global Force Wrestling, so Russo doesn’t understand why both parties can’t get on the same page here and make that release happen. WWE has actually referenced Paige’s leaked sex tape on WWE the last couple of weeks, but then they removed those references from the replays.

Gilbertti doesn’t understand this because the average age of their fans is 54, yet they’re still acting like they have to market to a young demographic. Russo says that if this was the attitude era, Del Rio would have been signed after Paige’s tape was released, and the storyline would have consisted of Del Rio and Paige accusing Xavier Woods of releasing that tape. This would have been a great storyline and everyone would have been talking about it.

Injury Suffered at Sunday’s Slammiversary Event

PWInsider reports that Jeremy Borash suffered 25-35 puncture wounds on his wrists and palms after hitting the top rope splash onto thumbtacks during the match with Abyss vs. Scott Steiner and Josh Mathews at Sunday’s Slammiversary event. After the match, Borash received medical attention and had his hands taped up.

Speaking of Borash and Mathews, they are expected to be returning to the announce table for commentary beginning with this week’s TV tapings.

Main Event of Tonight’s Slammiversary Spoiled

The main event of tonight’s Slammiversary event has been spoiled by the cable guide listing for Thursday’s episode of Impact. The listing reveals the following:

“It’s all about the fallout from Slammiversary. Alberto El Patron will hold a celebration in the ring with a guest of honor, but an unwelcomed visitor makes their way to the IMPACT Zone. LAX announces their newest member, and things go south for Sonjay Dutt. Also: the Super X Cup ’17 will make a return.”

The listing above indicates that Alberto El Patron will leave the event as both Impact and GFW World Champion.

TNA Impact Changing Their Name Again

It looks like the once “TNA” name is once again getting a new name change.

With the news of the merger between TNA/Impact Wrestling and Global Force Wrestling, Tenessean.com reports that this will eventually lead to the company being re-branded as GFW (Global Force Wrestling) moving forward.

The belief is that their weekly television show that airs on Pop TV will keep the “Impact” name and the headquarters will remain in Nashville, TN. Sunday’s Slammiversary show is being considered a ‘re-launch’ of the company’s pay-per-view business.

Bellator Fighter Appearing at Sunday’s Slammiversary Event

It was revealed in a 30-minute preview video for Sunday’s Slammiversary event that Bellator’s Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will be in Lashley’s corner at the event. As noted, Lashley will take on Alberto El Patron for the unified World Championship on the show.
