Austin welcomes Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake to the show for Pt. 2 of his interview.

Austin mentions that he was never a big fan of flying. He’d often have a couple of drinks before boarding his flights so he could fall asleep on board. He’d also do a ‘pilot check’ before taking his seat to ensure that the pilots seemed fit to fly the plane. Beefcake informs that he’d do that same thing, taking a few minutes before taking his seat to go and say hello the pilots and ensure that they were sober and fit to fly.

Beefcake talks about his experience working with The Dynamite Kid and the British Bulldog. He informs that they were great guys, but they were somewhat green when he began working with them. He couldn’t believe how strong both of those guys were, and his biggest task when working with them was just getting them to slow down.

Beefcake informs that he remembers one night at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto Canada, when he worked a tag team match against The Bulldogs. All four men in the match that night got colour (bled) and that was extremely rare, especially for a house show (non-televised event).

Austin says he’s never see a tag team match where all four men got colour. He looks back at how common is was for wrestlers to cut themselves and bleed years ago, given all the information we have now about aids and other diseases. He points out that wrestlers never thought twice about cutting themselves back then, and it was common place for competitors to be bleeding all over each other during matches.

As seen on WWE television this week, Goldust wrestled a cruiserweight match on RAW and then again on this week’s episode of 205 Live.

Dave Meltzer discussed Goldust’s status on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and indicated that Goldust will be working 205 Live events moving forward, even though he doesn’t meet the weight requirements and clearly isn’t a cruiserweight. The belief is that any established RAW talent working 205 Live has more chances of bringing in viewership and increasing ticket sales than someone who only works the 205 Live shows.

Ross welcomes Josh Barnett to the show.

Barnett and Ross will voiceover the NJPW WrestleKingdom 12 event in January and they’re both very exited about the opportunity to do so. Barnett informs that he never watches matches or clips before calling the action because he wants to watch the action for the first time as he’s making the call. Ross agrees entirely and says he does the exact same thing.

Barnett says if he was Conor McGregor he’d definitely fight again. For him, having made the money that McGregor has recently would take the pressure off and he’d just be able to fight for the love of fighting. Perhaps, McGregor has different motivations however, and he mighn’t be interested in fighting unless he’s paid what he feels he’s deserved.

He also wouldn’t be surprised to see Conor McGregor make an appearance in WWE in the near future, but he hopes that McGregor appreciates and respects the business if he’s lucky enough to work for WWE at some point.

Barnett also thinks Ronda Rousey will make a great addition to WWE’s roster and he feels her training in Judo will make for a natural transition to professional wrestling.

In an interview with NewsHub, New Zealand, WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair talks about a number of wrestling related topics. Here are a few highlights from the interview:

Charlotte revealed that being a professional wrestler felt “natural” and that she immediately realised her dream of making a name for herself in the business. However, the “catalyst” in all of this was the death of her brother, Reid Flair.

Flair went on to talk about her bond and relationship with her fellow “Four Horsewomen”:

“I feel that the four of us will always have a special bond from coming up together through NXT, having created so many firsts together. When the four of us were in NXT together we were fighting tooth and nail to make a big difference – to have women mean something in wrestling. Sasha and Bayley stealing the show at the first ever NXT event in Brooklyn. It was amazing. Together we have had all these amazing moments, and I know personally for me those three women are who I looked up to when I started because I wanted to be as good at this as them. The four of us will always share those moments we had.”

Flair also revealed her thoughts on the possibility of going up against former UFC Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania, saying that it would be a special Mania Moment. However, Flair has another very special moment that she would like to create at the Shows of Shows with someone very close to her…

“Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey will create a special Wrestlemania moment, but in saying that another great moment would be my best friend Becky Lynch winning the Royal Rumble and facing me for the title – so many possibilities. I just hope that whoever wins has to face me for the Smackdown Women’s championship at Wrestlemania.”

Finally, Flair ended the interview by making a bold statement regarding the Women’s Revolution:

“With the announcement of the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match, I feel the women’s revolution is complete.”

Russo thinks the deterioration of RAW over the last few years has a lot to do with Vince McMahon’s inability to write a consistent wrestling show. When Russo wrote for WWE back in the day, McMahon would often take Russo’s script and add some subtleties to it in order to make it better. McMahon was very good at adding the finishing touches to scripts, but he’s unable to write shows from start to finish week after week.

Russo mentions that not only will WWE Superstars have to perform live on RAW tonight on Christmas Day, WWE recently announced a tour from Dec. 25th-Dec. 30th so these performers are going to be on the road from now until New Years Day. He thinks that’s completely unnecessary and he doesn’t understand why WWE just didn’t tape RAW for this week.

Richards agrees with that, and points out that the Christmas season has become all about greed, with large companies and corporations taking advantage of their employees in order to boost their bottom line at this time of the year.

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore.

Lawler opens today’s show speaking about WWE’s plans to host shows on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. He says he’s sure they’ll put off some great shows but he feels bad for the guys and girls who have to work on Christmas Day.

Lawler talks about the origins of the term ‘dirt sheet’. He informs that the term ‘dirt sheet’ originated from the fact that the initial news was written on old dirty sheets of paper. He was never a fan of the dirt sheet writers because they profited from exposing people’s private lives.

He adds that nobody in the wrestling business liked Dave Meltzer back in the day. As the years have passed the writers have become more accepted and there are hundreds of people doing it now so there’s no point in singling out Meltzer and hating him.

Lawler says he had a lot of fun working on XFL broadcasts back in the day. He still thinks that the XFL could have worked if Vince McMahon was allowed to run it on his own, without the interference of Dick Ebersol and NBC executives. The XFL needed to be different than the NFL, and McMahon tried to accomplish this by combining the worlds of football and sports entertainment.

Tyrus recently spoke with Arm Drag Takedown about his time with Impact Wrestling and his departure from the company. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Impact not wanting Tyrus to work for Jeff Jarrett when GFW was still a separate company: “They didn’t want me working for Jeff. Basically, it came down to either stay with Impact or I could go with Global. I was making more with Impact, and Global didn’t have the resources to pay me what I was making.”

Jarrett attempting to get Tyrus to come to GFW: “He was basically saying it was better for me to come to Global, because Impact was about to fold. He was very adamant about that. Two weeks later, at the TV tapings, guess whose ass is there working the shows? Jeff Jarrett. I was like, ‘B—-, [are] you crazy?’ Who does that? Check it: If I would have quit and taken money out of my family’s mouths, went and worked there and then, ‘Oh, we’re going to have to go work Impact…’ How would that have gone?”

Leaving Impact once Jarrett started working there again: “When Jeff Jarrett came along — because him and I have an uncomfortable history — I just wasn’t comfortable with the management. … Unless [Jarrett] and I were going to have a sit down – which just wasn’t going to happen – I knew this was not going to be a spot for me. I just wasn’t comfortable with it.”

On one of his radio shows last week Bryan Alvarez from Wrestling Observer was adamant in thinking that the current angle with Kenny Omega is going to make Chris Jericho a bigger star than anything he could have done in WWE. Jericho apparently said this himself as an explanation for why he did this match.

Russo points out that Jericho and Alvarez are right in this case because nobody is watching Monday Night RAW. In Russo’s opinion, this was Jericho’s way of saying “Nobody’s watching WWE” without getting in trouble with Vince McMahon and other WWE officials.

At another point this week Alvarez tweeted out that Sami Zayn is an incredible heel. Russo says that Alvarez clearly hasn’t seen a good heel before because Jake Roberts was an incredible heel. Contrarily, Zayn is a cab driver look-alike that comes off like Woody Allen. Russo says that Alvarez needs to get his head out of his ass.

Russo says that incredible heels should give kids nightmares and they should always be a credible threat to win matches. In Russo’s opinion, Zayn can’t accomplish either of those things right now.

Russo informs that he worked on the debut Aro Lucha show this past weekend and he calls it the greatest experience he’s had in the wrestling business. He hates having to leave his house to travel for wrestling shows or conventions, but this show didn’t feel like work to him for one minute.

By all accounts everyone who attended this show had a great time and the reviews online have been great. Unfortunately some dirt sheet writers still had some criticisms, and Russo simply doesn’t understand why they’d want to tear down the show after the promoters spent a lot of time and effort guaranteeing that their debut show would be a hit.

Lane assumes that these dirt sheet writers criticized the show because Russo was involved and these people love to bash anything that Russo’s involved with. Russo admits that this might be true but if it is, that’s a very sad situation.

Moving into his thoughts about this week’s episodes of RAW and Smackdown Live, Russo says that WWE’s two flagship shows have basically become televised house shows at this point. Lane agrees and thinks that the last three weeks of programming have been particularly poor.

Lane opens today’s show by mentioning that WWE’s Rich Swann has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and battery after a weekend conflict with his wife. There are conflicting statements from Swann, his wife and the witnesses, but apparently Swann and his wife were returning home from one of his wife’s wrestling shows and Swann was critiquing her match.

From there the details get blurry but several witnesses said they saw Swann’s wife exit the car followed by Swann, and the car actually rolled slowly into a nearby light pole. Swann argued that he was just trying to get his wife to return to the car so they could get home because she had their only GPS on her phone and he wouldn’t be able to get home without it.

Swann has been suspended indefinitely by WWE due to their zero tolerance policy regarding domestic violence, and Vito points out that while Swann hasn’t actually been proven guilty of anything yet, the public’s perception of him has already taken a huge hit. Whether Swann is guilty of the alleged crimes he’s charged with or not, he’s already been proven guilty in the public eye.
