The Miz is being advertised for next week’s episode of RAW from the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI. The Miz has been off WWE television filming the next installment of The Marine alongside Becky Lynch and Shawn Michaels. Michaels mentioned back on December 2nd that there would be three weeks of filming, which would put his return at next week.

As previously reported, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will also be returning on next week’s show. Check back here on Monday for our live play-by-play coverage of the event.

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore.

Moore opens today’s show by mentioning that HBO is preparing to release an Andre the Giant documentary. Lawler knew that already because HBO actually came to his house and his bar in Memphis and he filmed a bunch of material that might be used on that documentary. Just from talking to the filmmakers, Lawler is sure that this is going to be a very good film and he’s really looking forward to watching it.

Moore mentions that Lawler was never a big partier, and he’d often drive home alone late at night after his matches were completed. Lawler confirms that, and says he’d always listen to the Cleveland Indians game on the radio on his drives home and he actually credits that with keeping him alive over the years. Some of those late night trips were over 200 miles, and he mentions that he probably would have fallen asleep on multiple occasions if it weren’t for the company of the Indians game.

Lawler says he was shocked to hear that Jim Johnston was released by WWE this past week. He says that Johnston has been invaluable to WWE over the years and has composed the themes of Superstars such as The Undertaker, Kane, Mankind and plenty more. Lawler thinks WWE is going to miss Johnston and agrees with Moore that Johnson deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

He adds that if WWE inducts Johnston into the Hall of Fame they should think about inducting Jimmy Hart as well because when WWE started using music, Hart actually came up with most of the original themes including Shawn Michaels’ theme.

The reason Becky Lynch was viciously attacked by Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live was a way to write her off WWE television.

We noted earlier today that Becky Lynch will be apart of the next installment of The Marine movie franchise along with The Miz and Shawn Michaels. This angle was in place as a way for her to take time off from weekly WWE programming.

As of this writing, there is no timeline for her return but we will keep you updated.

WWE Studios Marine franchise is getting yet another sequal. It was announced today that Becky Lynch, The Miz, and Shawn Michaels will star in The Marine 6: Close Quarters. The film is scheduled to begin filming in early 2018, with a release date tentatively scheduled or May or 2018.

The WWE RAW tag team ranks are about to receive a boost. According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Scott Dawson is scheduled to make his return sometime in the middle of December. Dawson of The Revival tore his bicep back in August, the second set-back for The Revival since they have been called up to the main roster. Dash Wilder suffered a broken jaw in April.

The Hardy’s were credited with injuring Dawson via WWE, so it will be interesting to see if they pick up a feud upon Dawson’s return.

HBK Hits Sweet Chin Music

Shawn Michaels is scheduled to be part of tonight’s NXT TakeOver show in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Michaels and Johnny Gargano are set for an “ab off,” whatever that is.

Either way, Michaels has been on the road with the NXT crew this weekend in Texas, and he got physically involved in a Friday night match in San Antonio. He was the special referee for an NXT title match between Adam Cole and Drew McIntyre. Kyle O’Reilly tried to interfere on behalf of his partner, Adam Cole, and received the Sweet Chin Music for his efforts.

Bret Hart recently spoke with Calgary Herald. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Punching Vince McMahon backstage after the Montreal Screwjob: “It was only one punch but it was such a beautiful punch. Of all the things I’ve ever done in my life, it was the sweetest, most beautiful punch anyone could ever throw. It was just amazing. The whole memory of it brings a smile to my face. I just maybe wish that I’d mopped the floor with Triple H and Shawn Michaels both at the same time right after. That would have been ideal. … I think what it really amounted to was a case of Vince — and he’s a very macho kind of guy — he wanted to back me down in front of everybody in the dressing room and show that he was the boss and save face. So he took it upon himself to put himself in a physical situation, which was laughable. But he put himself in that situation and I knocked him out.”

Being lied to by people he worked with: “To be lied to and screwed over legitimately by people that I had worked so hard for, I think it’s always been a black eye on them, not me. Everything I said was true, everything that I said happened, it happened the way it did.”

Goals when he got into wrestling: “I got into wrestling to make some money, see the world, and meet girls. I accomplished that. Those were my initial goals. When I look back on everything, I’m really amazed by my career. I had so many wonderful guys that I worked with and great matches, that’s what was most important to me — and the fans. I had a great fan base across the country and around the world.”

Could we see an NXT title change just before the next TakeOver in Houston? WWE announced NXT Champion Drew McIntyre will defend his title against The Undisputed ERA’s Adam Cole on Friday, November 17th, during a non-televised live event in San Antonio. Fans attending the November 17 live event will also get to see a WWE Hall of Famer serve as special guest referee of the match: “The Heartbreak Kid” (HBK) Shawn Michaels. Tickets for the show are currently available and is just one day before NXT TakeOver: WarGames in Houston.

Following the announcement, Cole tweeted that the match is quite a way to meet HBK.

The NXT TakeOver: War Games event will include the War Games stipulation made famous in NWA and WCW. The War Games match includes teams fighting in two rings while enclosed in a steel cage. The first War Games match took place 30 years ago at NWA’s Great American Bash tour in 1987.

NXT TakeOver: War Games will also crown the new NXT Women’s Champion following Asuka relinquishing the title last month and moving to the RAW brand. The new women’s champion will be decided in a Fatal Four-Way match, although currently three competitors have been confirmed and aired on broadcast: Kairi Sane, Peyton Royce, and Ember Moon. The fourth competitor will be the winner of a Battle Royal airing next Wednesday, October 25, on the WWE Network.
