WWE could be setting up Sami Zayn vs. Tye Dillinger for tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live. As seen at Sunday’s Royal Rumble event, Zayn & Owens attacked Dillinger as he was was making his entrance into The Rumble match. Zayn ended up taking his spot.

Zayn and Dillinger had the following exchange on Twitter ahead of tonight’s show:

Shane McMahon announced before SmackDown Live went off the air tonight that he will be the special guest referee in Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn’s match at WWE Clash of Champions. If Owens & Zayn lose the match, they will be fired from WWE.

Ryback discusses the news that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been sent home from WWE’s UK tour. Apparently Owens and Zayn failed to execute their role correctly during last week’s Smackdown Live match between Zayn and Kofi Kingston. Ryback says he looked at the film from that match and he didn’t see much there to back up those reports.

He thinks that part of this story is definitely getting blown out of proportion, and he’ll be shocked if it’s confirmed that those two guys blatantly ignored orders. He says that performers aren’t going to ignore McMahon’s orders on purpose because it’s basically career suicide. Wrestling only works because the performers can trust each other, and once that trust disappears the business is in trouble.

He adds that as a performer, you can argue with Vince McMahon all day about certain creative decisions. However, once he puts his foot down and gives you your final instructions for that night, you have to do what your told.

More Details Emerge About Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens Situation

As we reported yesterday, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were sent home from the current WWE European Tour after the SmackDown Live tapings from Manchester on Tuesday. The story seems to keep changing a bit every time someone adds to it, but basically, the new information stays in line with them not doing what they were supposed to do after Sami’s match with Kofi Kingston.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that it was the fact that Owens and Zayn left immediately following the match instead of staying around to get beat up by The New Day that caused the issues. The two men were told to leave the arena, go back to the hotel, and return to the US. Meltzer says that some sources are saying it was a simple case of miscommunication.

The status of the two men is up in the air right now. Neither has a role for Survivor Series as of yet, and they could be back as soon as SmackDown Live on Tuesday. We will just have to wait and see if anything else happens.

Roman Reigns Return Update

It’s being reported that Roman Reigns is cleared to return to action and will be at RAW on Monday. It’s expected that WWE will announce The Shield vs The New Day for Survivor Series on Monday, as well.

As previously reported, both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were both kicked off the on-going UK Tour and sent back to the United States. While Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that the decision had to do with the Owens & Sami refusing to “feed” for the New Day, it appears there is more to the story than that.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that the decision to send the two home was approved by Vince McMahon. The belief is that the two “went into business for themselves” during their on-camera work during Tuesday’s show.

Barrasso wrote, “In a decision approved by Vince McMahon, both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were kicked off the remainder of WWE’s overseas tour and sent home after yesterday’s SmackDown in Manchester, England for conduct deemed detrimental to the WWE.

Multiple sources both internally and externally confirmed to Sports Illustrated that Owens and Zayn’s offense was “going into business for themselves” regarding their on-camera work during yesterday’s SmackDown.

Several attempts to reach out to WWE for comment regarding the story have gone unanswered.

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn Update

As we’ve been reporting today, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were sent home from the current WWE European Tour after last night’s SmackDown Live taping. The first round of stories contributed the duo’s removal to the tour to “conduct detrimental to WWE” during the tapings, along with them going into business for themselves during the show.

Now, it’s being reported that the problem wasn’t the promo the pair cut to open the show, but their actions after Sami Zayn’s match with Kofi Kingston. Apparently, Owens and Zayn were supposed to “feed” for New Day at the end of the match, but instead, the pair just left the ring and went backstage.

In wrestling terms, “feeding” refers to the heel(s) going at the babyface(s) numerous times only to be fended off. Instead of Owens and Zayn doing that, Owens attacked as soon at the bell rang, and New Day was not able to get any “comeuppance” due to the pair immediately backing up the entrance ramp.

This wasn’t what creative had planned for them to do, so Vince McMahon approved them being taken off the tour and sent home.

It’s also being reported that the pair have been unhappy and somewhat difficult to work with recently, with one report stating that Kevin Owens was complaining loudly on the tour bus last night after the tapings in what many saw as the last straw after almost a week of touring. If the stories of their discontent is true, it wouldn’t be surprising, seeing as how close the pair was/is to former WWE writer Jimmy Jacobs and former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville, who both have left the company recently under less-than-ideal circumstances.

Rockstar Spud WWE Bound

As we reported last week, Rockstar Spud parted ways with Impact Wrestling, and it looks like he is headed to WWE. According to reports today, Spud will be signing with WWE shortly and debut in the Cruiserweight Division for 205 Live, bypassing any time in “developmental” in NXT.

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn Sent Home From WWE European Tour

It’s being reported that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were sent home from the current WWE European Tour today. There’s no word on why the two left the tour or why WWE took them off of the tour at this time. There’s also no word on who will replace the two SmackDown Live stars on the blue brand’s leg of the tour. Apparently, the two were removed from the tour after last night’s SmackDown Live and returned to the US.

There are conflicting stories as to why the two were sent back to the States, with one source stating it was due unprofessional behavior on the part of the two wrestlers. A report from Sports Illustrated is claiming that they were sent home from the tour due to “conduct deemed detrimental to WWE”, basically going off script and going into business for themselves during their on-air promo segment during last night’s SmackDown Live.

I just rewatched the segment, and I didn’t see anything all that bad. Maybe Sami Zayn’s “goose-stepping” caused issues? The “Men Of Honor” quote? “Daddy Issues?” Mocking Vince McMahon’s “Fired” line in a weird voice? I guess you can be a bad guy in WWE…but only if you follow the micromanaged script word-for-word.

Jinder Mahal Addresses WWE Title Loss

As we saw on last night’s SmackDown Live, Jinder Mahal dropped the WWE World Title to AJ Styles. There had been rumors and speculation surfacing over the past week that Mahal may have been injured or even failed a Wellness Policy drug test due to the suddenness of the match.

Mahal took to his Instagram page today to address the title loss and the rumors.

The last month has been a crazy time to be a fan of the WWE. First, there was an illness striking down key players like Roman Reigns, forcing Kurt Angle to return to the ring at TLC, and now, AJ styles has just defeated Jinder Mahal on an episode of Smackdown to become the new WWE champion.

Styles’ unlikely victory and The Bar picking up the tag team titles from Ambrose and Rollins on Monday night has given Survivor Series a little makeover this week, and with Natalya facing Charlotte on next week’s Smackdown, don’t be surprised to see another change just yet.

Survivor Series is now shaping up to be one hell of a card, and with the WWE in full-blown surprise mode at the moment, anything is possible a week on Sunday. The show is famous for its twists and turns and the inter-brand warfare angle allows them plenty of opportunities to set up future matches and angles, especially with Wrestlemania season on the horizon.

So what twists ight this year’s Survivor Series have in store for us? Let’s take a look at five potential twists we could see next Sunday night.

Carmella cashes in, on Alexa Bliss 

Carmella has been teasing her Money in the Bank cash-in for months now and every pay-per-view that roles around creates speculation as to how and when she is going to do it. The logical assumption has always been that she is going to cash it on the Smackdown Woman’s Champion, whoever that happens to be, but it has not been made clear as to whether or not she can cash it on just the blue brand’s champion, or either of the women’s champs.

Survivor Series will see the two brand’s champions clash, and while the Smackdown side of things could see either Natalya or Charlotte as champ, Raw’s is definitely going to be Bliss.

Having Carmella cash in on Bliss would be a huge surprise, but if the opportunity were to present itself, then from a kayfabe point of view, she would be stupid not to take it.

She has also just presumably, severed her ties with James Ellsworth, which would free her up to join Monday nights and potentially join up with her real-life partner, Big Cass, who should be set to return from injury very soon. Having Carmella use Cass as protection would be a great gimmick for her, and would also present a strong challenge for Asuka, who is inevitably going to be winning the title in the very near future. Doing this at the start of the night would really establish a sense of ‘anything can happen tonight’ for the pay-per-view as well.
