Taz opens today’s show by discussing the announcement of the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match. He thinks this is great for the evolution of the professional wrestling business and great for women’s wrestling as a whole. He’s proud of all the women who have made this come to fruition.

He points out that a lot of the women in the ring on RAW looked very surprised when Stephanie McMahon came to the the ring and made that announcement. He suspects that WWE kept this surprise from the women so that they’d have a genuine reaction to the news when they first heard it live in the middle of the ring.

Taz adds that Ronda Rousey might make her WWE debut in this Royal Rumble, depending on how her training is progressing. He recalls McMahon telling him before his WWE debut that he couldn’t enter the Rumble match, because if he debuted in the Rumble match he’d have to win it. He thinks the same rule applies to Rousey is in this case.

Taz comments on Dean Ambrose’s triceps injury. He says that these types of injuries are very difficult to deal with, and he has experience dealing with a bicep tear. The fact that doctors are doing an exploratory surgery is probably good news for Ambrose because it confirms that doctors aren’t sure how severe the injury is. Taz says he knew immediately that his bicep was torn when it happened because it hurt like hell, so maybe Ambrose’s injury isn’t quite as bad.

Dave Meltzer reported on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon is re-launching the XFL but not under the parent company of WWE.

WWE has issued a statement saying that Vince McMahon will launch Alpha Entertainment, which will be separate from WWE because the WWE stock would tank if they announced the return of XFL. Vince is using his own money and not WWE’s money. Meltzer explained that Vince is looking at going into sports entertainment and he’s looking at Professional Football.

WWE started trademarking XFL a couple months ago and the announcement is expected to be made sometime next month.

We will keep you updated if we receive more details regarding the re-launch of XFL.

Russo says he couldn’t believe that WWE took the WWE Title off of Jinder Mahal after six months, without raising his stock or putting him in the main event spotlight where he should have been. Russo says he wishes he would have had the opportunity to write for Mahal, because he thought Mahal did a great job with his Title run in spite of some very lacklustre booking.

He says that if you’re a young performer who’s getting into the wrestling business, you need to know what you’re getting yourself into. Professional wrestling is a dangerous career and Russo thinks WWE could be doing a lot more to help protect their performers, especially the brain and head area.

He adds that a lot of today’s performers are working for the ‘pops’ and for Dave Meltzer’s 5-star ratings, when in reality Meltzer’s not going to pay their medical bills or support their family when they’re suffering from brain trauma at a young age.

Apparently Emma’s termination from WWE was the butt of a joke for NXT rookie Lio Rush (M.O.T.H) but Petyon Royce wasn’t having it.

The NXT newcomer took to Twitter and wrote, “I guess these are the things that happen when you’re not TRULY ready for @WWEAsuka “

These remarks didn’t sit well with Petyon and she called him out for not being a professional. She wrote, “Wow, kid. Didn’t you just get here? Professionalism goes a long way.”

You can check out the exchange below:

Ross is intrigued by the upcoming TLC card. He doesn’t think he’s ever seen a handicap TLC match before so the main event of Sunday’s card should be very interesting to say the least. He also thinks there’s a lot of hype surrounding Asuka’s main roster debut and he’s just as interested in that match as he is the main event match.

Ross is also interested in the rumoured Survivor Series match between Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal. He points out that when he first heard these rumours he was automatically wondering how WWE was going to book this finish and that’s always a good thing. He suspects that Lesnar will emerge victorious because WWE needs to keep him strong if he’s going to pass the Universal Title to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

Ross welcomes ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase to the show.

DiBiase informs that his new documentary ‘The Price of Fame’ will air next month. The documentary will talk about his career in the business of professional wrestling and the trials and tribulations that accompanied it. Ross says he was happy to lend some time to DiBiase as he was interviewed for this film, and DiBiase’s son narrates the whole film.

The following press release was sent in:

BYE BYE BUFF DADDY
1990-2018 Retirement Tour

Woodstock, GA, May 31, 2018– Approaching his 28th year in the world of professional wrestling and sports entertainment, Marcus “BUFF the STUFF” Bagwell, or as many have referred to him over the years as his entrance music shouts “BUFF DADDY”!!! has made a definitive decision that as of May 2018 he will lace up his boots for the last time and put the block buster to rest.

When asking Buff about the retirement decision he simply said:

“When going with the Buff Daddy character I knew it was going to be a blessing and a curse.” The blessing was, it was always an over exaggerated part of me so it was easy and a lot of fun to do, but when you call yourself BUFF!! You better damn sure live it and be in that gym 4-5 times per week.

Going into my 28th year in ring performing and with injuries and a few major surgeries over these last few years I really wanted to end my in-ring career still looking and performing like Buff Bagwell.
