“Ronda has made no secret her whole career that she has been a huge fan of WWE growing up. She has been on record saying WWE is probably some of the most fun that she has ever had in her entire career. I have been out there publicly saying that if she wants the opportunity I am happy to give it to her. She is looking for the opportunity so it seems like a perfect match-up. I am excited to have the conversation with her and see where it goes.”

Here are some highlights from Triple H’s recent media call to hype Saturday’s NXT Takeover event:

Vince Getting Excited About NXT Talents & How They Decide ti bring Them Up: “I think there’s excitement, there’s a lot of talent that [Vince] will say on an occasional basis, ‘Where are you at with this particular person? When do I get them?’ You know what I mean? It’s my job to then creatively work with the team both main roster and my own team to say when is the right strategic time to put the person into the right place that they need to go to so they have the best opportunity in front of them and to make sure they’re ready.”

Deciding Who To Call Up & When: “And it’s funny because sometimes I’ll see people think or say, ‘Oh my God, this person has been so ready for so long.’ They don’t know the things that they’re missing that we can see from our side of it to say, ‘I need you another three months and this is what I really need you to focus on. I don’t want you to fail on this one piece whenever you get up there, whatever that is.’ There’s a lot of components that go into this and yeah, we have those conversations. And [Vince] gives me the opinion and the stuff and listens to my opinions. Sometimes there’s stuff he sees on the shows.”

Wanting NXT Talents to Succeed: “I want it to be the best it can possibly be. Not only for the roster, for RAW, whatever that is. But I want it to be the best for any of these talents. I want them all to succeed at the biggest level they can. Granted, they’re not all going to do that. They all can’t be the main event at WrestleMania but I want them all to have the opportunity when they move up to the roster because whatever it is, whatever the opportunity is, whether it’s big or small, as long as we give them the tools to do that then whatever’s going to happen, is going to happen.”

While appearing on Talk Is Jericho, Nia Jax talked about the first time she decided to go into Vince McMahon’s office and revealed that Vince sees her as the ‘Andre the Giant’ of the females.

“Vince is like the big dog, he owns the company. You hear, ‘Oh do this, do that because Vince likes it.’ So one day, I walked up to his office, grabbing some balls of mine and saying, ‘Hey Vince,’” Jax said.

“I walked in and thanked him for the opportunity he’s given me so far and want to know what [he] wants me to do in this division. He said, ‘You’re like the Andre the Giant of the females. It’s going to take a lot for these girls to get you down. You’re a killer, you’re strong.’ He basically just told me that they need to work to get you down and you need to protect yourself in that way.”

Sasha Banks will face Nia Jax on next week’s episode of RAW for the opportunity at Alex Bliss’ RAW Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is interest in a match between Bliss vs. Jax. However, Meltzer said it would make no sense to do that match on a six-day build rather than do a long story. Meltzer speculates that Banks will win that match on RAW next week and move on to face Bliss for the championship.

As most of you know by now, WWE pulled the trigger on Jinder Mahal and he is now WWE Champion. It’ll surely go down as one of the most shocking and unexpected victories in professional wrestling history. Sure it was met with harsh criticism, but others seem to think it was the right move. From a business standpoint, it was.

WWE is in the process of expanding its brand to India. Mahal winning the championship was the edge they needed to promote it and expand even more. It was a smart business decision, but don’t let that take away anything that Jinder has done to get to this point. He earned his match against Orton in the upcoming weeks to Backlash. His victory in the six-pack challenge and over AJ Styles showed that Mahal should be considered a true player.

Sunday night was just the coronation of his arrival to the spotlight, one that I’m perfectly fine with him having.

Mahal is considered a jobber by most of the WWE Universe. After being fired back in 2014, Mahal was brought back just to fill up the roster holes the brand split would create. The Mahal we saw in 2016 was different. Much different. He is built like a brick house. Maybe it’s the steroids, but nonetheless he changed his look. He also changed his character to a degree. No longer was he a founding member of 3MB. This Mahal was serious, ready to knock down anyone that stood in his way to success. It still didn’t change how he would be booked. By definition, Mahal was a jobber.

That would all change at Wrestlemania 33.

Mahal was a finalist in the Andre the Giant battle royal, losing to Mojo Rawley with help from New England Patriots Tight End, Rob Gronkowski. Fast forward a little bit and we see him in the ring with a returning Finn Balor. The match was anything great, but what got people talking was the forearm shot by Mahal. It was viewed as stiff, unnecessary, and dangerous. Even though it got people talking bad about Mahal, it got them talking about Mahal nonetheless.
