As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, WWE did a backstage segment with Enzo Amore being hit on by Nia Jax, where she used his line, “How you doin?!?” on the WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Dave Meltzer discussed this angle in today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and explained that this is going to be a comedy romance angle with the two that will play out on WWE television. Meltzer mentioned that the reason WWE is doing this angle is because they need something for Nia Jax to do, while the new talents that were brought up from NXT get over on the main roster.

Meltzer also added that it’s very possible that Nia Jax could be appearing on 205 Live in the coming weeks.

More Info On Chris Jericho Working WrestleKingdom 12

As we reported yesterday, Chris Jericho made a rather surprising appearance at NJPW’s Power Struggle (via video) to challenge Kenny Omega to a match at January’s WrestleKingdom 12 show. Omega accepted the challenge, and the match was officially announced this morning during NJPW’s WrestleKingdom presser.

Apparently, WWE knew nothing about Chris Jericho’s plans until word broke of the challenge early Sunday morning. Jericho is not under contract with WWE at this time; he’s said on his podcast that he is working on a per-appearance deal with the promotion. So, there was really no reason for Jericho to give Vince McMahon or anyone in WWE advance knowledge of what was going to happen. This has reportedly been in the works since August.

We’ve also reported that Jericho will be working in conjunction ROH for his 2018 cruise. Jericho said on his show that he had approached WWE about working with them and NXT for the cruise, but they turned him down.

Jericho recently said he approached WWE/HHH about having NXT on his cruise. Was turned down. Says they “don’t play well with others.”

So, all of those conspiracy theorists and WWE apologists who were flooding social media yesterday saying that this match would never happen without WWE agreeing to it and Vince giving his permission (and even calling this a talent exchange between the two companies), this should nip that in the bud.

Nia Jax On Her WWE Absence

Last month, Nia Jax set tongues wagging when she reportedly “walked out” of RAW over issues with the creative direction of her character. Then, stories came out that she was dealing with a back injury. Wherever the truth actually resided, Jax spoke about her absence during a recent interview on the current WWE European Tour.

“Well actually I had live events off for the last couple of weeks because that’s just how it worked out, for cycling and stuff, so I got a little rest from TV because I wasn’t in anything storyline-wise, so I had a little rest there. But yeah, it’s been great. I love what we do, I love the storytelling, especially being such a different character and obviously a different size than everybody, we get to play on that and it’s always cool to see where we can go in the ring.”

SmackDown Live Social Media Score

This week’s WWE SmackDown Live ranked #2 among series and specials for the night in Nielsen’s social media TV ratings, behind This Is Us. SmackDown Live had 127,000 interactions on Twitter with 28,000 unique authors, up from last week’s 110,000 interactions and 26,000 authors.

SmackDown Live also had 61,000 Facebook interactions with 41,000 unique authors last night, down from last week’s 72,000 interactions and 49,000 authors.

Nia Jax Update

As we reported last week, Nia Jax is currently on an approved leave of absence from WWE. There had been rumors that she had walked out of RAW last week, unhappy with the creative direction of her character. Other reports said that she didn’t actually walk out of RAW and was just taking some time off. Then, her real-life best friend Alexa Bliss said in an interview that the issue was WWE’s road schedule.

Well, today, we get a new report. Now, it’s being said that Jax had an issue with the plan for her to lose clean to Sasha Banks at this past Sunday’s TLC PPV. According to this report, Jax did walk out of RAW last week and then requested the leave of absence from the company after speaking with her cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Apparently, Johnson told her to walk out if she was unhappy.

Once again, I think this all boils down to who you believe and what news source you trust. The truth more than likely lies somewhere in the middle of all the stories.

Kevin Owens Pulled From Tour

WWE announced earlier today that Kevin Owens has been pulled from the current SmackDown Live South American tour due to personal reasons.

Kevin Owens left Buenos Aires today and will not appear at the remaining Live Events in Argentina and Chile this weekend, WWE.com has learned.

Though Owens did perform at Luna Park for Thursday night’s Live Event in Buenos Aires, he has left before the remaining Live Event dates scheduled in Argentina for tonight, and at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, this Friday and Saturday, due to personal reasons.

Hopfully, everything is ok with Owens, and he will return in time for SmackDown on Tuesday.

WWE UK Series In The Works?

Last year’s WWE UK Championship Tournament was supposed to be the launching pad for a weekly series on WWE Network featuring UK talent. As we’ve all seen, that never came to pass, and we rarely see the UK Champion or his title on WWE television.

It’s being reported now that WWE is pitching the idea of a weekly show to numerous broadcasters in the UK now, including ITV. Apparently, they aren’t looking for this to just be a Network show; they want it on broadcast television as well. The working title for the weekly show is WWE King Of The Ring.

Speaking of the UK, WWE is reportedly still in talks with PROGRESS and ICW to bring them aboard the Network if or when they ever implement the rumored tiered subscription system.

Nia Jax Update

In the “depending who you trust” bin, we have more information on Nia Jax and her WWE status. As we have been reporting this week, Jax is currently taking a leave of absence from the company. She’s off the road, off television, and not filming for Total Divas. According to Alexa Bliss, this absence is due to the grueling WWE road schedule.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this whole situation has been blown way out of proportion and there’s really no story to be had. Dave Meltzer says she will be back to work in time for next month’s UK Tour.

Like I said, all of these rumors surrounding Nia (and Neville) basically boil down to who you trust the most for your wrestling news.

All week, we’ve been reporting on Nia Jax’s current “leave of absence” from WWE. The New York Post published a piece today where they spoke with Jax’s best friend, RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, about Nia’s situation. Bliss says she has no doubt that Nia will return to WWE soon.

“We have talked about it a lot. Whatever she is going through, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a leave of absence. She’s taking some time off because our schedule it very grueling. It’s very, very demanding. There are times where you are run down and your body can’t do it anymore and you get sick or you get injured from it and you get tired.

“So, I feel like everyone needs a reset every once in a while. In NXT I took a few resets and it was never like public knowledge, but we all need them. We all take them once in a while. I am happy when she comes back. I feel like everyone needs that refresher week or refresher moment.”

Hopefully, Bliss is right, and Nia just needs some time off. With all of the rumors of walk-outs and people looking to leave WWE for “greener pastures”, morale can’t be the best on WWE’s main roster these days.

Nia Jax Update

As we reported yesterday, Nia Jax has been granted a leave of absence from WWE to deal with some personal issues. Despite rumors, it’s being reported that she has not quit the company. But, as of now, she will not be shooting any new footage for Total Divas; the cast and crew are in New York this week to film footage for the upcoming season.

Another report is stating that Nia’s leave of absence has to do with her being frustrated with her creative direction and pay. She has leeway that others don’t (being The Rock’s cousin and all), so it’s probable that WWE will work something out for her so that she can return in the near future.

Jax is off the road and off of all WWE television for the foreseeable future. We will keep you updated if more information on this situation comes to light.

Nia Jax WWE Status

There’s yet another flurry of walk-out rumors in the wrestling world. This time, it involves Nia Jax. Earlier today, the rumor started via the Twitter account that broke the news of Neville walking out of RAW last week, and it has been picked up by several wrestling news sites and even some gossip rags since then. According to these sources, Nia Jax walked out of RAW last night due to frustrations with a backstage incident.

As for what’s really going on, no one is really sure. It’s being reported that Nia has been granted a leave of absence from the company to deal with some personal issues, but for what and for how long is unclear at this time.

We will keep everyone updated on this story as more information becomes available.

Jinder Mahal On Breaking CM Punk’s Title Reign Record

In a recent interview, Jinder Mahal said he could absolutely see himself breaking CM Punk’s WWE World Title reign record.

“Absolutely think I can. Why not? I believe I haven’t even entered my prime yet. So, I’m 31 years old, I’m already WWE Champion for 140 something days at the moment. I’ve a lengthy title run ahead of me and many more title runs yet to come.”

Let’s not give WWE any ideas, ok folks?

TV Insider recently spoke with Alexa Bliss. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Bliss on joining the cast of Total Divas: “I was really excited to join Total Divas. I watched Total Divas and thought it was a really cool opportunity. It has been so much fun. It’s definitely not what I expected, with cameras 24/7, but it has been really cool. We got to go to Cabo. That’s how I got my pig, Larry-Steve. So, it has been such an amazing experience. I’m really happy I’m doing it.”

Bliss on her friendship with Nia Jax: “She is my best friend. We hang out together. We travel together. We started out on NXT together. The fact that she is there with me and going through the experience with me, it makes it that much better. It’s awesome. Nia and I, besides the Bellas, are kind of the true best friends on the show. I think it brings this new dynamic. Even though the other girls are real tight-knit, we have each other. We have each other’s back.”

Alexa Bliss on what fans can expect from her on the show: “People can expect a lot of fun. A lot of outgoing girls who are very opinionated. There is some definite craziness. However, it’s a great ride and a lot of fun.”

Hunter Meets Adam Cole

It’s become a tradition for Triple H to post a photo of himself with the newest NXT talent following that talent’s debut. Following NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, where Adam Cole made his NXT debut in a surprise attack on new NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, fans were expecting Triple H to post his backstage photo with Cole. The photo never appeared that weekend until Thursday night. Triple H finally posted the Cole photo and welcomed him to the NXT roster.

Nia Jax took time to explain the significance of her “I’m Not Like Most” tagline, which can be heard in her entrance theme song. Jax wrote the slogan represents a reminder that everyone is different and they should appreciate such differences.
