WWE has announced that both WWE US Title tournament matches will broadcast on next week’s episode of SmackDown Live. Those matches are Bobby Roode vs. Mojo Rawley and Xavier Woods vs. Jinder Mahal. The winners of those matches will face will face off in the finals at the Royal Rumble even on January 28th.

WWE also confirmed Becky Lynch, Naomi and Charlotte Flair vs. Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan will take place on the show.

WWE heads to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ for tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live. Here are the highlights from tonight’s show:

Daniel Bryan opens the show talking about the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Bryan talks about the main event of tonight’s show before Shane McMahon comes out. Shane talks about what transpired at Sunday’s WWE Clash of Champions where Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn one their match with the assist from Daniel Bryan. Bryan said he did it to protect Shane from himself. Bryan and Shane talk about the vision for the SmackDown brand. Bryan says if he has a problem, he can fire him. Bryan says he doesn’t want Shane to turn into Vince McMahon. Shane says he turns Bryan before telling him “Good luck with the show tonight.”

Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin defeat The Usos.

Charlotte in-ring promo. She talks about her win at WWE Clash of the Champions and the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match. Charlotte says she will be waiting to defend her championship to whomever wins the Women’s Royal Rumble. Naomi comes out and announces herself as the first women in the Women’s Royal Rumble match. The new NXT rookies come out and Naomi calls them “chicken heads.”

Naomi & Charlotte defeated Sarah Logan & Ruby Riott.

Backstage segment with The New Day, Rusev Claus and Aiden English. Rusev Claus puts everyone on the naughty list before a challenge is issued. The New Day accepts.

Dolph Ziggler in-ring promo. Ziggler talks about all the championship titles he had won. He then drops the United States Championship Title and walks to the back. It appears that he just forfeited the title.

(Note: Ziggler’s contract was rumored to be expiring. We will keep updated)

The New Day defeat Rusev & Aiden English.

Randy Orton, Nakamura & AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.

Here are some highlights from Naomi’s appearance on AfterBuzzTV, where revealed that she would want to face Beyonce in a WWE match and among other topics:

Wanting to face Beyonce someday: “I would have to say Beyonce, because she’s my idol. Beyonce is great at everything, you can’t be great at wrestling too. I think that is one thing she’s not good at and I would be better at her.”

Wanting to face Melina, Lita, Trish Stratus and more: “I would bring back some woman from the Attitude Era. Lita, I think she’s freaking amazing! Melina, that is definitely someone who influenced me. Trish of course! I thought some of those woman were killing it back then and I feel like because of the time period, a lot of those woman didn’t get the credit they deserve but they were kicking ass back then and also opened a lot of door for us.

Possibly opening a bar with her Jimmy Uso: “[Jimmy] and I eventually want to open some business. We’ve been talking about having our own bar, naming it the square circle, but it would be wrestling vibe and something relatable to us and for our fans.”

Wanting to own her own company: “I would love to have my own hair company. My own hair line, when I tell you I know everything is to know about hair, I’ve experience every type of hair, I’ve had every hair stylist, I’ve re-grown my hair out so many times I know so much about that which is why once I get my hands into it, I would be so good with it. I’m so passionate about hair! Especially as a black woman it’s just another whole – ya’ll don’t know the struggle (laughs). It’s an amazing business that I’m very interested in, it’s a multi billion dollar company.”

While speaking to PWInsider, Nikki Bella claimed that the Total Divas reality TV show started the women’s revolution within WWE. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Nikki on if she believes Total Divas gets enough credit for helping cultivate and grow the fan demographic for female WWE Superstars: “Absolutely not, I don’t think it does at all. What is unfortunate is that when Total Divas was succeeding and we became a hit reality show, they let people with a mic in the ring just bash it and us Total Divas never got a response. So, with the fans, it began to give Total Divas a bad name, ‘Oh, they are just reality stars.’ Actually, while the girls who aren’t on the reality show are just wrestling, us girls on the reality show are wrestling, are filming, are never sleeping, going to appearances, making sure that the world knows how amazing women wrestlers are. So, I don’t feel Total Divas gets enough credit because the words ‘reality show’ has ruined it for people. It think certain people also, characters for the company, have ruined it as well out of pure jealousy. I’ll admit that.”

Bella on how the show helped start the women’s revolution: “I think [Total Divas] helped start the women’s revolution. Total Divas [led to] more women started coming to our show, like, ‘I gotta check this out.’ I remember when Brie was fighting Stephanie McMahon, so many women showed up because they were like, ‘I can’t believe she’s fighting her boss, Oh My Gosh!’ It was crazy for them to even imagine, like, ‘She’s Gonna hit her? Like, This is nuts!’ and so I think Total Divas has done so much for women’s wrestling. It was the first time that we got an hour of TV to ourselves, to really showcase what women do.”

Bella on the influx of fans and support due to the series: “It happened so quickly and so fast. I want to say that when seasons one and two came out, both of which we were lucky in that they had 16 episodes each, after that season two….Bam! Everyone wanted to know Natalya, Brie Bella, Naomi, Ariane. Everyone was like, ‘Who are these girls?’ and when we go to events, there would be women wrestlers who weren’t on the show and were getting more TV time than us and [the fans] wouldn’t care about them. They would be, ‘I want to see those Total Divas girls. Can you bring them back?’”

This year’s SummerSlam is expected to run for at least six hours, according to multiple sources. The kickoff show is scheduled to start at 5PM and run for two hours with the main pay-per-view beginning at 7PM and lasting approximately four hours.

The pre-show is expected to feature at least three pre-show matches. Rumored matches include The Usos vs. The New Day, The Hardy Boys vs Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and/or the Cruiserweight match or Big Cass vs. Big Show.

The Smackdown Women’s Championship match between Naomi and Natalya is also a possibility, but if there are plans to have Carmella cash in her Money in the Bank contract, it wouldn’t make sense for it to happen before the event officially starts.

The Punjabi Prison makes a (hopefully) triumphant return after a decade in a match that sees Randy Orton get one more shot at regaining the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal. It’s no secret that the Punjabi Prison hasn’t had a good track record in WWE, particularly because it’s a weird match with silly rules, but tonight’s definitely has the chance to be the best ever! We’re hoping a decade will allow Randy and Jinder to learn from the mistakes of those before and build a pretty decent match. If nothing else the Prison is always a spectacle.

Also on tonight’s show, John Cena makes his triumphant return to the ring to face Rusev in a Flag Match. This match doesn’t feel all that important because we’ve seen this feud before and because flag matches are generally silly. Regardless, John Cena wrestling is always worth checking out because he’s become an attraction in WWE and here’s hoping his current run will last a while. Rusev’s return has been a very long time coming and fans were hoping that he would be given a strong run upon return and maybe that will be the case if he can eek a win tonight!

There’s a small truth in the women’s division that few people want to acknowledge: Naomi hasn’t had a real contender since winning the title at WrestleMania. Other than fighting Lana on a weekly basis, Naomi’s title run has been marred by a lack of competition. This has happened because the SmackDown ladies have been embroiled in a multi-woman feud for months and months. Tonight the company aims to end this long-running battle royal with a five-way match with the winner becoming the number one contender to Naomi. I don’t think there is a clear winner for this match because the two strongest challengers, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, are both babyfaces. The idea of Lana winning is painfully possible.

Also on tonight’s card, Shinsuke Nakamura takes on Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn looks for revenge against Mike Kanellis, The New Day get another shot at The Uso’s Tag Team Championships, and Kevin Owens will look to regain his US Championship from AJ Styles! Tonight’s Battleground is a pretty stacked card with some crazy match stipulations and it all starts with Tye Dillinger Vs. Aiden English on the Kick-Off Show at 7pm EST.
