When Roman Reigns was not in condition to compete at this past Sunday’s WWE TLC event, many speculated that Brock Lesnar would be called by the WWE to replace Reigns in the match, according to reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The reason why Lesnar was expected as the replacement was because he attended college in Minneapolis and is considered Minneapolis’ hometown star. Despite this, according to sources Lesnar was never contacted.

Another replacement that was needed at the WWE TLC PPV was for the Finn Balor match. It is not known how many names were considered before settling on AJ Styles, but one star that was contacted for taking Bray Wyatt’s spot was Chris Jericho. Jericho was unavailable for an appearance for the event because he is right now on a tour with his band Fozzy.

WWE announced earlier today that that Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns have been pulled from the WWE TLC event this Sunday in Minneapolis. Kurt Angle will be replacing Roman Reigns and AJ Styles will be replacing Bray Wyatt.

Wyatt has been kept off the road for several weeks now as a “precautionary measure” after Bo Dallas was diagnosed with an illness described as a “communicable disease.” When the company found out that Wyatt would be not cleared to return to in-ring action, WWE made the call to have Styles replace him.

WWE also announced that Reigns was being pulled for a medical issue. PWInsider speculates that it’s probably the same issue that Wyatt was pulled for. Angle is now set to team with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose at Sunday event in the main event bout. This will be his first WWE match since 2006.

Apparently WWE requested a number of talents that are competing at Sunday’s TLC event to undergo medical testing earlier this week because of the concern that they may have contracted what is ailing Dallas and Wyatt. WWE is not expected to announce anything beyond that there is a medical issue due to HIPAA laws.

It was previously announced on WWE programming that Asuka will be making her debut at the upcoming WWE TLC event.

Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that her opponent on the show could either be Nia Jax, Emma or Alicia Fox. Meltzer speculates that if WWE doesn’t put her in a singles match, she could end up teaming with Sasha Banks and Bayley to take on the team of Nia Jax, Emma and Alicia Fox on the card.

WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs takes place at the Target Center in Minneapolis on October 22nd. As always, we will be providing live play-by-play coverage of the event.
