Paige Close To Possible WWE Return

Paige, who has been out of action since last year, is reportedly close to being cleared for a possible return to action. It has certainly been a tumultuous year for the WWE star, not only because of the neck injury, but also due to a suspension, her relationship with Alberto El Patron and well, Brad Maddox and a camera.

Considering all of the above, most believed that we would never see Paige work for the WWE again. But according to PWInsider, if she is indeed cleared next week, it could conceivably happen. Any renewed interest in the relationship (from the WWE side of things) may have something to do with her biopic being produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Mauro Ranallo Signs With Bellator

Former SmackDown Live announcer Mauro Ranallo has been hired by Bellator, UFC’s main competition in the MMA world. Ranallo wasn’t the only big name announcer hired by the group today. So too was former UFC play by play man Mike Goldberg, who also has WWE ties.

Back in 2005, Goldberg almost came to work for the WWE. Vince McMahon offered him a six-figure deal to no-show a UFC event and show up on RAW unannounced. The caveat is that Goldberg would have had to change his last name as, at the time, Vince McMahon hated Bill Goldberg. Ultimately, (Mike) Goldberg rejected the WWE offer and re-signed with the UFC and was employed by them until earlier this year. I’ve always felt Vince was insane, not just over the name “Goldberg,” but for thinking a UFC play by play man (who was never that great) would mean one iota of difference for the WWE.

But Ranallo and Goldberg are both significant names in the MMA world and them going to Bellator concurrently is definitely a big deal. Whether or not the two will work together on the same announce team is unclear. Both are play by play guys.
