Kevin Owens Update

As we reported yesterday, Kevin Owens was pulled from the current SmackDown Live South American tour and sent home early. All WWE said was that Owens left the tour early due to personal reasons. Owens himself took to Twitter earlier today to give everyone an update.

Hopefully all is well with Kevin and his family.

Miz, Maryse, & Their “It Baby”

Miz and Maryse are expecting their first child, and last night, they held a gender reveal party for their upcoming bundle of joy.

Congrats to the happy parents-to-be on their little girl.

Alexa Bliss Talks WWE’s Main Roster

In a recent interview hyping her WWE TLC match with Mickie James, Alexa Bliss talked about her reaction at being called up to WWE’s main roster.

“Opportunities, you have to make the most of them. You have to run with it. And I know I was one of the most underwhelming draft picks because I hadn’t done much on NXT. I hadn’t had a TakeOver match. I hadn’t won the title. I had valeted the majority of my career. And I knew I just had to just kick down the door.”

She also talked about continually trying to improve in the ring.

“I’m still working on my in-ring ability. I know I’m not the best in [the] ring. I try to get better with every match. I go to the [WWE Performance Center] and try to refresh my skills and learn new ones and bring that into my matches.”

As of this writing Pedro Morales holds the record of longest accumulative time as Intercontinental Champion. Morales’ 2 reigns as champion earned him an impressive accumulated reign of 619 days. This record has stood for over 34 years and while it may be impressive, it also must end. In WWE, records are almost always made to be broken. John Cena is on his way to break Ric Flair’s record, Roman Reigns broke Kane’s royal rumble record and the New Day broke Demolition’s record, with many more being born only to finally become a career highlight for a future superstar in the annals of WWE history. Choosing who breaks these records is an important decision and to take them lightly is, consequently, plain disrespectful. There is – as of this writing – only one man to break Morales’ record and that man is The Miz.

Currently in his 7th reign, The Miz could break Morales’ reign by the end of 2017. That would be a fantastic choice to make and will do wonders for The Miz in the history of WWE. As an alternative WWE could even have the Miz tie or bet Chris Jericho’s record of most ever Intercontinental Championships. However it is Morales’ record that will be the better and more natural for this time. The Miz has proved countless doubters and haters wrong and breaking this record will continue that trend.

What the Miz has done over the past year and a half is astounding. Since Maryse returned to his side following Wrestlemania 32 he is having the best year and a half of his career. He held the Intercontinental championship with pride from the night he won it until the brand split where stuff really took off. The Miz was once – 6 years ago – branded one of the worst WWE Champions of all time. Now in 2017 he is without argument one of the best Intercontinental Champions of all time. As well as that he has morphed into one of WWE’s most talented all-round superstars today.

This is one of the main reasons he deserves to destroy Morales’ record. The simple fact is The Miz as the Intercontinental Champion fits. When people think of The Miz in 15 years they will think Intercontinental Champion, not the Wrestlemania 27 main eventer. Undoubtedly the greatest Intercontinental Champion of the last 10 years, The Miz took a title which had been dragged through the mud by poor booking, a lack of creativity, terrible feuds and unmemorable reigns and made it prominent prestigious as it was less than 2 decades ago.

It is the presence of the Miz and the way he treats the Intercontinental Championship which makes it feel special. The way he talks about the title and the way he presents it on social media on TV is fantastic. The Miz makes himself look like a champion and makes his championship feel special. In his promos and in his segments The Miz makes himself and his championship the centrepiece. Many a time in the past 18 months has The Miz’s Championship felt like the most prestigious. This is even over the world championships, and most of that has to do with The Miz.

Former best friends, TJP and Rich Swann will settle their differences inside the squared circle tonight. At first, TJP wanted to “one-up” his friend in everything he did, and more recently, TJP appeared to suffer a knee injury that Swann was unaware of, however he bounced back unbeknownst to Swann. The two have been going back and forth for months now and it became clear that their rivalry was anything but friendly. Tonight, TJP and Rich Swann throw down in Sin City to determine who gets bragging rights.

Last night on Raw, Enzo Amore was a guest on Miz TV, but he appeared early, interrupting The Miz and Maryse’s baby announcement. The two then had an impromptu match, which Enzo won by disqualification, but he paid the price as The Miz and The Miztourage had their way with him afterwards. After the match, Enzo was confronted by WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville, who simply laughed at his WWE No Mercy challenger. Can Enzo prove himself worthy ahead of No Mercy?

It looks like Tye Dillinger may have found something to do other than waste away in non-televised matches on the main roster. In a situation that has escalated quite quickly, former NXT standout and current Smackdown Live superstar Tye Dillinger has initiated a Twitter beef with RAW superstar and recent Mizzie award winner, The Miz. The first shots were fired late Sunday night, when Dillinger invited the A-Lister to stop by Smackdown Live.

Miz retorted, and it was on.

Dillinger then went for the low blow, dragging Maryse into the mix.

The Miz had the final word this afternoon (for now).

It’s hard to say at this juncture whether this is a legit beef between the two or just a part of a setup for a future story line. With Tye Dillinger somewhat shelved creatively at the moment and The Miz possibly about to move on from his feud with Dean Ambrose, this could be the start of a fun feud between the two men. Could a move to RAW be in the cards for “The Perfect Ten” (couldn’t picture the Miz moving his Mizterage back to the blue brand) or do the two grapplers truly not care for one another?

– ‘The Fearless’ Nikki Bella vs. ‘The Queen of Harts’ Natalya,

have been booked for next Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown Live from Baton Rouge, LA.

– Also, the former champions The New Wyatt Family will be up against the newly crowned SmackDown Tag Team Champions American Alpha to recapture their throne, next week.

And, WWE Smackdown Live delivered AGAIN!

‘The Lunatic on the Loose’ Dean Ambrose defeated ‘The A-Lister’ The Miz of tonight’s WWE SmackDown Live episode via pinfall after nailing The A-Lister with ‘The Dirty Deeds’ to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion and cap off a rather eventful night in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Miz won the title back from ‘The Showoff’ Dolph Ziggler on November 15th at SmackDown Live 900. His 6th reign ends at 49 days, after winning it on #SDLive900 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, Dean Ambrose is now a two-time Intercontinental Champion.

Eliminations were as follows:

  • Breezango eliminated Slater & Rhyno after Fandango rolled up Rhyno after Breeze was hit with the GORE! GORE! GORE!
  • AA eliminated Breezango with a bulldog from the top giving respect (an ode) to the legendary tag team, The Steiner Brothers.
  • AA eliminated The Vaudevillians when Jordan hit English with an Olympic Slam/Angle Slam.
  • AA eliminated The Ascension when Gable pinned Victor after nailing him with a ‘Chaos Theory Suplex’.

AA eliminated The Usos via Grand Amplitude. Usos got the biggest reaction of all the tag teams. At one point during the bout, there were dueling “Let’s go Usos/Alphas” chants.

– Singles Match for the Smackdown Women’s Championship:
‘Five feet of Fury’ Alexa Bliss (c) def. ‘Straight Fire’ Becky Lynch via pinfall to retain her championship by using a handful of tights to get the victory.

Becky received a good ‘babyface’ reaction from the people in attendance.



– ‘Turtle without a shell’ James Ellsworth def. Curt Hawkins via pinfall with a ‘No Chin Music’ in about 11 seconds. But, hey Ronda Rousey lasted longer than Hawkins! That’s impressive. But, Hawkins you gotta ‘FACE THE FACTS!’

The crowd seemed to be enjoying this comedy break matchup after two title matches!

– ‘The Lone Wolf’ Baron Corbin def. ‘The Lucha Dragon’ Kalisto after nailing the luchador with the ‘End of Days’.

Kalisto seemed to be extremely over with the kids in the crowd. Corbin was hated.

– Non-title Steel Cage Match:
‘The Showoff’ Dolph Ziggler def. IC Champion ‘The A-Lister’ The Miz in a great 24-minute bout after Maryse accidentally slammed the cage door on her husband’s face (The Moneymaker, Remember?) and Ziggler floored the IC champ with a Superkick.

Both men put forth a great performance and it was evident to the fans in attendance. The crowd hated Miz. SHEER HATRED.


– ‘The Fearless’ Nikki Bella def. ‘The Queen of Harts’ Natalya via pinfall. Bella won the match with the ‘help’ of Carmella’s interference. Bella shoved Natalya into Carmella and then hit the Rack Attack 2.0 for the 1-2-3.

– 6-Man Tag Team Match:
The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton & ‘The Brawler from the Backwoods’ Luke Harper) def. Apollo Crews, Jack Swagger & Mojo Rawley via pinfall.

The crowd chanted “We want Randy” when Randy was on the apron waiting to be tagged in and “RKO” when he was in the ring involved in the bout. Completely overshadowed the rest of the guys.

– Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship:
‘The Phenomenal’ A.J. Styles (c) def. ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ Dean Ambrose and ‘The Face that Runs the Place’ John Cena to retain his title in a 20 minute main event bout.

Styles brought a chair in the ring and nailed Cena. Ambrose kicked him and went for Dirty Deeds on the chair but Styles hit him low and pinned him with the school boy pin.

Post-match, Cena floored him with the ‘Attitude Adjustment’ (AA) to send the fans home happy.
