Dave Meltzer indicated in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE could be pulling the trigger on a heel turn for Daniel Bryan.

As seen on Smackdown Live this past week, Daniel Bryan put AJ Styles in a handicap match against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens with the WWE Championship Title on the line at the upcoming Royal Rumble event. This came off in a heelish manner and it’s normally something a heel authority figure would do instead of a babyface.

Meltzer believes that the company could be trying to minimize the amount of WWE fans that could potentially watch Bryan on the indie scene or another promotion by turning him. Basically, they are trying to hurt his mainstream appeal and value by having him exit the company as a heel, which probably won’t work very well if Bryan does in fact leave WWE.

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore.

Lawler says that he’s very excited about SummerSlam this Sunday, and he’s also excited to be working the Kickoff show on the WWE Network. He admits that for a while he thought SummerSlam needed to be ‘bigger’, but over the last few weeks WWE has done a good job of building the PPV and now Lawler is very excited to watch the show.

He says he’s anxious to see the reformed tag team of Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins take on Sheamus and Cesaro for the RAW tag team Championships. He’s also looking forward to The Demon vs. Bray Wyatt because he’s been waiting for The Demon to make its return for a while now. He says that we need less Finn Balor and more Demon moving forward.

Lawler informs that he’s going to be wrestling Cody Rhodes for the ROH Championship next week. He wonders if Rhodes can actually put the ROH Title on the line against a WWE-contracted talent because Lawler has full intentions of beating Rhodes and claiming the ROH Title. That would be a very embarrassing situation for ROH in Lawler’s opinion.

Welcome to the fastest hour on television, 205 Live!

Tonight’s show takes place on the patriotic 4th of July and we’re less than a week away from Great Balls of Fire. Yes, I know, the feud that will not die. WWE’s writers seem to have little to no interest in 205 Live, hence why feuds last for a very long time and revolve around some small issue that never gets resolved. Thankfully the in-ring action is usually pretty great and that makes it worth watching, that being said this feud needs to come to an end and Alexander can move on to something much more worth his time.

Get talking on the Ringside Talk app and the Ringside News app, both of which you can grab for free!
