Bischoff on Wrestling Recap – Orton’s Tweets, Wrestling’s Changing Landscape, Are There Too Many Titles in WWE? More!

Eric Bischoff is joined on today’s show by his co-host Nick Hausman.

Bischoff opens today’s show speaking about the tweets sent out by Rip Rogers and Randy Orton last weekend. He says that for the most part, he agrees with the points made by both men. He says that he has always liked Orton and he has a lot of respect for Orton personally and professionally.

On the other hand, for as long as Bischoff can remember, veteran performers have had an issue with the young wave of performers that were making their way into the business.

When he was working in WCW, veteran performers in their late 30s and 40s at that time were complaining about guys like Chirs Jericho and Rey Mysterio Jr., because those guys were bringing a new element to the wrestling business and it was different compared to what the veteran performers were accustomed to. Bischoff says that this cycle appears to repeat itself in 5-7 year cycles.

Alberto Del Rio Feels WWE Is Ripping Off Their Top Superstars

While speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio talked about WWE having a monopoly on the wrestling industry. He also claims that several talents that left the indecent promotions have taken pay cuts up to 80 percent and he feels that several top Superstars of the company are being paid nothing.

“It’s horrible for the business, but you cannot blame that company. That company is doing what a company is supposed to do—monopolize, get the best talent from everywhere, and try to destroy the competition. They’re smart, you cannot blame them. The problem is with the talent. Just going there to be there with the promise of being on TV, but not even charging good money for your work, is not good business. We as wrestlers need to remember that this is a business. We started because we love the business and we stay in it because we have a lot of passion for it, but you have to be rewarded for your work. I was there and saw some of the main guys, new top heels, and new top babyfaces, get paid nothing for their matches. The new talent joining NXT is taking pay cuts to work there, sometimes even 80 percent less. You need to be rewarded for your work in a business.”

Former WWE Superstar Shelly Martinez Blames Depression on Batista

Former WWE Superstar Shelly Martinez announced on YouTube that she will be retiring from professional wrestling after this year.

“I’ve slowed down a lot but I haven’t retired yet but based on me just keep trying to make freaking wrestling work..”

She continued, “The time has definitely come and one of the signs that I know that wrestling is done for me is a couple. I’ve been having a real hard time these last couple of months and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ has been promoted and now is out. For those of you that know that me and Dave Bautista got in a fight backstage, that’s how I got fired – so it’s been interesting for me to drive around town and I see Dave Batista’s face everywhere.”

“There’s a lot of healing that I did through all of that but I was finding myself getting depressed. I would wonder why am I depressed and I would backtrack my day and a lot of times it was triggered by Batista.”

She then said that if she didn’t get fired then she probably wouldn’t live where she lives now and she probably wouldn’t have met her boyfriend if she had stayed with WWE. She said she is thankful for what she has now but she is tired of the BS and I’m tired of the fake and phoniness” from the wrestling business.

Jim Cornette Experience Recap – Vince McMahon Biopic, Reigns and Strowman Sightseeing in Rome, More!

Cornette opens today’s show by mentioning that two of his 2017 appearance dates have been cancelled. He also mentions that a recent booking he had stirred some controversy, after Austin Idol reportedly demanded an extra $100 on top of Cornette’s pay in order to appear at the show as well. Idol wanted to be paid more than Cornette because he was the biggest star on the show in his own opinion.

Cornette was always a fan of Idol throughout the years but he thought that was a very disrespectful move by Idol. He hopes to get some clarification on this in the coming days, because he felt like this was a personal slap in the face by Idol.

Speaking about the script for Pandemonium (the Vince McMahon biopic), Cornette says that a child must have written it because it’s complete rubbish. He has a strange feeling that the writer, Craig A. Williams, and the Producers were simply out to make a quick payday from Vince McMahon, who they must have known would never okay that script, and therefore would buy it from them.

Cornette comments on the idea that today’s wrestlers may actually be their own worst enemy. He says that some of today’s performers do things from time to time that really make you scratch your head, and the recent picture of Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman sightseeing together in Rome is one of those things.

Jinder Mahal Reveals the Secret to His Body Transformation

While speaking to Pratyay Gosh, Jinder Mahal talked about how he was able to get into his current physical shape and revealed that consistency is the secret:

“The secret is consistency. I literally haven’t had a cheat meal in 3-4 months. I haven’t eaten anything I shouldn’t have. Even now, on the tour, I have my cooling bag with me and I carry 5 meals with me so that I eat every 2 hours. I eat 30/40 grammes of carbohydrates, 30/40 grammes of proteins with every meal. Then there’s cardio 6 days a week and weight training 6 days a week. I also became straight-edge. I also do a lot of Olympic compound movements. Then there are lots of basic squats, lots of push-ups and other exercises. Overall, from diet to exercise, I’m seeing good results. I’m going to keep getting in better shape because not only do I look better but I feel better. I feel better inside the ring in terms of stamina and endurance, which is important if I want to become WWE Champion and have long matches every night.”

While Mahal has denied steroid use in multiple interviews, Dave Meltzer noted back in January that he believes the WWE Superstar is juicing. He made the following remarks after an episode of RAW, where Mahal appeared way bigger than he previously did:

“Jinder Mahal then came out and my God! Jinder Mahal’s traps have grown incredibly. He’s shredded. He looks like, I mean … anyway, Jinder Mahal has changed his physique completely in like a couple weeks. And he’s got acne all over his back.”

Meltzer continued, “He is what he is and if this was USADA (the United States Anti-Doping Agency), he would probably be in trouble.”

Randy Orton Issues Sarcastic Apology to Indy Marks & Indy Guys

Randy Orton took to his Twitter account and issued an apology to fans that were offended after he re-tweeted comments made by Rip Rogers. For those not aware, Rogers was very vocal about how independent wrestlers perform in today’s wrestling and focused on how too many of their matches consist of flips and dives.

Orton wrote, “Sorry to the Indy marks, Indy guys and old timers who do DIVES took offense….. just having a good time over a few drinks in Denmark closing the Smackdown Live tour….while beating Raw in making over 5 million dollars in the last 11 shows. Now I know to some that doesn’t equate to a standing room only crowd of 150 people paying $8 at an armory somewhere…. but in the big boy world that’s called putting asses in seats. So enjoy your flips, dives, and 20 superkicks per match. To each their own. I will go “dive” back into my 13th title run and get ready to “flip” when my bank statement comes this month…………headlock”

Prior to that, he posted the following:

The Rock Reveals Why He Didn’t Attend WrestleMania 33

Whiles speaking with Entertainment Reporter Chris Van Vliet, The Rock was asked why he didn’t attend this year’s WrestleMania 33 event.

He responded, “No I didn’t get a chance to, I was shooting at that time. We were just wrapping up Ballers in LA so I didn’t get a chance to make it.”
