Russo is joined on today’s show by Big Vito.

Russo informs that his first love was working on radio, and he’s been constantly looking to return to the radio booth for 26 years. He mentions that editing the WWE Magazine and writing professional wrestling kind of just fell in his lap and he never had a passion to do either of those things. For that reason he simply treated those things as a job and he felt bad about that for many years because everyone around him had a real passion for the wrestling business.

He says that having to wake up in the morning and go to work at a job that you hate has to be the worst thing in life. Vito agrees and mentions that he’s been in that situation in the past. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and get through the tough times in order to get to the spot you want to be in life.

Russo informs that he has started hosting a local radio show in Colorado, and he had Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler on the show as his first guest this past week. They discussed Andy Kaufman’s involvement in Memphis Wrestling and the new Netflix documentary, ‘Jim & Andy’. Russo points out that Kaufman and Lawler were 30 years ahead of their time in the sense that they incorporated a mainstream celebrity into a wrestling angle.

Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Phoenix Marie.

A listener calls into the show and asks Ryback how much his wrestling gear costs. He says the total cost for his singlets were around $400-500 which included shipping, and his boots would cost around $1,000. If he got his boots airbrushed they would cost anywhere between $1,200-1,400.

Another listener calls into the show and asks Ryback what the scariest part of his job is. He says the scariest part about being a professional wrestler in his opinion is the possibility of breaking your neck. He says that all types of piledrivers should be banned from all performers with a few exceptions such as The Undertaker or Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.

In his opinion, the piledriver is a move where the rewards simply don’t outweigh the risks. He recalls one independent performer who broke his neck and has been paralyzed ever since. This performer has spent a lot of time in the hospital and we’ll never hear about him in the wrestling business again, and that’s very unfortunate. Ryback thinks it’s far safer and easier to just replace the piledriver with another move.

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore. On this episode Lawler will pay tribute to his long-time friend, Lance Russell.

Russell passed away this week days after taking a fall at his son’s home. Russell was in a lot of pain and had to be heavily sedated. Lawler informs that Russell failed to ever truly emerge from his heavily-sedated state. In some ways Lawler feels that this may have been God’s way of sparing Russell the suffering of having to go through his daughter’s death, because his daughter had been battling cancer for a long time and passed away the exact same day that Russell was hospitalized.

Lawler informs that if it wasn’t for Lance Russell, there would have never been a ‘King Jerry Lawler’. Lawler was a tremendous artist growing up and had actually been offered a scholarship to attend art school. He had dreams of becoming a professional artist, and wanted to work for either DC or Marvel comics as a comic artist.

Lawler had always been a big professional wrestling fan and always watched Memphis Wrestling, hosted by Lance Russell. He recalls being asked to draw some of the professional wrestlers for the promotion’s use, and he’ll never forget the day that Lance Russell held up several pieces of his artwork live on the air. From there Russell led the charge in getting Lawler an opportunity to start learning the in-ring side of the business.
