Jerry Lawler wrestled Jeff Jarrett in a five minute match at Friday’s Memphis Grizzlies NBA Game. The two did some trash talking about each other’s cities before the match. Jarrett ended up getting the victory over the WWE Hall of Famer after he hit Lawler over the back with a guitar.

Jeff Jarrett Checks Into Rehab

It’s being reported tonight that Jeff Jarrett has checked into rehab. We’ve been reporting all week about Jarrett’s issues at a indie event where he apparently wrestled a match while inebriated and then no-showed for the same promotion the following night. He was also terminated by Impact Wrestling and Anthem on Monday, with the company cutting ties with both Jarrett and Global Force Wrestling.

According to this report, one source is saying that this is a WWE-sponsored rehab program. We can only hope that Jarrett takes full advantage of this time and this program and gets his life back on track.

Jerry Lawler On Kurt Angle’s Return To The Ring

WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry Lawler spoke about Kurt Angle’s return to a WWE ring for the first time in over 11 years on the most recent episode of his podcast.

“Kurt and I talked at-length about that [in the past], how much he wanted to still wrestle with WWE. He was happy with the contract and happy to be back with the WWE, but he was not crazy about the fact, I guess they had already told him that they didn’t think they wanted him to do things like get in the ring and wrestle. I know he was lobbying for that [to wrestle] and I know he really wanted to do that. I’m happy for Kurt.”

As we reported earlier this week, Terry Funk is scheduled to return to the ring, coming out of retirement once more, to team up with the Rock ‘n Roll Express to take on Jerry Lawler, Doug Gilbert, and Brian Christopher during weekend events for Big Time Wrestling on September 23rd and 24th.

Funk was recently a guest on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast to talk about coming out of retirement once more and working with Jerry Lawler through the years.

Coming Out Of Retirement (Again)

“How do I feel about it? I feel really great about it and I feel great that I am able to get back into the ring event though I’ve had a little bit of a physical problem. But I feel like I am prepared for it, I’ve worked hard at it and I am back in shape one more time. It is a great card that they’ve got there. I am looking forward to getting into the ring with the Rock N’ Roll Express and also going against Lawler one more time. What an idiot.”

Working With Jerry Lawler

“I certainly don’t feel blessed to be in there against “The King” because “The King” is nuts. We all know that. Jerry Lawler is as nuts as I am. He is going to try and be going in the ring as long as I’ve gone in the ring. I don’t know if he is going to try and catch up with me or what but Jerry Lawler is truly a legend in his area and his family is a legend and it is a pretty amazing thing.

“I’ve never been in anything but a chaotic match with Dusty Rhodes and him. Dusty and Lawler both were over bearing. Dusty and Lawler both, I don’t think I’ve ever called anybody else but those two this, “egg sucking dogs.” That is what both of them are. Jerry Lawler is also a pig. He wants all of the money, he wants everything. That is Jerry Lawler’s way and it is not my way because I am wonderful person and I’m a great guy but Jerry Lawler is not. Dusty Rhodes was okay but he couldn’t quite make being a football player and he played behind me the entire time at West Texas (State) and that is why he couldn’t stand me. I was just a little bit better than he was. I’d like to find that idiot kid of his Cody and I’d like to beat the hell out of Cody sometime. That would be a real pleasure. If Cody is around at the arena whenever I get there, I’ll take on Lawler first and I’ll take on Cody after and anybody else too.”

“I would like to be remembered, be respected and to be loved by the wrestling fans and to be thought of as giving 100% each time you stepped through the ropes. That means a great deal to me.”

It was reported earlier this week via Dave Meltzer that segment on Monday’s episode of RAW that featured John Cena and Roman Reigns was heavily scripted.

In an update, Vince McMahon reportedly spoke with both men on what he wanted said. Apparently the only thing that wasn’t scripted was when Reigns forgot his line and Cena mocked him for it.

As noted in our podcast recap, Jerry Lawler was asked about this segment. Lawler said that Dave Meltzer doesn’t know know everything and he summarizes by saying, “Meltzer, what a little dweeb he is”.

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jerry Lawler.

Lawler begins today’s show speaking about the MizTV segment from RAW this week, which featured LaVar Ball and his two sons. He says that this was certainly a silly segment, but it undoubtably accomplished its goal of getting people to talk about Monday Night RAW.

Lawler says that ‘wrestling purists’ who had a major issue with this segment need to chill out and settle down. WWE tries to be topical and if they have an opportunity to bring someone on RAW who has been in the public eye, they’ll do it every single time.

Moore mentions that Cody Rhodes dropped Lawler’s name on his conference call earlier this week. Rhodes was asked who he’d like to wrestle moving forward and he said Kenny Omega and Jerry Lawler. Lawler says he’d absolutely accept the invitation to face Rhodes one on one, and he anticipates that could happen in the very near future.
