It was noted yesterday in our betting odds report for tonight’s WWE No Mercy event that Jason Jordan was the favorite to win his match against The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship.

As we get closer to the start-time of the event, there has been a big shift in the odds for tonight’s title match between the two. Jordan, who was once the favorite is now the underdog in the match against The Miz, according to Bookmaker Paddy Power. The Miz is sitting at a 4/7 favorite to retain his title while Jason Jordan is listed as a 6/5 underdog.

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.

Russo says that while RAW and Smackdown Live weren’t great shows this week, there were a number of positives that gave him hope for the future. Of course there were a number of negative things as well, but Russo points out that it’s refreshing that there were things on the shows this week that he actually wants to talk about.

Russo didn’t like that RAW booked Roman Reigns versus Jason Jordan one week after they booked John Cena versus Jordan. These two matches were carbon copies of each other, and just because Jordan is having good matches that doesn’t mean that he’s going to get over. Now, if these competitive losses lead to frustration from Jordan or disappointment from Kurt Angle to further the storyline, Russo is okay with it.

He thinks that WWE has gone to the well too many times with the Cena/Reigns ‘shoot’ promos. The first one was very well done and it felt real, but the last two times felt like contrived wrestling promos. Russo also says that he didn’t mind Cena brining up Reigns’ failed drug test, but he thought Reigns really needed to have a comeback in that spot.

For many of you that tuned into the WWE Network to watch the SummerSlam Kickoff Pre-show matches, you may have noticed that the arena looked nearly empty.

According to our correspondents at Sunday’s event, fans were not allowed to enter into the building until 5PM, which is the exact time that Kickoff show started. The Hardy Boyz & Jason Jordan vs. Miztourage match started around 5:30ish and a vast majority of the fans were still outside the arena waiting to get in.

Dave Meltzer indicated in the latest issue of Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Jason Jordan may turn heel.

The belief is that if the original plan doesn’t pan out with Jason benefiting from a rub from Kurt Angle, they could have him turn on Angle. WWE could do a storyline where Jason made the whole thing up and that Kurt and the fans were stupid enough to believe it.

The feeling right now is that people don’t buy it the storyline but don’t care about it enough to hate it. If this continues, we may see a change soon.

As seen on tonight’s episode of RAW in Toronto, Jason Jordan defeated enhancement talent Jean-Pierre Goulet, billed from Quebec City.

The individual that portrayed Goulet was Israeli wrestler Tomer Shalom, who has worked the Canadian indie scene for several years now. His name was a mix of former WWE Superstar Jean-Pierre LaFitte and former WWE Superstar Rene Goulet, also from Quebec City.

WWE announced that Jason Jordan will appear on the MizTV segment on next week’s episode of RAW. Dave Meltzer indicated on the recent installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE most-likely booked this angle to setup a possible feud between The Miz and Jordan for next month’s SummerSlam event for an Intercontinental Title match.

There was speculation that Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose would be challenging The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship on the card, but those plans appear to be nixed.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything new regarding the Intercontinental Title being defended at SummerSlam.
