Daniel Bryan announced in the opening segment of tonight’s WWE 205 Live that the new General Manager for the cruiserweight brand is former Impact Wrestling talent Rockstar Spud. Spud will be going by the name Drake Maverick moving forward.

Maverick announced a sixteen man tournament for the vacant WWE Cruiserweight title will kick off tonight. The finals of the terminate will take place at WrestleMania 34, where a new champion will be crowned.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Impact Wrestling fired Hania after she refused to do a 90-second job to newcomer Su Yung at the recent set of Impact television tapings in Orlando, Florida.

Hania made her Impact Wrestling debut back on November 10th, 2017, at a television taping in Ottawa, Ontario, where she attacked Rosemary following “The Demon Assassin”‘s victory over KC Spinelli.

Jeremy Borash tweeted news of her arrival and the angle actually aired on last night’s episode of Impact Wrestling.

Hania worked three matches at the recent set of tapings. She faced off against Amber Nova at the January 10th tapings and had matches with Rosemary the next two nights.

It was rumored this past weekend that EC3 could be headed to WWE now that he’s no longer obligated to Impact Wrestling. Dave Meltzer confirmed these rumors in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter and he is in fact headed to WWE.

In an update, EC3 was actually spotted at the WWE Performance Center on Tuesday. This is a strong indication that he will be arriving in the company very soon. It remains to be seen if he will head to NXT or make a debut on the main roster. We will keep you updated if we receive more details on his WWE return.

We reported earlier this week that Bobby Lashley & EC3 both finished with Impact Wrestling this past weekend at the television tapings and the belief is that they could be headed to WWE.

PWInsider reports that EC3 is completely free from his Impact obligations and is free to sign with WWE at any time. Lashley won’t be free until February 1st, so that would eliminate any chances of him making a special appearance at the upcoming Royal Rumble event.

Here are some backstage notes and spoilers from tonight’s Impact Wrestling tapings in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios:

* Lucha Undergrounds’ Brian Cage is backstage at tonight’s tapings and will be debuting this week. He was also at last night’s tapings but not used.

* Anthem has attempted to bring in Pat Kennedy in as a producer for this week’s tapings but he was too busy with his real estate business.

* It was speculated that Moose had suffered an injury at Wednesday night tapings. The belief is that all signs are positive for his knee.

PWInsider reports that Ricohet is expected to sign with WWE and start with the company early next year.

For those not aware, Ricohet worked as Prince Puma for Lucha Underground and has been expected to sign with the company for sometime now. Impact Wrestling made an offer to him but was unsuccessful in signing him.

PWI also tease that a “very prominent female independent talent” will be signing as well, but didn’t elaborate who.
