Cody Rhodes recently spoke with Wrestledope.com. Here are the highlights from the interview:

Being free from WWE: “The Feeling, the sensation behind it is, it’s exciting to cherry pick and select and be your own boss and to be in control of your own brand, however it’s a lot of work.”

Wrestling Kurt Angle in UK: “To have a record crowd for What Culture, to be in there with Kurt Angle and not to be just like Kurt Angle plus garnish. For it instead to be, Kurt Angle V Cody Rhodes, our second match actually, it was very vindicating. It’s also nice, you know, the greatest revenge in all the world is success so it’s nice to be vindicated.”

British Wrestling stars working in the United States: “In America, we have “The British are coming!”, when it comes to the Revolutionary War but I always equate it to the current situation with guys like Will and Marty and Zack where they are literally like invading America with their talent and the effect and the ramifications of that so it’s cool to come over here(UK)”.

Exclusive contracts in the business: “I understand why not. But there is allot of dated minds and allot of old school mentality. It’s like were almost reverting to the most traditional which is just a dang handshake like Hey I’m glad to be here and I’m going to give you my absolute best. I worked for a big corporation for a decade for the majority of my youth. Now I really like the opportunity to essentially play my music on as many brands and stuff as I can and Ring of Honor and Impact have been exceptional. They have been exceptional about that, there has been no pushback, and it’s all lined
up exactly how we hoped.”

Impact backstage environment: “My experience was the utmost engine operating at peak efficiency. Billy and Dixie were extremely wonderful. All had feedback, creative input. My experience from the time I went and filmed with the Corvette in Nashville to when I left the tapings to come overseas was wonderful.”

Working with Billy Cogan: “I’m passed the concept of, oh he’s not a wrestler, he shouldn’t be involved in wrestling. He is an entertainer and they fall in line. An entertainer with a ton of equity, worldwide experience, proven. It’s Billy man, he’s famous!, he’s a rock star!. I thought he was wonderful, great for pro wrestling. He had some music made for me and didn’t know I wanted to use my other music. That was one of the hardest moments of perhaps my life. To see his face when I heard the music and know that I’m going to ask him to use my other music. Especially someone who is a musician. It’s a moment frozen in time. Me and Billy’s’ relationship I want to build off that moment to where we are good buds because that was a tough one!.”

Leaving WWE: “I did make every effort I possibly could. It just was a matter of, no faith in me at a certain juncture turns around well you know what I don’t have faith in you guys either. But let’s not end on such a sour note. It’s rather dramatic and seems sourer than it really is. It’s not, the Rhodes in WWE have a wonderful history. I’m glad they let me go, they are the house that built me and you never now I might be there again one day”.

Welcome to Survivor Series 2017, where Raw and SmackDown go head-to-head in the most bitter rivalry in years!

Team Raw Vs. Team SmackDown Live. Team Angle Vs. Team McMahon. This massive five-on-five match will determine which brand is better, with Shane McMahon looking to prove SD Live as the A-show, while Angle is fighting for his job. Shane led an invasion of Raw a month ago, which led to a response from Raw on the final episode of SmackDown Live. Shane and Angle have been at each others throats for weeks and now Triple H has inserted himself into the match, adding even more drama to the proceedings, which were already at boiling point. This match is sure to have repercussions for the many months ahead.

Every other match on the show tonight, minus one, is also to be Raw Vs. SmackDown, and none is bigger than Brock Lesnar Vs. AJ Styles. The Champion of SmackDown Live and the WWE takes on the Champion of Raw and the Universe. This match changed drastically once Jinder Mahal was removed and Styles inserted in, which has led to a huge increase in anticipation. What was once a relative snorefest, became a must-see match that has the potential to tear the house down.

The Shield will also take to the ring tonight to defend Raw’s honour against The New Day. This will be The Shield’s first PPV match as a unit since reforming, and they take on SmackDown’s resident funnymen. This match could very well steal the show and will be one of the most anticipated bouts of the night. Beyond that, The Miz faces Baron Corbin, The Bar take-on The Uso’s, Alexa Bliss battles Charlotte and Team Raw’s Women will face Team SmackDown’s ladies.

The Survivor Series Kick-Off Show will begin at 5 PM ET, yes a two-hour pre-show, with Enzo Amore defending his Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto, Matt Hardy will face Elias, and Breezango takes-on Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. According to PWInsider, there was a lot of interest in bringing in former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger into the company when Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantel were heading the creative for Impact Wrestling. Mantell even mentioned during a conference call for Global Force Wrestling back in July that Swagger may pop up in GFW.

Swagger mentioned to WrestleZone earlier this year that he would have enjoyed working with Dutch Mantell again.

“It would be awesome to work with Dirty Dutch Mantell again, good friend of mine. So we’ll just have to see. I’m in the process of lining up a calendar, and getting a lot of shows, I think I’m booked for the summer with shows. So I’m gonna be anywhere, you can see me in Australia, on Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore tour.”

It’s almost safe to say that those plans are no longer on the table, as Jarrett and Mantel are no longer head of creative for the company. If he was to appear on Impact television, it wouldn’t be until Bound for Glory or after, as the company has already taped all the television up until that date.

“The Power of Love is Strong…..And BABY makes 3. Mike and I are happy to announce I am 13 weeks pregnant!! Life is what happens when you are making other plans. This is the universe’s plan for us. Last year Mike and I tried to expand our family when we had a lighter schedule and this year we thought we had put those plans on hold but apparently that is not what is meant to be and we are so happy for our new path. Mike has wanted children for a long time (he is gonna be a very good daddy) and my biological clock just recently started ticking!! Timing is everything and now is our perfect time for family.

As far as the future… WWE is and has been my dream job and I plan on coming back with my doctor’s approval after the baby is born and get’s plenty of mommy time. But, until then, I will be posting my REAL updates on my social media accounts. There is so much pressure to have the perfect pregnancy, gain the right amount of weight, and be super stylish. But, let me just say I’ve gained 7 pounds, been nauseous everyday, and wore yoga pants every day since 6 weeks. I’m not perfect. Haha… life is messy. My husband is a recovering prescription drug addict, we are in the middle of buying a house, we are moving across county, and I’m pregnant!!! I figure I can either stress or feel blessed. I feel blessed. I choose happiness. WE choose happiness. Thank you to our families, friends, WWE, and the fans for all of the support! Footage has surfaced online of Braun Strowman flipping off Roman Reigns at a recently WWE Live Event in Australia. Braun also appears to shout obscenities at Reigns, ahead of their house show main event in Brisbane.

You can see footage of the incident embedded below:

Reigns went on to win the match at the live vent, hitting “The Monster Among Men” with a spear through a table to pick up the victory.

As previously reported, Enzo Amore revealed on Instagram that he spent $10,000 on a ticket to Saturday’s Boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

Kevin Owens caught wind of Enzo’s Instagram post and mentioned that he spent $6.94 on some House Smoked Split Chicken Breast.

While appearing on Wade Keller’s podcast, former WWE writer Kevin Eck recalled his time in WWE and discussed how talents are judged based on their performances with Cena. Eck would reveal that Cena wasn’t impressed with Dolph’s work.

“Cena will be very honest to his assessment of you. Dolph Ziggler’s the first guy that comes to mind, when they had a singles program together, in the beginning, John was all for it. John wanted to work with Dolph. And they did the house show loop together and as the heel, the heel traditionally calls the matches and John was letting Dolph call the matches and he wasn’t impressed.”

“And apparently John gave his assessment to Vince of Dolph and I think that sort of played into Vince’s thoughts already about Dolph and once that program ended it ended rather abruptly because Vince told us in a booking meeting one day: ‘God, I think we’re doing a disservice to John, this is bringing John down’ and so Dolph was moved out of that program.”

John Cena has received a lot of criticism during his time in the WWE. Big match John developed quite the reputation for squashing talent during the mid-late 2000’s and many potential stars fell at his hands during his prime years.

Things have changed in recent years ,though, and we saw this last Tuesday night, Cena is more than willing to put over other talents when he is required. As Cena begins to take more and more time away from the WWE, the company now depend on him to come in and help get some of their newer talents over.

Last week’s Smackdown saw Cena give Shinsuke Nakamura arguably his best match in the company to date and the fact that he put Nakamura over clean really made Shinsuke look like something special.

Say what you want about Cena, but the guy knows how to make people look like a million bucks when he is asked to and whether you want to admit or not, there are a lot of superstars in the company who wouldn’t be where they are right now if it weren’t for Super-Cena, and here are five big examples of that.

Daniel Bryan

Back in 2013, Daniel Bryan was on an unstoppable rise to the top of the card and his main event match with John Cena at Summerslam was, in the eyes of the fans at least, going to be the night he finally broke through the glass ceiling.

With Cena taking time off after the match due to an injury, fans didn’t expect this match to be quite what it was. Sure, Bryan was one of the best wrestlers in the world at the time, but fans were expecting Cena to be protected somewhat during the bout.

How wrong we were, though. Cena and Bryan tore the house down in what was one of the finest matches of both of their WWE careers. Cena did the duty as well, putting Bryan over clean and sending the fans into the rafters.

Of course, Bryan’s moment was to be short lived, when Randy Orton, along with Triple H screwed Bryan out of the WWE belt, beginning what was one of the most iconic movements in modern wrestling history.

While appearing on Wrestle Zone Radio, Ring of Honor CEO Joe Koff discussed the topic of CM Punk possibly returning to ROH and mentioned that the door is always open if he wanted to return.

“CM Punk would be an unbelievable addition for Ring of Honor. I don’t know where that would be or could be. It would be a dream. Wrestling talent knows this: once you are a part of Ring of Honor you are always a part of Ring of Honor. Our door is always open to people who want to come back and perform at our level, with our style and for our fans. That would be a dream. That would be unbelievable…CM Punk, if you’re listening or reading, I hope you are, you are always welcome in our house. You know that. He knows that. We’ve had conversations in the past through people. He knows that there is a welcome sign for him.”

When asked if he has spoken to Punk, Koff responded, “I haven’t spoken to him personally and I think it’s through intermediaries or whatever. I think his first goal was to be involved in his MMA stuff.”
