In recent years the WWE has shown us that they love nothing more than a good old dose of nostalgia. Vince McMahon loves feeding the WWE universe some member berries and with Wrestlemania season, and the Raw 25th Anniversary show right around the corner, you can expect to see plenty of familiar faces back in the WWE in the coming weeks. While many of these faces will be just be showing up for one-offs and cheap pops, there will be a few who will be returning to the WWE for one last run. 2017 saw the returns of The Hardy Boyz, Shelton Benjamin and most notably, Kurt Angle. So just who will the WWE drag back for one last run in 2018? Hell, some of these faces might even be competing in this year’s Royal Rumble as surprise entrants. Let’s take a look at which superstars will be making a return to the company in 2018.

Batista

Batista recently mentioned on a podcast with JR that he has been talking to Vince McMahon and that he has expressed his desire to make a full time return to the company in the very near future. Batista’s last run in the company, back in 2014, is better off forgotten but this time, there is no Daniel Bryan standing in his way and you’d imagine that the company will have learned their mistakes from his last outing.

Batista has also publically expressed that if he were to return to the company, he would want to feud with his former tag-team partner Triple H, and while the fans may not be lining up to see these stars of yesteryear squaring up once again, it is a small price to pay for all the potential dream bouts Batista’s return could give us.

For many of you that tuned into the WWE Network to watch the SummerSlam Kickoff Pre-show matches, you may have noticed that the arena looked nearly empty.

According to our correspondents at Sunday’s event, fans were not allowed to enter into the building until 5PM, which is the exact time that Kickoff show started. The Hardy Boyz & Jason Jordan vs. Miztourage match started around 5:30ish and a vast majority of the fans were still outside the arena waiting to get in.

It doesn’t look like you will see the “BROKEN” gimmick being used by Matt and Jeff Hardy on WWE programming anytime soon, as Anthem no longer wants to negotiate with The Hardy Boyz anymore.

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Anthem’s Ed Nordholm touched based on the on-going issues between Anthem Sports and the rights to the “BROKEN” gimmick. When asked if The Hardy Boyz initial investment of $3000 into the gimmick would change the dynamic of the ownership, Nordholm explained why he doesn’t think it does.

“No. The company spent millions of dollars producing television last year, including all of the shows that incorporate the various aspects of the “Broken Brilliance.” I don’t know whether Jeff and Matt had some out-of-pocket expenses that they might have had on the volcano and the like, but that would not change, in any way, shape, or form, what their contracts say about who owns the IP. If they had some out-of-pocket expenses, they certainly never brought them to my attention. To suggest that they somehow funded the show is absurd.”

When asked about the possibly selling the intellectual property, Nordholm revealed that the door has been shut on The Hardy Boyz and they never plan on negotiating with them again.

“I’ve stopped thinking about this. We have a show to put on, and a company and a brand. We’ve got things on our plate that are more important than sorting out the “Broken Brilliance.” I made a genuine effort to resolve something to benefit the Hardys as a goodwill gesture to Matt. It didn’t reach a conclusion and we’re moving on. We’re not going back to it, I’m not interested in opening a new dialogue, I’m not interested in opening another conversation about it. We made our best effort, it didn’t happen, and I’m not going to negotiate all over again.”

TMZ recently caught up with the famous rapper, Lil Yachty who was donning an old-school Hardy Boyz/Team Extreme T-shirt. When asked if he would ever step into the squared circle, the 19-year-old  rapper said he already had meetings with the WWE to make a “special appearance” for the company.

Yachty said that he wants to take a major beatdown by some WWE Superstars if he ever shows up in the squared circle. He then talked about his favorite tag team, The Hardy Boyz and also talked about how his signature move would be.

WWE announced that Sheamus and Cesaro will defend their RAW tag team championships against The Hardy Boyz on Monday’s episode of RAW. WWE wrote the following regarding the match:

Just one week after losing the Raw Tag Team Championship in a brutal Steel Cage Match at WWE Extreme Rules, The Hardy Boyz invoke their rematch clause against new titleholders Cesaro & Sheamus this Monday night, live on Raw.

Last Monday, The Celtic Warrior boasted that Matt & Jeff were “sitting at home, licking their wounds — Jeff gluing in his false tooth — just dreaming about their rematch.” This Monday night, the dream becomes a reality much sooner than the champions likely anticipated.

Can The Hardy Boyz reclaim the titles they won during their triumphant return at WrestleMania, or will Cesaro & Sheamus continue to raise the figurative bar in Team Red’s tandem division?

Brock Lesnar has also been announced to return to the show to address Samoa Joe’s attack on Paul Heyman.

• With only six matches announced for the card, the Fatal 5-Way main event is expected to receive a lot of time.
• While there is no pre-show match announced for the show, it is very possible that they either add a cruiserweight match or R-Truth vs. Goldust.
• With The Hardy Boyz winning every match heading to their bout against Sheamus and Cesaro, it is possible that they drop the titles.
• The Drifter is expected to attack The Miz because he “owes him one”.
• Per betting odds, Samoa Joe is expected to win the Fatal 5-Way. It should be noted that betting odds are not always correct.

We are about an hour away from Extreme Rules and the final betting odds are in. It was noted earlier today that Seth Rollins was the favorite to win the #1 contender match for the WWE Universal Championship, however there has been another switch. Samoe Joe, who was the favorite earlier this week, is once again the favorite to win the match.

The Miz (-4800) is favored to win where Dean Ambrose (+1600) will lose the title if he is disqualified.

Alexa Bliss (-2300) is favored to retain the Women’s Championship against Bayley (+1100) in a Kendo Stick-on-a-Pole match.

Cesaro and Sheamus (-16,000) are favored to win the Tag Team Championship from The Hardy Boyz (+4000) in a Steel Cage match.

Neville (-7500) is favored to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Austin Aries (+2500) in a Submission match.

Rich Swann & Sasha Banks (-6000) are favored to win the Mixed Tag Team match against Noam Dar & Alicia Fox (+2000).
