WWE announced earlier today that Jonathan Coachman would be returning to WWE on a full-time bases as an announcer for the RAW team. You can check out their announcement below:

“Ladies and gentlemen, “The Coach” has returned.

Jonathan Coachman, a longtime WWE interviewer and broadcaster and former ESPN personality, has signed with WWE to once again be part of the Raw announce team, WWE.com can confirm.

Coachman’s TV announcing duties will officially begin tonight, when he joins Michael Cole and Corey Graves at the Team Red announce desk.

Meanwhile, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T will resume his duties as a panelist on WWE’s pay-per-view Kickoff broadcasts and will continue to make appearances on Raw and beyond as a WWE ambassador. “

Christian opens today’s show by speaking about his experience at RAW25 last Monday. He informs that he hadn’t been backstage at RAW in a long time, but after arriving there and talking with everyone he felt like he never left. It was nice to get out in front of the crowd and get some closure on that side of his career.

He really enjoyed his segment, even though he knew going in that it was going to be short. He loves that Jason Jordan is developing a character, and the audience is eating it up right now. Edge informs that he wasn’t sure about the Jordan/Seth Rollins tag team initially, but they’ve been proving him wrong over the last couple of weeks.

Edge and Christian welcome Corey Graves to the show.

Edge asks Graves how he deals with his hefty WWE schedule. Graves says he doesn’t mind the busy schedule because he’s always preferred to be busy his entire life. Even nowadays when he’s home for 3 or 4 days on an odd week he nearly goes crazy. Edge points out that when you’re gone your family has a way of doing things, so when you get home you become a huge “fleshy wrench” that’s been thrown into their plans.

Graves informs that he had an awesome experience calling RAW 25 last Monday. He admits that he became a kid again during the Steve Austin/Vince McMahon segment. Graves was sitting ringside when Austin’s music hit, and he says that was probably the loudest he’s ever heard an arena.

Edge and Christian open today’s show speaking about the WrestleKingdom match between Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. They both thought it was a great match, and while they would have loved to see a traditional match between between these two men, they understand why it was necessary to go straight to a “No DQ” gimmick match.

Edge believes this was a one-off match, so they couldn’t build to a “No DQ” rematch. This stipulation also protected Jericho who has had quite a lot of time off recently. It’s amazing what Jericho can still do at 47-years old but his age is still a factor, so although Jericho is smart enough to put together a fantastic traditional match, this stipulation allowed them to pull out all the bells and whistles.

Edge and Christian welcome Beth Phoenix to the show.

Phoenix mentions that she just got home from meetings for the upcoming Mixed Match Challenge. She will be a part of the commentary team alongside Michael Cole and Corey Graves, and she points out that she’s very excited to learn this side of the business. After years away from the business she had forgotten how hard the travel is, and she admits that she’s exhausted right now.

Paige was informed earlier this week by WWE that she will not be cleared to return to action following her recently injury.

PWInsider reports Paige was given the news this past Monday and multiple sources are saying that she is “done” as an in-ring competitor. It was first believed that Paige only suffered a stinger in her match two weeks ago against Sasha Banks but further tests have indicated that her condition is worse than expected. The decision was made not to clear her once they got the results of the tests back. Paige’s situation is very similar to what happened with Edge back in 2011, when he was forced into retirement.

Moving forward the company may assign her an on-air personality role, where she doesn’t have to get physical but still have a position in the company. This has been done with talents such as Daniel Bryan, who is the SmackDown GM and Corey Graves, who is an announcer for RAW and SmackDown.

Taz opens today’s show by sending his prayers and best wishes to the friends and families of those affected by the senseless tragedy that unfolded in Las Vegas Sunday night. This was a terrible act of violence and he hopes the city of Las Vegas and all those involved can find a way to get through this.

A listener calls into the show and asks Taz if he thinks WWE would ever consider bringing the NFL’s anthem controversy into their storylines. Taz says that he’s fairly certain that WWE would never entertain the idea of doing that. WWE is a publicly traded company, and with the anthem controversy being such a culturally divisive topic, he’d be very surprised to see something like that on WWE programming.

Taz discusses the Twitter battle between Corey Graves and Enzo Amore that occurred over the weekend. Graves initially tweeted out that he failed as a father because his son danced like Amore after reaching second base in his baseball game. Amore responded by saying that Graves failed as a wrestler and that’s why WWE dressed him up and sat him behind the commentary booth.

Dave Meltzer indicated on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon was not happy with the negative reaction Bayley received Monday night during her interview where commented on her injury she suffered in her match against Nia Jax.

Meltzer mentioned that when McMahon doesn’t like the way something is playing out on live television, he directs one of the announcers to comment that the situation is “bizarro world” and that is what Corey Graves ended up saying when the boos rained down.

WWE has footage of Matt and Jeff Hardy being interviewed by Corey Graves on the WWE Network. Graves asks about the “Broken Hardys” gimmick and Matt had the following remarks to say regarding the chances of it re-surfacing in WWE:

“I definitely think there is a chance. It’s a work in progress. Unfortunately, because of legal reasons, I really can’t go into it right now but I find it very flattering and humbling that every time we come and wrestle in front of the WWE Universe, they chant and they address it and they acknowledge it.”

Matt added, “When it happens, and I’m not even going to say if, when it happens, it’s going to be the most exciting thing to hit WWE programming in a long, long time. We’ve got to keep people guessing.”

As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, Corey Graves stopped mid-commentary after receiving a text message of some sort and immediately approached Kurt Angle regarding it. Kurt revealed that the contents of the message might “ruin him,” which has WWE fans speculating the meaning behind the big angle.

Bryan Alvarez speculated on Wrestling Observer Live that this angle could potentially lead to the return of Stephanie McMahon to weekly WWE television. While not confirmed, her return could happen as early as next week, but the “text message” angle is expected to be a big deal for Angle’s character.
