Sasha Banks spoke with NBC Sports about the upcoming Women’s Royal Rumble. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Role she wants to have in the women’s Royal Rumble: “I don’t know if I would want to start off first. I would have to do extra cardio to prepare and with the holiday season I’ve been eating a lot, so I don’t know if I would be ready for that … just kidding (laughs). Honestly, I would rather get that lucky number 30 and throw everyone out that’s left. I don’t want to sweat my makeup off. I want to look good! But no, I haven’t seriously thought about it or had a chance to because I’m still kind of in that shock moment and I’ve been more thinking about what legend could be in the match or if we’ll have girls from NXT be in the match because with [the] SmackDown and Raw [rosters] we don’t have enough to get to that 30 number yet. The potential of what legend can I work has me more excited than which number I’ll be in the Royal Rumble match, but I think when I get closer to the actual Royal Rumble, that’s when I’ll get more of my nerves. I don’t want to say I’m in shock because I guessed that this would happen, but it’s still so crazy to kick off 2018 knowing that the women are going to have a Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble. It’s really cool.”

Which former WWE stars she’d like to see come back for the women’s Royal Rumble: “I would love to hear Trish Stratus’ music. Of course Lita, Molly Holly, Jazz, Jacqueline, man even Victoria. It would be an honor to be in the ring with any of those girls. Beth Phoenix. Of course I want to win it, but at the same time, I would just want her to pick me up and throw me over the top. I would mark out, but I would land on my hands and go back into the ring like Kofi Kingston (laughs). Any of those girls would be incredible, but of course I would love to see girls from NXT get the opportunity, but of course they wouldn’t win it because I would be the last person standing.”

The storyline dictating when a women’s match will main event Wrestlemania:“Exactly and that’s the number one thing is. I don’t just want something to be given to us just to put that little stamp like ‘Oh look the women are doing it now it’s cool.’ No. My goal is to main event WrestleMania and if we’re going to main event it, I need it to be the greatest storyline ever. I need the fans to be invested. I just don’t want to get handed something because they’re putting a first time ever [match] for women. I want it to be a good storyline and I want the crowd to care because those are the moments that…I feel like the reason people talk about the Brooklyn match [I had] with Bayley so much is because of the history between me and Bayley. You know that she fought from the very beginning to get the women’s championship and for me, I fought to keep that and to show people that I’m the best. People are invested in the storylines more than just putting a name on something and bam! First time ever, you know what I mean?”

Alexa Bliss recently spoke with ESPN. Here are some highlights from the interview:

Idea to act like a brat: “So I was at the airport and this little kid would not go through security and just threw a fit in the middle of the floor and did the whole thing with shaking his legs and arms. His parents were just standing there looking like, ‘We don’t know what to do!’ They were annoyed, and I was like, ‘Man, that’s a really bratty thing to do and I’m going to do it.’”

Her character being the opposite of who she really is: “When it comes to the Alexa Bliss character, everyone says the character has to be an extension of yourself turned up. But I feel like I am the complete opposite of Alexa Bliss. When I came up with the Alexa Bliss character, I wanted to be the girl that everyone knew. There was always that girl in high school who was mean to everybody. She was mean and rude but everyone still voted for her to be homecoming queen. That girl. And I wanted to portray that girl. Because I knew that girl in high school. I knew girls like that.”

Character change in NXT: “When I first joined with Murphy, I had to make a character change. I wasn’t confident in myself about that at all, but I remember my mom telling me that once something clicks with me … I had to … come in and kick the door down and let everyone know who I am.”

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show speaking about last night’s episode of NXT.

He points out that at the end of Takeover, we saw Cole, Fish and O’Reilly standing tall over Drew McIntyre. Because of this, he thought it was strange that McIntyre opened up last night’s episode of NXT with a promo. He says that McIntyre’s a kick ass babyface, so NXT officials should let him kick ass.

Taz feels that the three heels should have opened the show with a promo segment, and then the heroic babyface (McIntyre) could have stormed the ring and attacked all three men. As a former Champion himself, Taz says that McIntyre should have stood up for himself here creatively.

As the show progressed Peyton Royce took on Ruby Riot, and he thought these girls had a good match. He has liked both women for a while, and he also likes the pairing of Royce and Kay. However, he thought the announce team were somewhat over the top during this match, and he says it’s simply impossible to make every match feel epic. The NXT announce team needs to pick their spots to react like that in Taz’s opinion.

...

Natalya mentioned in Calgary Sun column that she writes for, wrote about her recent SummerSlam victory over Naomi to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. She wrote about people that have been asking her on Twitter on how it feels to be the Women’s Champion and that she hasn’t slept in days because of her excitement.

“This past Sunday, more than 16,128 people at the sold-out Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. — and millions more at home — witnessed the most special moment of my career, when I won the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

I shared the stage with my opponent, Naomi, who truly is one of the best women I have ever competed against in my WWE career. To say Naomi pushed me to my limits at SummerSlam would be a huge understatement. She challenged me in a way that made me grateful that I trained so hard in the Hart Family Dungeon … because everything I have worked for in wrestling led to that match against her. No pressure: only 180 countries around the world are watching on the WWE Network. Eeeek!”

Natalya also mentioned that she was shaking when and wanted to burst into tears when she took the title and raised it above her head when she defeated Naomi by submission.

“So lost in a moment that I’ve dreamed of since I was a young girl that I almost forgot to stay in character. I am currently a “bad girl” in the WWE! I composed myself and saved the tears for when I got backstage. I also should have worn waterproof mascara, but I digress.

Raising that championship, which has been held by so many great women before me, symbolized so much for me. Not only I am representing the WWE’s talented women’s division, but I’m also a role model for young girls around the world chasing their own dreams. For most of my life, I’ve envisioned that moment I was crowned the women’s champ. After 10 years in WWE, my vision became a reality.”

You can check out the full column on Calgary Sun here.
