Laurel Van Ness has announced her departure from Impact Wrestling moments after tonight’s television tapings concluded. She sent out the following tweet:

As previously noted, Laurel asked for her release from the company a while back but it was not immediately granted. It now appears that the company granted it and she will be free to work wherever she chooses.

Don Callis commented on rumors/speculation that Chris Jericho could be coming to Impact Wrestling now that Callis has a position in the company creatively. Callis mentioned that if Jericho was coming to the company, that would be news to him and he pointed out that he doesn’t put a lot of stock into rumors.

“I’ve read a lot of rumors about different talents. There is the one you mentioned (Rey Mysterio). I’ve heard about Chris Jericho which, if he is, I wish he’d tell me since we’ve been good friends for so many years. I don’t put a lot of stock in rumors. People look at who is available out there and fans think about who they’d LIKE to see in there. I totally get it but I don’t put a lot of stock in rumors.”

While Jericho isn’t expected to work this year’s Royal Rumble or WrestleMania events, there is speculation that he will be working another New Japan Pro Wrestling event later this year.

Impact Wrestling has once again changed the logo for their company. We’ve lost count how many times they have done this now. As you can see in the photo below from tonight’s tapings, they removed the hexagon shape from the logo and changed the green to blue.

It was reported a few weeks back that Matt Sydal has officially signed a contract with Impact Wrestling after working for the company since April.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Sydal is allowed to book his own independent dates rather than having the company book them for him. New talents are apparently under “per-date” deals.

While speaking to The Pancakes and Powerslams, former Knockout Angelina Love talked about her time with Impact Wrestling and revealed the reason why she decided to finally call it quits after 10 years with the company.

“Once [Davey Richards and I] had our blow-off match, the writing was on the wall, and I’m just at a point in my life where I’m a mother, I’ve been with Impact for 10 years. I saw where it was going, and it just was not something that I [was interested in]. Use me full force, because I’m worth it, or I gotta go. I know my worth.”

While participating in Impact Wrestling’s conference call this week, Alberto El Patron was asked about his ex-girlfriend’s return to WWE programming and said that she’s doing a fantastic job.

“It’s fantastic, it was just about time. I used to say this all the time, people forget that she had neck surgery, screws behind her neck,” El Patron said. “That’s the reason why she was out of the business and it takes time to recover from something like that and then she started working really hard for her big comeback, and now she’s there. She’s doing what she has been doing since the beginning of her career in WWE. She’s killing it, she’s doing a fantastic job. I said it before and I’ll say it again, she has all the potential to be the most successful Diva of all time. We have to give her time.”

As previously reported, Paige revealed a few weeks back that she is single but didn’t elaborate when exactly the split took place.

Alberto El Patron mentioned during today’s Impact Wrestling teleconference call that he’s considering leaving wrestling and hinted at possibly doing a retirement tour in 2019.

El Patron said that while he loves “real wrestling fans,” the presence of “keyboard warriors and the dark side of the business” have made him consider giving wrestling up to do something else with his life. He said that he will work through all of 2018 before the possible retirement tour the year after.

Matt Sydal defeated EC3 to win the Grand Championship at Thursday’s Impact television tapings in Ottawa. The match is scheduled to air during the Genesis themed episode of Impact in January.

PWInsider reports that some talents at this week’s Impact tapings were unhappy that Alberto El Patron has his own private locker room (trailer) while all the other male talents have to share one locker room. Patron’s deal with the company calls for him to have his own private locker room when they are at the tapings.

Speaking of Patron, he left Ottawa this morning and will not be at the final television tapings tonight. Also, his Bound for Glory promo was cut from the UK airing of the show.

According to PWInsider, the company pitched the idea of doing a pre-tape segment with Grado at the Bound for Glory event for Santino Marella’s debut with the company. It’s being said that Santino actually declined the segment so instead they did a cameo where he just sat at ringside in the first row.

In regards to Santino actually wrestling a match, it seems highly unlikely as he’s retired from professional wrestling due to a neck injury. While not confirmed, it’s possible that he just portrays an on-air character if the company decides to use him in the future.
