Edge and Christian open today’s show speaking about the announcement of the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble match. Christian thinks that this is another great step in the right direction for women’s professional wrestling, and Edge completely agrees. Edge thinks that it’s only a matter of time before the Women main event WrestleMania, and that historic match might even piggyback off of this Rumble match.

Edge welcomes his wife, Beth Phoenix to the show to discuss this huge announcement. Phoenix says that hearing this announcement was one of the proudest moments in her professional life. During her time in WWE, all the women felt like they could sell tickets like the men but they weren’t presented in a situation to do so. She’s happy for this generation of women’s wrestlers who finally have that opportunity.

Phoenix informs that her phone has been blowing up since this announcement with questions regarding her potential return for this Rumble. She mentions that it’s a great feeling to receive those messages and questions, and this just proves that there’s a bunch of buzz surrounding this match.

There is a rumor floating around that Jim Johnston, who has worked on WWE theme music dating back to 1985, has been released from the company. The news was first reported by ThemeTitan, which is a Twitter account dedicated to news about Johnston and WWE music.

As of this writing, there has been no official announcement on his release. We have reached out to WWE for comment and we will keep you updated if we hear anything.

For those not aware, Johnston produced themes for The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Ultimate Warrior, D-Generation X, Vince McMahon, Chris Jericho, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Brock Lesnar, and many others. Johnston also worked on pay-per-view themes, music that accompanied recaps or feuds, tributes, etc.

The arrival of CFO$ took away Johnston’s primary job as they were assigned the task of producing new songs for new WWE Superstars. CFO$ are behind the popular themes of Superstars like Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sasha Banks, Samoa Joe, and others.

Cody Rhodes indicated on Twitter that The Bullet Club is in Atlanta tonight, which is the same city that RAW takes place. Rhodes posted the photos of the group in front of a Cracker Barrel with the captions “Atlanta” and “Family lunch,” as you can see below.

As many are aware, the last time the Bullet Club was in the same city as RAW, they “invaded” in a move reminiscent of D-Generation X’s WCW invasion. The move got the group a lot of attention, though it also resulted in the Young Bucks receiving a cease-and-desist over the use of the “Too Sweet” hand gesture and got Jimmy Jacobs fired from the writing team.

WWE Superstar Sami Zayn recently did an interview with Joe.co.uk where he talked about different pro wrestling topics. Here are the excerpts from the interview:

On the change between wrestlers of this generation and thoughts about the WWE wellness policy:

“It’s not just the wrestling industry that has changed, the world has changed. Unfortunately a lot of that generation paid a very heavy price for it. And it would be very silly for our generation to not learn from their mistakes. Not to mention the WWE wellness policy as well, which I think is a great thing, honestly. It sort of keeps people in check! But at the end of the day I think matches are at a higher level than ever, the quality of talent we have now has never been better, and the work rate has never been higher.”

Current status of his El Generico gimmick:

“There a lot of parallels between my style and his, I suppose, but I never actually met the man. But from what I hear I think he’s still running an orphanage, still fighting the good fight in Mexico. That’s as far as I know.”
