Following the DX segment on tonight’s 25th Anniversary show at The Manhattan Center, Ric Flair came out as a surprise.

Flair said that he was here for the first three RAW shows before making the mistake of going back to WCW. Flair said he was lucky to come back and to be here with his friends. He said he got the best sendoff of any athlete ever thanks to Shawn Michaels. Flair said he was lucky to be here and said all that matters is being with people who love and respect you. Flair put over Michaels, Road Dogg, Scott Hall and Triple H.

This segment went over well with the fans in attendance.

Today’s episode of Dinner With the King was recorded live at Lawler’s BBQ restaurant, featuring Lawler’s co-host Glenn Moore and a group of fans.

The show opens with Moore asking Lawler about his history with Ric Flair. Lawler informs that he didn’t work a lot of matches with Flair because Flair was always a travelling Champion, and Lawler was based in Memphis because he owned the promotion there. The only times he worked with Flair was when Flair came through his promotion.

Lawler points out that Ric Flair didn’t have a gimmick. What you see is what you get with Flair, 365 days of the year. Moore asks Lawler if Flair was hard to work with back in those days, but Lawler can’t recall him being stubborn or hard to deal with. He informs that they rarely interacted with each other prior to their matches. They’d work their matches on the fly in the ring, and as soon as the match was over Flair would leave the building.

Lawler recalls a huge compliment Flair gave him years ago. It occurred in their hotel room after the infamous “Plane Ride From Hell”, as all the wrestlers and flight attendants were continuing their drinking there. One of the flight attendants were sitting on Lawler’s lap as Flair passed by him and saw. Flair turned around and said, “When it comes to women, King is my hero!” That was big praise coming from the man who apparently slept with 10,000 women.

In an interview with NewsHub, New Zealand, WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion, Charlotte Flair talks about a number of wrestling related topics. Here are a few highlights from the interview:

Charlotte revealed that being a professional wrestler felt “natural” and that she immediately realised her dream of making a name for herself in the business. However, the “catalyst” in all of this was the death of her brother, Reid Flair.

Flair went on to talk about her bond and relationship with her fellow “Four Horsewomen”:

“I feel that the four of us will always have a special bond from coming up together through NXT, having created so many firsts together. When the four of us were in NXT together we were fighting tooth and nail to make a big difference – to have women mean something in wrestling. Sasha and Bayley stealing the show at the first ever NXT event in Brooklyn. It was amazing. Together we have had all these amazing moments, and I know personally for me those three women are who I looked up to when I started because I wanted to be as good at this as them. The four of us will always share those moments we had.”

Flair also revealed her thoughts on the possibility of going up against former UFC Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania, saying that it would be a special Mania Moment. However, Flair has another very special moment that she would like to create at the Shows of Shows with someone very close to her…

“Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey will create a special Wrestlemania moment, but in saying that another great moment would be my best friend Becky Lynch winning the Royal Rumble and facing me for the title – so many possibilities. I just hope that whoever wins has to face me for the Smackdown Women’s championship at Wrestlemania.”

Finally, Flair ended the interview by making a bold statement regarding the Women’s Revolution:

“With the announcement of the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match, I feel the women’s revolution is complete.”

ESPN Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell announced on Twitter that one of Ric Flair’s robe sold for a ridiculous amount of money on Friday night during an auction.

According to Rovell, the autographed robe went for $27,000 through Goldin Auctions.

Edge and Christian welcome Dolph Ziggler to the show.

Ziggler talks about receiving a Spinebuster from Arn Anderson at WWE’s recent Starrcade event. He says that he was told weeks in advance that he’d be working with Bobby Roode at that event, but he didn’t get his hopes up because he assumed those plans would change as the event drew nearer. Luckily, those plans stuck and he and Roode were given enough time to tear the house down.

He cut a promo with Ric Flair earlier in the night which was a really cool moment for him, but Arn Anderson’s involvement in their match made the night extremely memorable. Anderson was the special guest enforcer for the match and at the end of the bout he delivered a classic Spinebuster to Ziggler, which was a moment he’ll never forget.

He jokes that he’s a bitter old man at this point and there isn’t much within the wrestling business that gets him excited anymore, but that night was filled with one memorable moment after another. There was a special feeling in the air the entire day, with legends like The Rock N Roll Express, Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair all walking around the backstage area prior to the event.

According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Flair is currently asking $15,000 for two hours of autograph signings. Anything over three hours is $20,000.

“Ric Flair is now taking limited bookings. Currently his asking price is $15,000 for two hours of signing or $20,000 for three hours,” Meltzer wrote in this week’s Observer Newsletter.

Charlotte Flair has penned a letter to her father on the Players Tribune. Here is an excerpt:

“Dear Dad,

It’s that moment when you appear from behind the curtain.

Every single night, before I perform, I think about what you told me. That the single most important part of any match is when you walk out onto the stage — and the crowd sees you for the first time.

“Whether it’s 50 people in an auditorium or 100,000 in a stadium,” you said. “The instant they see you, they can tell right away whether or not you really believe in yourself.”

I remember my first match, standing in the dark, listening to my heart racing. I knew the crowd was just waiting — not waiting for me, but waiting to judge the next person they saw emerge onto the stage. I knew my peers were watching on the monitor just a few feet away. I felt the walls closing in. I could barely breathe. It was like I had forgotten everything I had learned about wrestling up to that point.

People were going to think I was a fraud — that I was just trying to piggyback a career off of your name. I wasn’t Charlotte Flair yet. I was still just Ric Flair’s daughter. I feared the worst.

I mean, how could I really be prepared? How could anyone live up to the legacy of Ric Flair? The Nature Boy! The limousine-ridin’, jet-flyin’, etc. etc. — Ric Flair! One of the most decorated superstars in the history of sports entertainment. It was an impossible expectation to live up to.

In that moment, I actually feared that I wasn’t made for WWE. Quitting wasn’t an option … but how was I going to commit 100 percent when I was afraid of my own shadow?

I was nervous about the fans in the crowd. I was nervous about the Superstars in the back. But most of all, I was nervous about one very specific thought.

I couldn’t bear the thought of disappointing you.”
