Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap w/ Kristian Harloff – Writing for WWE, Relationship with Roddy Piper, WWE Limiting Their Talents, More!

Russo welcomes former WWE writer Kristian Harloff to the show.

Harloff says that he was always a huge wrestling fan, and his favourite performer was ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage. He moved to Los Angeles to become a writer and a stand up comedian, and he met Paul Heyman through a WWE event one evening. He asked Heyman how to get a chance to write for WWE and Heyman told him to write a letter. He told Heyman he already did that, so Heyman told him to write another one.

He wrote the company again, this time including his take on an in-depth ‘Invasion’ angle. This caught the attention of Stephanie McMahon and she flew him into Stanford for an interview.

Russo asks Harloff why he’d want to make the jump from being a stand-up comedian to writing professional wrestling. He says that he always wanted to work for WWE and he had to take the chance. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving in WWE he realized that it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows behind the curtains.

Harloff informs that he got on management’s radar quick, but not in a positive way. During his first pre-show production meeting which was led by Vince McMahon, Harloff raised his hand to ask questions on multiple occasions. Coach came up to him after that and told him to settle down a little bit, because you don’t want to be ‘that’ guy.

Matt Hardy Responds to a Critic Saying He Betrayed TNA

The fight for the BROKEN Gimmick is still on between Anthem and The Hardys. Recently, after a lot of heated public discussions over the issue, Matt Hardy was accused by a Fan of “Betraying TNA”.

The Taz Show Recap – NXT Analysis, Kurt Angle Documentary, Where Does Strowman Go From Here? More!

Blocks 1 & 2:

Taz opens today’s show by speaking about the second of four straight press conferences, promoting the upcoming boxing match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. He calls these press conferences riveting entertainment, but if they continue to do the exact same thing it’s going to get old rather quickly. He believes that these two are going to have to get physical at the last press conference, just to give the fans something to hold onto as they build towards the fight in August.

A listener calls into the show and says that he wishes WWE would just turn Roman Reigns heel, and he believes that even Reigns wants to turn heel at this point. Taz agrees with the caller, and says that for the longest time he thought Reigns was determined to get over as a babyface, but as of late it sure seems like Reigns has embraced the heel overtones of his character.

Taz wonders if we’ve seen the last of Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns, because if WWE wanted to keep Strowman off television for a while they wouldn’t have shown him walking out of ambulance at Great Balls of Fire. The caller says that he has heard rumours that WWE if preparing for a Fatal 4-way match at SummerSlam for Universal Title between Strowman, Reigns, Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar. Taz says he’ll be surprised if that happens.

Taz expects we’ll see Strowman back on RAW by next Monday, and then we should get some answers as to where WWE is heading with him creatively moving forward.

Matt Hardy Threatens Anthem Sports — “Things Will Get Nasty”

Matt Hardy took to Twitter to respond to a fan question about the legal situation between The Hardy Boyz and Anthem Sports. This time around Hardy threatened to expose the company and mentioned that things would “get nasty” if they don’t wrap up the deal.

For those not following the story, The Hardy Boyz have been trying to work out a deal with Anthem Sports so that they can bring their “BROKEN” gimmick to WWE. Things between the two haven’t been exactly smooth between everyone involved.

Becky Lynch Has Words for UFC Fighter Cris Cyborg

As previously noted, Triple H sent out an invitation to Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor to add RAW to their promotional tour dates ahead of their boxing match on August 26.

Apparently fellow UFC Fighter Cris Cyborg wants in on that action as well and sent a tweet to Triple H telling him not to let Becky Lynch near her. She also commented on how Ireland can’t handle another star losing this summer.

Becky Lynch wasn’t going to let Cyborg’s remarks slide and mentioned how Cyborg needs to be sure Dana White would let her.

The Taz Show Recap – RAW Analysis, Universal Title Segment Steals the Show, Are The Hardys About to Break? More!

Block 1:

Taz says he really enjoyed one segment from last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW in particular, and that was the segment featuring Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe. He says that this felt very real, and there was some extreme intensity between Joe and Lesnar in particular. Taz could tell that these guys were simply working from bullet points, and that made their promos feel more believable.

Taz thinks that this segment had Paul Heyman’s fingerprints all over it, and he thought all parties involved did a very good job. In addition, after almost getting the best of Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire, Taz is glad that WWE didn’t just take Joe out of the main event picture right away without any explanation. Taz doesn’t think that Joe will defeat Reigns next week, but it’s good that he’s still involved in the Title picture.

Taz liked the majority of Big Cass’ promo which opened RAW last night. He says that at certain points in the promo Cass looked lost, but that’s going to happen when a lot of these younger talents are learning on the fly. We’ll probably see more and more of this as performers are basically starting their careers in WWE now, instead of honing their craft in the territories like they did years ago.

Overall, he thought that Cass spoke a lot of truth in his promo. Cass said that he’s going to be a star in WWE and will eventually be WWE Champion. Taz says he believes every word of that, and it’s only a matter of time before Cass skyrockets up the card, because it’s evident that WWE is firmly behind pushing him right now.
