Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger recently did an interview with FloSlam where he discussed a number of topics, such as the support from fans, leaving WWE and more. Check out the highlights below:

On support from fans and coworkers, and starting over from scratch:

“I mean, in essence it’s almost like starting all over again,” Swagger said. “To get back your momentum, you have to reach all fans bases and it really did feel like starting again from scratch. But as of now, everything has been exactly what I had expected. A majority of the fans are glad to see me and I have been getting good receptions which I am happy with and it hasn’t deflated my ego.

“The hospitality I have received from every single roster I have been a part of has been amazing. This is a brand new side of things that I am learning and I am having to learn on my feet and it’s awesome. So many of the guys and girls have been so helpful at letting me pick their brains and every show has been so different.”

Jack reveals that the first person he reached out to was Matt Hardy:

“I have been fortunate to work with so many great guys and lot of them have come and gone,” Swagger said. “The first guy that I reached out to was Matt Hardy because I started at WWE with him and we had some great storylines including the ECW one. We became great friends. I also called Konnan and Rey Mysterio who were beyond helpful to me.”

On how it is to work outside of the WWE:

“Being able to work with my wife is one of the main pros and one of the factors why I wanted to leave. It can be a very lonely business at times so it’s nice to be able to be with her and travel with her and also she is one hot momma.

I also like working the smaller shows because they are much more intimate and intense and you can feel that. Everyone is on top of each other and that’s awesome. You can interact with the same so much easier and do stuff right in front of their faces and I enjoy that side of it. I also like the challenge of learning the style of wrestling for these shows and being able to make it my own. I think the only downside to being an independent wrestler that I have noticed so far is making sure you stay healthy. Like I am out there Friday to Sunday and you have to go out there and put on a hell of a match each and every time.

It is definitely a great bonus to be home more and was a big reason to consider when I left,” he said. “On the flip side, now that you are home more you still have to make a living. But my son just turned six and is real big into Disney and we were lucky enough to go there last week. He is big on the entertainment side of things and he can cut promo’s and knows how to stand and all that stuff. My daughter is two and a half and she is just super freakishly strong. Both of them are great swimmers so I love taking them swimming.”

Jack has some advice to others who are looking to work outside the WWE:

“You just have to remember that when you are with the WWE, it is a corporate job so you have certain benefits you need to get in line before you lose them. It’s real important to get stuff like your mortgage and insurance in check before you decide to leave. Stuff like that becomes very difficult when you become an independent star.”

Welcome to our coverage of WWE TLC 2017, a PPV that is sure to be as chaotic as it is surprising.

What a week it has been in WWE. A bout of viral meningitis made its way through the Raw locker room, and as such, Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns have been pulled from tonight’s PPV. That means two of the nights biggest matches are without their stars, however WWE quickly changed the line-up and got fans hella excited for what’s coming tonight.

First off, Bray Wyatt was pulled from the match against Finn Balor where he was to debut the Sister Abigail. Seeing as this was the third meeting between Balor and Wyatt, fans weren’t too upset when they heard that Bray was being replaced by none other than the face that runs the place, the man who built SmackDown Live, AJ Styles! This is something of a dream match for fans and it has the potential to be a match of the year candidate.

Roman Reigns was also pulled from tonight’s card, meaning the long-awaited Shield reunion is not going to happen tonight. This is genuinely very disappointing after the weeks of build and anticipation – probably the first time fans have ever been disappointed to hear Reigns is not on a show. WWE quickly announced that Reigns was to be replaced in the match and his replacement would be….Kurt Angle. OK, so first reaction is a heart-attack level of excitement, but once that wears off I think this is a terrible choice. Angle is a Hall of Famer, a legend, whose return to the ring should have been the result of a huge storyline that led to WrestleMania or a similarly big PPV. He shouldn’t have been thrown into a match simply because fans would be disappointed without the Shield reunion, WWE could have given this spot to Matt Hardy, an NXT guy like Aleister Black, or even throw cash at someone like Rob Van Dam to come back for one night and put on a show-stealer. Maybe I’m wrong but let me know what you guys think!

Aside from all of that madness, the rest of the TLC card is undisturbed, meaning we will still see Emma Vs. Asuka, Kalisto Vs. Enzo Amore, Alexa Bliss Vs. Mickie James, and a handful of kick-off segments. Honestly, aside from the two huge matches I talked about above, this card is fairly lacklustre, and it would have been even more-so if it didn’t suddenly feature AJ Styles. Apparently there was some sort of technical difficulties at Tuesday’s SmackDown Live taping in Seattle, Washington at the Key Arena.

Bryan Alvarez, who was live in attendance, mentioned on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live that Daniel Bryan’s backstage segment with Kevin Owens and Sami Sayn didn’t show up on the tron to the audience in attendance. When Bryan announced that Shane McMahon would be returning to SmackDown Live next week, the fans were told to standby and replays where showing instead. Alvarez said there was some sort of timing issue and that’s the reason the fans didn’t see the announcement.

Jim Cornette issued the following response to FightNetwork.com regarding Santino Marella’s remarks he made about the incident that took place over the weekended between the two.

“I was on my way to the food court. Marella approached me with his hand outstretched. I shook it and told him with no profanity and not yelling–the first time–that we had nothing to talk about and tried to walk away. He kept detaining me to plead the case of why an incident 12 years ago was not his fault. I told him, in ever-increasing detail, that we had nothing to talk about and why and tried again to walk off. He obviously expected me to say something different to his face than I have in public, and I did not, whereupon he then wouldn’t let me past and tried to wind me up to hit him in public and potentially get arrested. Regardless of who threw the first blow, I figured most people would believe it was me, so I called attention to the troublemaker. The worst part happened at that point, where with all the fans yelling and security swarming, I was unable to get my club sandwich.

If anyone wonders why Santino Marella and I will never be on the same page, I refer you to his own words in the statement he made. The fact that at a live wrestling television taping in front of 500 fans–for which I was not just the announcer but part owner of the company–that Marella, a wrestling school student of two weeks, would see one of the featured heels of the program heading toward him and his first thought was that his intent was to scare Marella’s daughter so everyone would laugh and have a good time, tells you all you need to know about this guy not understanding the world he was in and his place in it, a state which continues today. Also, he uses the word ‘Gosh’ in an official statement, so a special level of Hell should be reserved for him where he has to watch an endless loop of his comedy matches which were an embarassment to my profession.”

As seen on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, Jinder Mahal cut a promo that mocked Shinsuke Nakamura for being Japanese. At one point in the promo, Mahal said “you always rook the same.” Fans in attendance responded with “that’s too far” chant.

WWE has issued the following statement via WashingtonPost.com regarding the promo:

Add former ECW Superstar Shane Douglas to the list of talents that aren’t down with Sasha Banks complaining about fans asking for autographs and photos. While appearing on the The Triple Threat podcast, Shane Douglas ripped Sasha Banks for saying she thinks fans who show up hours beforehand at airports and motels to see the wrestlers is “stalking” behavior.

“It’s ridiculous. There is a real simple fix here and I mean an incredibly simple fix. If you don’t like being and I’m using my fingers to make quotation marks “stalked” by the fans, quit. Go be a waitress, go be a teacher, go be an attorney, go be a business owner and go do whatever it is you want to do out of the limelight if that has become such a heavy burden for you. When you come into this business you have to know up front that as you are coming in all you can hope for is to have any kind of a career. When you get blessed to have a really good career and be on the top of that industry than shut the f*ck up and ride the ride. Take the bullsh*t with you because yes, there is a lot of bullsh*t to take with you I agree but if you don’t like that the fix is so simple and that is just quit and walk away. I don’t see her lining up to do that.”

“It appalls me because with the fans and let’s be clear. Without the fans none of us are anything. We are nothing without the fans and if the fans don’t tune into want to see Sasha Banks or Shane Douglas or fill in the blank than pretty likely the promoter and in her case Vince McMahon can say that the fans don’t give a sh*t about her and I should send her back down to the minor leagues or get rid of her. I’d also remind her that if she hasn’t learned the history of the business she’s in or the company that she is in that “Divas” that are there are a dime a dozen and a flavor of the week. Unlike an Undertaker who had 25 victories in a row at WrestleMania, which is an incredible feat even me talking as a worker and to name a women’s wrestler that has come close to matching that doesn’t happen. Sit back and enjoy the ride, Sasha. Be thankful that those fans give a sh*t to want to sit there and wait for you and “stalk” you because they are the ones that are paying your salary and without them Vince McMahon wouldn’t be handing you that check or without them Vince McMahon wouldn’t even have you in that spot and without them you wouldn’t be on the show that you are on that has caused you so much duress. If you don’t like it, again the fix is so simple, just call Mr. McMahon up and say thank you for everything but I am quitting. Problem solved. Let’s see if she takes that avenue.”

Outside of the Barclays Center prior to last Sunday’s SummerSlam, Sports Illustrated asked fans why they hate Roman Reigns.

Fans complained about Reigns being “shoved down their throats” and being “boring.” Others couldn’t really come up with a real answer, saying they “just don’t like that dude” or he’s not their “cup of tea.”

Following the beach ball incidents at SummerSlam, RAW and SmackDown this past week, WWE is now banning them from being brought to WWE events.

Fans that were caught with beach balls at Tuesday’s SmackDown Live and were told to get rid of them or risk being tossed from the arena. Some fans were actually escorted out of RAW Monday night over the ordeal.

Security was on alert during Smackdown and they were told by WWE not to allow any pool-related items, including beach balls that could distract from what was going on in the ring. Some fans were still able to sneak a few balls in Tuesday night however security was there to take them away.
