Vince McMahon is “pulling out all the stops” for the new Facebook Watch show, WWE Mixed Match Challenge.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, McMahon wants to impress Facebook’s top executives and get attention of other streaming services so that WWE can have more doors open to them in 2019 when their TV contract with NBC Universal expires.

Mixed Match Challenge is not expected to tie into on-going storylines on RAW or SmackDown.

Nix Jax and Enzo Amore are expected to team up on the show and it’s very possible that other real-life couples such as Jimmy Uso & Noami and Lana & Rusev team up on the show.

Facebook will be paying WWE for the distribution rights to the show, which will have a 12 week run. WWE wants to see how the revenue pans out for this show.

As previously reported, The Shield is expected to reunite and then square off against Cesaro, Sheamus and The Miz at the upcoming TLC event. Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that it’s very unlikely WWE would put the group back together to suffer a loss, so expect them to go over at the event.

PWInsider reports that both Primo Colon and Darren Young have been cleared to return to action. Primo was out rehabbing an injury while Darren was rehabbing his elbow surgery.

Primo is expected to return to the road as soon as possible, however there is no indication on when Darren is expected to return. We will keep you updated if we hear anything regarding either of their returns.

Pro Wrestling Sheet’s James McKenna revealed on Twitter that Scott Dawson is only expected to be out of action for four months. Dawson’s surgery apparently went well and he is expected back sometime in December.

As previously noted, Dawson suffered a bicep injury during the WWE Live Event in Halifax. The original prognostics were for Dawson to be out of action for six months. Thankfully that’s no longer the case.

The Revival were scheduled to work a program against The Hardy Boyz and The Club but those plans were changed. It’s too early to determine where they will be placed when they return.

If WWE decides to book Reigns against Lesnar at SummerSlam, it’s expected that Roman will carry the championship all the way until WrestleMania 34, where he would then defend it against the “free agent” John Cena. WWE has already locked in a number of talents for the tournament. There is expected to be around 32-women total. The WWE Network will feature a preview special for the tournament on August 20th. The first round of the tournament will be released on VOD the following week. The second round of the tournament will release the week after that, which is the first week of September. The finals of the live special are expected to air on Tuesday September 12th. SmackDown runs that night in Las Vegas and it’s being speculated that they could hold the finals there, instead of Orlando. ]]>
