Daniel Bryan Update

Despite WWE refusing to allow him to return to in-ring action for them while he is still under contract, Daniel Bryan has no plans on giving up his dream of returning to the ring. During a recent interview, Bryan said that he’s going through the process of trying to get medically cleared to return to action pretty much every day.

“I’m trying to get cleared as we speak. All my tests have come back fantastic, better than people who have never had any concussion-type stuff. But it’s a weird thing. We’re in a weird situation politically with the climate around concussions; right now, it’s very difficult. WWE would love to have me back, but is that the smart thing for me as a business to bring me back? If I was to come back, and they let me back, would they get a lot of flak for it? They have a ton of stockholders that they’re responsible for. It’s more than just, ‘Is he healthy to do it?’

“There’s more than that to the whole situation. All the concussion doctors think that I’m healthy enough to do it, and that I should be able to do it — well, I don’t want to say all of them, I’m sure there’s somebody out there who doesn’t think that — but there’s a lot more than goes into it than just that. That’s the unfortunate situation with giant corporations and big business in the United States.”

Hulk Hogan-WWE Update

Hulk Hogan has been persona non grate in WWE for several years now, but according to recent reports, the company has been talking about bringing him back. Of course, any return would be dependent on WWE’s sponsors, advertisers, and stockholders being ok with him returning, and WWE would have to be prepared to handle the certain media backlash and rehashing of all of Hogan’s past indiscretions if he was to return.

Emma Update

Emma is gone from WWE, but Tenille Dashwood (Emma’s real name) is already putting out feelers about returning to the ring. She’s under a 90-day no compete until the end of January of 2018, but after that, she should be able to appear wherever she wants.

She was talking with Stardom, but reportedly, those talks fell apart when her asking fee of $2,000.00 plus first class flights and full creative control didn’t sit well with the promotion. They apparently felt that it would not be the best economic investment for them at this time.

Taz opens today’s show speaking about the release of Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae from WWE. Throughout his lengthy wrestling career Taz encountered some people who weren’t fond of him, and there were other individuals who Taz wasn’t a fan of. In spite of all of that, he never enjoyed seeing those people get released and lose their jobs. It’s never a good day when someone loses their employment.

He assumes that these releases were made in an effort to cut costs as he has heard that WWE plans to cut even more costs as we head into 2018. In spite of what some might think WWE doesn’t have an endless budget, and these releases were probably necessary in order to maintain their talent budget.

He points out that Darren Young and Summer Rae have been off of WWE programming for several months now but Emma has been highlighted in major storylines and just wrestled Asuka on TLC. Emma’s release really surprised Taz because WWE has been semi-pushing Emma and even gave her plenty of offence in her loss to Asuka at TLC.

As noted earlier today, NXT newcomer Lio Rush took to Twitter to crack a joke about Emma being released from the WWE. This didn’t sit well with many within the industry and Rush issued a statement claiming that his tweet was “blown out of proportion.”

Jack Gallagher took to his Twitter account and ripped Rush’s apology and suggested that he take English classes while he’s at the WWE Performance Center.

As noted earlier today, NXT newcomer Lio Rush took to Twitter to crack a joke about Emma being released from the WWE. This didn’t sit well with other and Rush issued a statement claiming that his tweet was “blown out of proportion.” You can see the statement below:

“At the end of the day, there’s o certain level of respect within professional wrestlers in the sports & ENTERTAINMENT industry that is noted within peers. With that being said, Emma I respect you and everything that you’ve done for our business. It saddens me that the controversial tweet “got completely blown out of proportion and looked at in a very insensitive way. As a family man with a 4 year of son and expecting on other, I would never laugh or mock the fact of someone loosing there job because of how it can affect self person and there families. NXT newcomer Lio Rush (M.O.T.H) received some backlash on social media today when he decided to crack a joke about Emma being released from WWE. This didn’t sit well with many within the industry and tons of fans on Twitter.

We noted earlier how Peyton Royce called him out for his remarks he made and now Sean Waltman along with Taz had some words for him as well. You can see their comments below:

It was reported earlier today that WWE has decided to come to terms with Emma. No reason was given regarding her release and it has left many confused as it was just days ago she was on RAW in a match against Asuka.

WWE has announced that they have released Emma from the company. Here is the announcement:

“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Emma. WWE wishes Emma the best in all of her future endeavors.”

Emma last appeared for the company on this past Monday’s episode of RAW, where she lost to Asuka. As of this writing, there is no exact reason given for her release. We will keep you updated once we receive more information.

I guess this really isn’t much of a surprise given how vocal Emma has been in recent months on social media about her standing with the company. But, with the issues with Neville and Nia Jax, I expected to see announcements about them being released sooner than Emma. And, it’s a big odd that they do this on a Sunday, but it appears both sides have come to terms with her leaving.

Emma signed with WWE in 2011, and she debuted in FCW in June 2012 after undergoing shoulder surgery. When FCW rebranded into NXT, Emma was one of the brand’s top females and one of its most popular stars. But, she would never hold the NXT Women’s Title.

She was called up to the main roster of WWE in January 2014 and paired with Santino Marella in somewhat of a comedy duo. They would feud with Summer Rae and Fandango until July when Marella announced his retirement from the ring.

Emma returned to NXT in 2015, turned heel, and really seemed to come into her own. The heel persona seemed to suit her much better, and she became a better all-around performer. She returned to the main roster in 2016, but was soon sidelined by a back injury that would keep her out for most of the year. In October, WWE began to air vignettes, touting her return as the repackaged Emmalina. That flopped big time.

After her return, Emma never seemed to find her place on the main roster. She used social media as a platform to express her displeasure with her status in the promotion. Her last appearance with the promotion was on the October 23th edition of RAW where she lost to Asuka.

Emma should have no problem returning to the indie circuit (if she chooses) and have some amazing matches with some incredible women all over the globe. And, she’ll definitely be better utilized outside of WWE.

Emma, who is scheduled to take part in the Fatal 5-Way for the RAW Women’s Champion at Sunday’s WWE Np Mercy event, was noticeably absent from Monday’s episode of RAW.

The reason Emma did not appear on the show is because she stayed a few extra days in Australia to visit with family after the RAW events there over the weekend.

Sasha Banks may be a four-time Women’s Champion, but she has never ever had a successful title defense. If you were to count the total number of days she’s been champion, you’d have less than 80 days. That may seem like a lot, but that’s spread out across four reigns. To put things into perspective, Dean Ambrose was WWE Champion for 84 days, and Jinder Mahal for 97 days (and counting). Meanwhile, both Alexa Bliss and Charlotte have both held the title for more than 100 days (113 for Charlotte, 112 for Bliss).

If WWE wants to capitalize on the Boss’s momentum, then they must invest in her as a champion. Make her seem like a capable wrestler. Let her actually defend the title a few times. In fact, she can defend it against these people.

Emma

Right now, Emma’s in a sort-of story where she complains about not being featured on the show. While it’s hardly the most exciting thing, it’s something. I think it wouldn’t be illogical for Emma to somehow find herself in title contention. Just have her whine and complain before Sasha demands she shut up. Or have her challenge Banks. Either way works.

Emma, along with Summer Rae, came from a weird spot. They most certainly were different from the divas. They also weren’t a big part of the whole “Women’s Revolution”, but they certainly inspired it. As a result, they’ve often been overlooked. It’s a shame, because Emma is actually a really good wrestler.

The last time Sasha and Emma faced off in singles action was in NXT in 2014. They’ve both improved since then. Let the showcase their skills by fighting over the Women’s Championship. It won’t be bad.

If nothing else, it would be a good time-killer for a one and done feud. It adds 28 days to Sasha’s reign. It’s most definitely an option.
