Bobby Roode vanquished Jinder Mahal in the finals of the United States Championship tournament. He outlasted seven other men to walk away victorious. It’s a brave new world for Roode.

Who will be next to face the Glorious One? Who will step to him and demand a shot at the star-spangled gold? Here are some bold predictions.

Dolph Ziggler

We’ve still not seen good ol’ Dolph Ziggler rear his head after seemingly vacating the US Championship. In fact, even commentary doesn’t mention him too much. They’ll just say the title is vacant and there’s a tournament for it. It’s kind of funny.

I don’t really think that Ziggles is coming back for the US Championship. I don’t even know if he’s coming back at all. Should he do that, then I think he and Bobby Roode could have some good matches. Their 2/3 Falls match last year was actually pretty good. If their matches are like that, then it should be fine.

I think that maybe Roode should retain against Dolph Ziggler should he return. Having Dolph win would be interesting, but the Glorious One is on the rise and the title is what he needs right now to cement his spot.

Ahead of his match against Bobby Roode at tonight’s WWE Hell in a Cell event, Dolph Ziggler continued to refer to Roode as a “rookie”. Ziggler says he’s not going to prove himself tonight because he’s done that for the last 12 years. Ziggler said that he’s going to win for himself tonight and do what he does best – be the best damn wrestler the company has ever seen.

It was previously reported that Kofi Kingston may have suffered an injury at Wednesday’s WWE Live Event in Honolulu, HI but it doesn’t appear to be anything serious.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reports that Kofi has been medically cleared to return to action at this weekend WWE Live Events.

Kofi appeared at Saturday’s WWE Live Event in Osaka, Japan and teamed with Big E to retain their tag team titles over Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin.

As many of you have seen recently. WWE is now doing picture-in-picture advertising on the SmackDown Live brand on Tuesday nights. This was apparently the USA Network’s idea as they plan on doing it for other shows. The idea is to keep the viewers from changing the channel during commercial breaks.

It’s worth pointing out that WWE is only doing the picture-in-picture advertising for the non-important matches and are still doing full-on commercials for their bigger matches. This past Tuesday on SmackDown they did normal commercial breaks for the AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler match and other popular matches.

WWE has plans to make the June 13th SmackDown Live episode in New Orleans a major show because of WrestleMania 34 taking place there.

Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal was announced but it’s likely that the match will be changed or made into a dark match since they are now scheduled for the Money in the Bank event. Two other matches planned for the event include Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler.

The hype behind the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view is thanks to one man, Shinsuke Nakamura. He arrived on the Smackdown Live brand two nights after Wrestlemania. He has been involved in promos and a lot of loud fan chants, but has yet to have a single match. That changes on Sunday when he takes on the Show-Off, Dolph Ziggler.

Now the potential behind this match is beyond belief. Ziggler is one of the best performers in the company regardless of his win-loss record. Putting a talent like him against someone as gifted as Nakamura is going to be magic. Most people are expecting Nakamura to win the bout, as they should. With the way Nakamura has been promoted, it wouldn’t make any sense for him to lose his very first match on the main roster to a mid-card heel who is floundering around.
