Taz opens today’s show speaking about the release of Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae from WWE. Throughout his lengthy wrestling career Taz encountered some people who weren’t fond of him, and there were other individuals who Taz wasn’t a fan of. In spite of all of that, he never enjoyed seeing those people get released and lose their jobs. It’s never a good day when someone loses their employment.

He assumes that these releases were made in an effort to cut costs as he has heard that WWE plans to cut even more costs as we head into 2018. In spite of what some might think WWE doesn’t have an endless budget, and these releases were probably necessary in order to maintain their talent budget.

He points out that Darren Young and Summer Rae have been off of WWE programming for several months now but Emma has been highlighted in major storylines and just wrestled Asuka on TLC. Emma’s release really surprised Taz because WWE has been semi-pushing Emma and even gave her plenty of offence in her loss to Asuka at TLC.

On the heels of the announcement about Emma being released, WWE has just announced that Darren Young and Summer Rae have also been released from the company.

Both Summer Rae and Darren Young have been out with injuries. Darren Young just recently returned to the road after elbow surgery, and Summer Rae hasn’t been seen on WWE television since July of 2016. It’s odd timing for Young, especially seeing as he was just part of WWE night at the LA Clippers game last night.

Young signed with WWE in 2009, spending his early time with the company in FCW and NXT. He debuted on the main roster in 2010 as part of The Nexus but returned to NXT when the faction fell apart. In 2012, he was paired with Titus O’Neil as The Prime Time Players. They would team on and off through 2016, even holding the WWE Tag Team Titles.

Young was paired with WWE Hall Of Famer Bob Backlund in 2016, but that gimmick was not well received by the fans. He suffered an elbow injury in August and had just returned to the road for the RAW brand a few weeks ago.

Summer Rae signed with WWE in 2011 and was a big part of FCW, acting as the developmental brand’s General Manager for a time. She wrestled in NXT before being paired up with Fandango and coming to the main roster as his “dance partner”.

She would float around a bit after the Fandango pairing ended, even working in an ill-fated feud with Lana, Rusev, and Dolph Ziggler. Her appearances on WWE television became fewer when she was part of The Marine 4: Moving Target. And, though she was drafted to RAW in July of 2016, she never appeared due to a back injury that kept her out of action until her release.

WWE announced earlier today that they have come to terms with Emma, but they apparently aren’t finished yet.

The company later edited their original announcement and announced the releases of Darren Young and Summer Rae as well.

“WWE has come to terms on the releases of WWE Superstars Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae. WWE wishes them the best in all of their future endeavors.”

Summer Rae hasn’t been used on WWE television in the longest time and Darren Young has been rehabbing an injury that he suffered on the company’s watch. We will keep you updated if we receive more details on their releases.

Darren Young is backstage for tonight’s RAW at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. This is the first time he’s been backstage since being cleared to return to action.

It’s unknown at this time if he will actually be used on tonight’s show, but you never know with WWE. If we hear anything, we will keep you posted.

It looks like Darren Young could be popping up on WWE television anytime now.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Young has been cleared to return to action. Young had his evaluation this week and passed as expected.

Young underwent the surgery back in February after he injured his elbow in a tag team match in January.

Young is able to return as early as next week, though there is no official word on when he’ll be back or if he’ll be paired with Bob Backlund. The only thing known is he will be a part of the RAW brand.

As Darren Young continues to train for his ring return, he noted on Twitter that Finn Balor introduced him to blood flow restriction therapy for rehabilitation.

Darren Young indicated on Instagram that he is closing to returning to the ring after undergoing elbow surgery back in February. He wrote the following:
