This week on Raw, Stephanie McMahon made yet another historic announcement concerning the women’s division, announcing that for the first time ever, there would be a women’s Elimination Chamber match at the upcoming pay-per-view of the same name. The match, like the women’s Rumble match, had been long rumoured online and the announcement won’t have come as a surprise to many people.

The women’s roster delivered a nostalgia-filled and hugely enjoyable Royal Rumble bout and the company will be very keen to capitalise on that momentum. The important thing for them heading into the Elimination Chamber is to get the right entrants and if they can do that, then the women could really deliver a classic chamber match. Let’s take a look at who should enter the first-ever women’s elimination chamber match.

Alexa Bliss

Let’s get this one out of the way. Bliss is the current women’s champion and therefore the first confirmed entrant into the match. Is there a chance she will lose the title before the event? It seems highly unlikely, and even if she did, she would definitely be in the match regardless.  The match will be used to set up Alexa’s bout at Mania, with either Asuka coming down after the match to confirm she is going to face her, or Alexa having an altercation with someone (Nia Jax, most likely) during the match that sets up a feud.

Bliss has been an excellent champion and is an integral part of the women’s roster, having her compete in this match gives her the chance to be a part of history as, obviously, she didn’t get a chance to partake in the first ever Rumble.

“Playboy, Leaked Photos, and Being Sexy”

I have never thought about not being me. I have never been afraid to show off my body. I have never been scared of being sexy. And I don’t want my son or daughter to be afraid of their body. I want my children to be confident. In a world so full of hate and unknown, Mike and I do not want our children to feel like love is a foreign concept. I have been asked on numerous occasions about Playboy, my leaked photos, and about being sexy. My answers may surprise you and hopefully give you some insight into what it means to me to be able to be sexy and still be a great mother.

What will you tell your child about being in Playboy? I will tell them that mommy bought a house by capitalizing on a huge opportunity. I will tell them that mommy believes that the human body should be celebrated not shammed. I will tell them that Playboy is an iconic magazine and the decision to pose was something I discussed with my family and friends before making a well informed choice. I don’t believe sex is the enemy I think ignorance is. If my children, are well informed about the meaning and value of a person’s virtue, I think that is the best a parent can do.

Leaked Photos…. So, I guess I probably should make a statement about this at some point. Haha… I guess first you should know, every photo that I have seen leaked was something for my husband of over three years, who I have been with for 6 and a half. They were sent to or taken by Mike. So, you aren’t seeing anything salacious or forbidden. You are seeing our personal photos. It doesn’t bother me that I’m naked. I have been naked. Boobs, butt, etc… everyone has them. If my children asks about those photos, I will say mommy and daddy have a healthy relationship. We love each other. Daddy thinks Mommy is sexy. AND, there is nothing wrong with that. The problem is the intrusion of privacy. The sad, sad humans that can not make a happy, healthy life of their own. I would tell my child to feel sorry for the people that do not have enough love of their own and have to steal it from others. Mommy and daddy, pity the people that have enough time on their hands to fish through our photos but no time to make a life of their own. To those people, I say get some help, try online dating, and stop breaking the law.

I’m too sexy for small mindedness. Sex. Woah. How could you? NO, I can and I will never be afraid of it. Being sexy doesn’t end for pregnant people, married people, curvy people, skinny people, any people… Sex is beautiful. It creates life and draws humans together. War, is ever present on TV, in movies, and on video games and no one blinks an eye but you see a little boob and OMG!! Mark 10:6-9 “But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.” One flesh sounds fun. If God wanted me to wear clothes, I would have been born with them. I wasn’t, so I’ll continue being sexy and enjoying my body. The body that was created by this universe.

Let’s talk about the things I am afraid of talking about with my child, war, sexual harassment, economic inequality, sexism, racism, homophobia, genocide, and the current political climate. There are much bigger problems in this world then, my sexuality. I have built my life around being a good person and being a good role model for my little sister when she was still little and now my nieces and nephew and soon for my child. In this country, we should focus less on the way people love and more on the way people hate. That is what I will teach my child. Hold hands not hate. Be the change you want to see in this world. Love Yourself. #PowerofLove

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.

On one of his radio shows last week Bryan Alvarez from Wrestling Observer was adamant in thinking that the current angle with Kenny Omega is going to make Chris Jericho a bigger star than anything he could have done in WWE. Jericho apparently said this himself as an explanation for why he did this match.

Russo points out that Jericho and Alvarez are right in this case because nobody is watching Monday Night RAW. In Russo’s opinion, this was Jericho’s way of saying “Nobody’s watching WWE” without getting in trouble with Vince McMahon and other WWE officials.

At another point this week Alvarez tweeted out that Sami Zayn is an incredible heel. Russo says that Alvarez clearly hasn’t seen a good heel before because Jake Roberts was an incredible heel. Contrarily, Zayn is a cab driver look-alike that comes off like Woody Allen. Russo says that Alvarez needs to get his head out of his ass.

Russo says that incredible heels should give kids nightmares and they should always be a credible threat to win matches. In Russo’s opinion, Zayn can’t accomplish either of those things right now.

Dolph Ziggler recently spoke with NBC Sports to promote tonight’s Tribute To The Troops show. Here are some highlights from the interview:

His gradual downward spiral in WWE: “It was very gradual. It went from ‘Wow, we have something special here with Dolph. The crowd is feeding off of him whether he’s a good guy or a bad guy.’ But after a while, a really good match here and there or a special moment here and there is not enough to create a star. So after a big match and then just going back to being Dolph, it’s hard to not be Dolph.

“I’ve been very lucky in that I’ve been able to make the most out of those situations. Anytime people see me or the character, you can kind of see how they mesh together and I’m pretty sure there’s nobody who blends that gray area with the character better than me. And that’s a fact.”

Things he is looking to explore with his meta-type character in WWE: “We’ve opened the fourth wall a lot with this business and we’ve let reality become a huge part of it, which is awesome. Being able to interact with fans every single day gives them the ability to know what’s going on behind the scenes a little bit and you can actually use that as part of your character.

“It would be stupid to let them in on all of these different aspects of the show and then pretend that I win every night because then we’re basically calling them stupid for believing that. But if I go ‘Hey I don’t win all of the time, but I’m really good and you know this and I know this’ and one of the nights could be the time that we go with it and that’s very realistic in this world. It’s one thing to joke around with fans, but to disregard huge aspects of a career would be a mistake.”

What he would like to change about his current character: “Yeah I’d be about three inches taller, so I could be a 10-time world champion (laughs). I’m a big 80s hair metal guy, like a David Lee Roth or someone like Nikki Sixx or Vince Neil to where I could put on a big show and be awesome at wrestling, but in this character right now where I focus on throwing that all away because I see the transparency in characters and my character hates on them.

“It’s a special place that I get to go and I walk to the ring with disdain for the fans knowing that they sit there and bury everything that we do, but then they cheer for who their supposed to because they’re such hypocrites it’s so great.”

Lawler is joined on today’s show by his co-host Glenn Moore.

Lawler mentions that the current Meningitis outbreak in WWE is very unfortunate. He assumes that someone picked up a bug during one of the recent overseas tours and now it has spread through the locker room. He mentions that none of the commentators have come down with the illness as of yet which is great, but Lawler was still wondering if he’d get a call at the last minute to commentate on the TLC PPV or to work the kickoff show.

Speaking of Kurt Angle’s return to a WWE ring, Lawler thought Angle did a terrific job and commends him on jumping into that spot at the last minute in order to give the WWE Universe something special. Lawler recalls driving from an indie show with Angle roughly a year ago and Angle was expressing his desire to return to a WWE ring even then, so it was great to see him live out that dream Sunday night.

Lawler mentions that some people may have been critical of that main event and all the gimmicks and antics that it included, but he points out that WWE’s goal is always to send the fans home happy. After having to adjust the two big matches on the TLC card, WWE found a way to deliver and send their fans home happy.

The WWE network is something of a mixed bag. While there are a lot of terrible programs on there, the network has also allowed the WWE a chance to experiment with new divisions and give younger, fresher stars a chance to shine for the company.

One of the best things that the network has introduced over the last year is their network exclusive tournaments. The Cruiserweight classic was an absolute gem, and while the resulting 205 Live has gone down like a lead balloon, the initial tournament was something very special, and something they should definitely look at repeating.

The UK tournament, for the UK title, was a bonafide success, introducing the WWE to the likes of Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne, two stars who have gone on to give us arguably the best match of the year in WWE so far.

Finally, there is the Mae Young Classic, which debuted on the network two weeks ago, after Summerslam. The tournament has been a great showcase for women’s wrestling and has given us some future stars to look out for. The final, which is yet to air, is likely to be a great match as well, and will likely serve as a launching pad for both women’s careers and a likely NXT Women’s Championship reign.

The tournaments have been a huge success, and the company is likely to invest in more of them over the coming few years. With such a wealth of talent available from all around the world- now is the perfect time for them to scout out tomorrow’s superstars and give us some more excellent wrestling. Let’s take a look at four possible tournaments the WWE could hold over the next 12 months.

Tag Team Tournament

WWE’s tag team division is not in a good place at the moment. Despite the strength and depth of the current roster, there appears to be a serious lack of tag team talent on the rosters, with only about 4 teams being serious title contenders on each brand.

That problem is going to come to a breaking point soon, and with such an array of talent available from all corners of the globe, the company would be stupid not to at least consider bringing them in for a tournament.

Tag team tournaments have always proved fruitful in the WWE and dedicated a whole network special to one could prove to a massive hit.

As they have done with both the Mae Young Classic and the Cruiserweight Classic, the company could also reach out to some former tag teams to participate, helping to drive up interest from the WWE universe, and give us some familiar faces to root for.
