PROGRESS Is Doing NYC

Top UK indie wrestling promotion PROGRESS is crossing the pond this summer for it’s New York City debut. The promotion announced today via Twitter that they will be debuting at the Elmcor Centre in Queens on Saturday, August 12th at 8:00 pm.

The promotion will be teaming up once again with EVOLVE and WWN for the show, and from what we know now, it looks like WWN might be streaming the show live on their service. PROGRESS has already announced that the show will be available on their VOD service about a week after it happens.

There’s no full card for the show as of yet, but they have announced that PROGRESS Champion (and new WWE UK Champion) Pete Dunne will be on the card, as well as PROGRESS Tag Team Champions Tyler Bate and Trent Seven.

CMLL Fires Several Top Stars

Things aren’t looking good on the lucha libre front down in Mexico. CMLL released an official statement today announcing that they had fired top stars La Mascara, Maximo Sexy, and Bobby Villa. The firings stem from an incident this past weekend where Mascara and Maximo Sexy basically destroyed Ultimo Guerrero’s car in the Arena Mexico parking lot this past Friday evening. The reason for Villa’s firing was not given.

Both La Mascara and Maximo Sexy have family in AAA, CMLL’s top competitor, so the men could easily end up working there in the near future.

Ring Of Honor is taking their War Of The Worlds shows global. The promotion announced today that they will be embarking on a War Of The Worlds UK tour in conjunction with NJPW, RevPro, and CMLL. Stars from all four promotions will be involved in the tour this summer, according to the press release from the company.

Coming hot off the heels of the sold-out War of the Worlds 2017 Tour in North America, ROH is thrilled to announce, in conjunction with NJPW, CMLL and Revolution Pro Wrestling, the first-ever War of the Worlds UK Tour from August 18th , 2017 – August 20th, 2017! With stronger-than-ever partnerships, stars from the top professional wrestling organizations in the world will do battle over the course of three nights!

The tour comes in overwhelming response to not only the resoundingly successful ROH Reach for the Sky UK Tour, but also to the rapid sellouts of Ring of Honor, New Japan, CMLL, and Rev Pro events around the globe. ALSO, RPW (Rev Pro) will host their annual ‘Summer Sizzler’, which will serve as a special Kickoff Event on Thursday August 17 at York Hall in London! From there, the stars of ROH, CMLL, NJPW, and RPW will compete at York Hall on Friday August 18 and then head the Liverpool Olympia on Saturday August 19! The tour will wrap up on August 20th in at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange to mark ROH’s first ever event in Scotland!
