Russo is joined on today’s special Christmas edition of the show by his co-host Jeff Lane.

Lane mentions that he and his girlfriend decided not to get each other Christmas gifts this year. This was actually his girlfriend’s decision but he knows it was a risky proposition. If she would have gotten him a small gift anyways he may have found himself in a world of trouble. The same could be said if he would have gotten her a small gift, after she made it known to him that she didn’t want to exchange gifts. It really was a lose-lose situation.

Russo says he enjoys to wait until 3 days before Christmas to start his shopping. That’s all part of the Christmas experience in his opinion, mingling within the crowds and hunting for the specific gifts that he’s looking for.

Russo mentions that one of his sons did good with this year’s Christmas gifts, while the other son did not. One son did well by getting him a book and a DVD set that he was looking for for a long time. On the other hand, the other son failed miserably.

Welcome to the merriest episode of Monday Night Raw ever! And we hope you’re having a great Christmas!

Tonight’s festive Raw will feature the return of the 16-time WWE World Champion, John Cena. It’s unclear if Cena is back for an extended period of time, or if this is a simple one-off appearance, but either way it ill be fun to see Cena back in a Raw ring.

The Royal Rumble is less than a month away and last week we got the historic announcement that there would be a women’s Rumble match in 2018! Now that we’ve got the two matches set, it’s time to start getting entrants. Personally I think entering a Rumble should be earned and something fought for, not just assumed. Like qualifying matches etc., whereas there’s little build-up because we all know Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bray Wyatt will be there. Regardless, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cena announce his appearance in the upcoming Rumble match, which he’s currently a favourite to win.

Elsewhere on tonight’s Raw, The Bar battle Rollins and Ambrose for momentum, again, and Braun Strowman continues to butt-heads with Kane ahead of their huge match with Brock Lesnar. Stephanie McMahon took to her Twitter account and thanked author Tim Ferriss for allowing her to be a part of his inspirational book, Tribe of Mentors: Short Life Advice from the Best in the World. Stephanie attached a photo of herself with Rusev flexing behind her.

Former WWE Superstar Snitsky responded to the post by sending Stephanie a selfie of him looking jacked.

Snitsky then send out another tweet that read, “#peekaboo haha c what I did there lol” and wished Stephanie a Merry Christmas.

He then retweeted these comments from fans who want to see him return to WWE.

– Monday’s Christmas episode of RAW is expected to be a sell out or at least very close to as sell out in Chicago, IL.

– After Vince McMahon sold 3.34 million shares of his stock on Thursday to help fund his new XLF project, the price for WWE stock dropped to $29.55.

– Dave Meltzer pointed out on Wrestling Observer Radio that The USA Network has had a streak of being the #1 overall cable network in prime time for the past 12 years. This goes without saying that the network is not going to give up it’s right to have WWE programming easily when the contract between the two expire in 2019.

As previously reported, Cena took time off from WWE television after Survivor Series to work on his non-WWE commitments.

Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Pat Buck.

Ryback opens today’s show by discussing his opinion of Roman Reigns. He says that Reigns works very hard but he’s also very humble and respectful. He says that Reigns comes off differently than Cena, and Ryback says that might be due to the fact that he grew up in the business. From what Ryback has seen, Reigns is liked and respected by everyone backstage.

When Ryback heard that WWE is going to be filming Monday Night RAW live this year, the first thing he thought about was how much all the employees and Superstars are going to hate that. He can recall getting two weeks off for Christmas break one of his first years in the company, but the break got shortened every year after that.

He thinks it’s unfortunate because wrestlers don’t have an offseason, and they’re away from their families all year long. Christmas was one day that they knew they’d be able to spend with their families. Nonetheless, WWE is a business and cash is King.

The Young Bucks indicated on Twitter that the use of the crotch chop, which was made famous by D-Generation X in the late 90s, would no longer be permitted by WWE after they received a cease & desist notice from WWE. They discussed the letter on episode 68 of The Elite.

The Young Bucks joked about WWE taking away everything including Christmas. They sent out the following tweet on Twitter:

As previously noted, the USA Network made the decision for WWE to broadcast live this year on Christmas. Historically the show is taped in advanced for the holiday seasons so that the talents can take time off and spend it with their families.

Undertaker – Young Buck Christmas Joke

 

Nick Jackson of the infamous tag team ‘The Young Bucks‘ poked fun at The Undertaker‘s light work schedule over recent years, comparing him to Santa Claus. Even though Undertaker recently underwent hip surgery, when he made his return to WWE Smackdown LIVE about a month ago, he did indicate a potential match before WrestleMania (vs. John Cena) and there were also rumblings of him competing in the ring at the Royal Rumble PPV (vs. AJ Styles), but nothing has been set in stone, yet.
