WWE announced that Daniel Bryan will address the state of the Cruiserweight Championship in the opening of tonight’s episode of 205 Live. Here is what they wrote on their website regarding tonight’s show:

“With questions surrounding the status of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and rumors circulating about a potential General Manager for WWE 205 Live, SmackDown LIVE GM Daniel Bryan has been asked to address these issues on behalf of WWE to kick off tonight’s episode of WWE 205 Live.

Among the topics Bryan may address is the status of the WWE Cruiserweight Title. Will Cedric Alexander still have his long-awaited opportunity to claim it at Royal Rumble? Furthermore, what would the possible addition of a General Manager mean for the future of the Cruiserweight division? And is there someone lined up for the position?”

Enzo Amore, who was pulled from his Cruiserweight Championship match against Cedric Alexander this past week on RAW, returned to action at Friday’s WWE Live Event in Evansville, Indiana.

WWN Live announced that Cedric Alexander will be replacing Davey Richards at weekend EVOLVE events near Detroit and Chicago.

Alexander is scheduled to face EVOLVE Champion Zack Sabre Jr. in a non-title match at EVOLVE 92 on Friday in Livonia, Michigan. He will then face Fred Yehi at the following night in Summit, Illinois. Both matches will be for the live crowd only.

Tonight’s show features a huge match that aims to settle a very long running feud. Cedric Alexander will battle Noam Dar in an I Quit Match that will likely serve as tonight’s main event.

At Great Balls of Fire, Neville defeated Akira Tozawa to retain the Cruiserweight Championship. The two had a great match that was unfortunately relegated to the kick-off show. Last night on Raw, Neville was pinned by Akira Tozawa in tag team action. The pinfall gives Tozawa a claim to get a rematch against the King for the Cruiserweight Championship, which will likely take place at SummerSlam!

PWInsider reports that there is talk backstage at RAW that Cedric Alexander will take on Noam Dar in an “I Quit” match on tomorrow’s episode of 205 Live.

This match is slated to be their blow off to end their feud, which has centered around Alicia Fox.

Samoa Joe Talks About Moving Up To WWE’s Main Roster

When Samoa Joe arrived in WWE, he was told that there may not be much more for him other than NXT. He said on a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho that he saw NXT as an opportunity to get his foot in the door to show the company what he could do.

“I think the initial idea was, ‘let’s just bring him in for NXT’ and we got such a good response with everything that it kind of really blew up even beyond that and here I am on the main roster.” Joe said, “and really to the company’s credit, it wasn’t something that was set in stone. Like, the scenario that was laid out before me was like, ‘listen, we can use you here in NXT, but we don’t really think that it’ll go much beyond that.’

“I really wasn’t worried. It was kind of a foot-in-the-door deal and I had a lot of good people rooting for me at the time.

“I think it was a cultural thing here in WWE. I think that for a long time, past TNA projects that they had brought in hadn’t done well. And I think there was a major push within the company that says, ‘we’re going to build guys from scratch on our own.’ They had put a tremendous amount of money into the PC and the Performance Center, which is producing great talent. So it was kind of like, ‘hey, this is a guy who can help us build NXT into a brand.’”

Joe definitely made a name for himself in NXT, and since hitting the main roster, he has only shined brighter.

The Cruiserweight hasn’t been seen since suffering a knee injury back in December.

Shinsuke Nakamura In The US Title Picture?

It looks as if Shinsuke Nakamura may already have his next feud already lined up. When he gets done dispatching Dolph Ziggler at Backlash, it appears as if he will be in contention for the US Title. He and Kevin Owens are being advertised for the June 26th live event in Bakersfield, California, so maybe we will get Owens vs Nakamura heading into the summer.

We’ve seen it once before back in Ring of Honor, and it was both great in terms of action and so entertaining in terms of Owens (Kevin Steen at the time) trying to figure Nakamura out. A repeat of this would be incredible.
