Austin welcomes MLW’s Court Bauer to the show to discuss WWE’s In Your House 16: Canadian Stampede.

Austin says that this Canadian crowd was one of the hottest crowds he ever worked in front of. Austin worked in a 10-man tag match, and his team of babyfaces were immediately forced to work as heels on this night since they went up against The Hart Foundation in Canada. During this time, Bret Hart and The Hart Foundation were enormous heels in the United States but they were huge babyfaces in their home country of Canada.

Bauer says that this was a very good show overall, and he thought all the matches and packages were timed out very well. The broadcast team for this show was Vince McMahon, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, and they were phenomenal on this night. Austin agrees entirely, noting that a lot of fans didn’t like McMahon as lead commentator, but he thinks that’s one of the greatest three-men booths of all time.

The opening match of the evening was Triple H (w/Chyna) versus Mankind. Austin thought this was a great match, and he specifically enjoyed the understated, yet powerful performance from Chyna. He says that Chyna had an incredible impact on the business and she needs to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. Even though this match ended in a double count-out, Bauer thought the finish was irrelevant because these two men had a great bout that set the tone for the evening.

Bound for Glory opened with footage of Alberto el Patron entering the building as a Jeremy Borash asked what he had in store tonight at Bound for Glory.

They went into a video package on BFG with comments from many of the competitors.

Jeremy Borash welcomed everyone. The crowd looks to be in the 900 area. It’s amazing how Impact goes to another country and another venue and it really looks like they are still in the Impact Zone.

Impact Wrestling X-Division champion Trevor Lee vs. Dezmond Xavier vs. Matt Sydal vs. Petey Williams vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Garza Jr.

They said Andrew Everett and Caleb Konley were banned from ringside. HUGE pop for Petey Williams. Williams came out to his old Team Canada theme song. The fans sang the Canadian theme song and chanted his name.

The referee looks to be 13, by the way.

They said they were under lucha rules, so if someone leaves the ring, another competitor doesn’t need to tag in to enter the fray. Dutt and Sydal went back and forth and faced off. Xavier tagged himself in and they had a back and forth. They ended up on the floor. Garza and Williams entered the ring. Garza used some lucha takedowns. Lee tagged in and cleaned houde on everyone but was caught and put in the tree of woe, where he was hit with a triple dropkick in the corner. Williams stepped on his, well, nuts and sang O Canada!

The heels ended up on the floor so Williams, Dutt and Xavier hit a triple dive through the ropes. Dutt nailed a big knee on Lee but Lee came back with a brutal looking powerbomb for a two count. Lee began stomping away. Lee continued working on Dutt who came back with a dropkick. Dutt went for a tornado DDT but Lee escaped. Garza Jr. tagged un and went after Lee, who focused on Garza’s arm, which was bandaged. He cinched in an armbar, trying to force a submission.

Williams finally tagged in and hit a lot of hot offense on Lee before setting up the Canadian Destroyer. He went for the move but was driven into the corner. Sydal got involved and knocked Lee out of the ring. Williams dove out of the ring, hitting a rana in mid-air on Lee to the floor. That left Sydal and Xavier battling back in the ring. Sydal was sent to the floor. Xavier hit a space flying Tiger Drop to everyone, then hit a Spiral Tap on Lee for a two count. Dutt broke it up at the fast second.

Sydal nailed a rana off the top on Xavier, with Xavier wiping out Dutt by crashing into him in the process. Garza locked Sydal in a submission but was nailed by Williams. Petey locked in a Sharpshooter, which got a huge pop but Dutt broke it up. Lots of action. Williams nailed the Canadian Destroyer on Xavier but was pitched out of the ring by Lee, who then stole the pin.

Your winner and still X-Division champion, Trevor Lee!

They showed Impact champion Eli Drake entering the venue with Chris Adonis.

They showed Michigan independent wrestler Michigan’s Hakim Zane, who won their YouTube competition series Global Forged. They said he would be in compeititon for Impact soon.

Taiji Ishimori vs. Tyson Dux

Bonus match. Ishimori nailed a big shoulder block to no effect. They went back and forth until Ishimori nailed a rana and a dropkick, sending him to the outside. Ishimori teased a dive but held onto the ropes, playing mind games with Dux. Dux returned to the ring and cut off Ishimori, nailing a big backdrop.

They showed Laurel Van Ness stumbling around in the crowd with the idea that she was in no condition to be there. The cameras kept focusing on her. Ishimori came off the top with a Thesz Press. Dux whipped out some power moves but was hit with a 450 splash off the top for the pin.

Your winner, Taiji Ishimori!

They showed Johnny Impact arriving at the venue earlier.

Backstage, Grado was warming up when Abyss came up to him. Grado tried to reason with Joseph but was told that Joseph wasn’t here. He promised that Grado was hurt and was going to be exported. Grado cut a promo saying he was proud of wrestling all over the world and getting a visa to work here. He promised we were going to see a different Grado.

Out comes Alberto El Patron. He cuts a promo on the “backstabbers in the back” and says they screwed him. He talks about all the rumors online and how officials believed them, even though the reports were wrong. El Patron keeps repeating himself over and over. Patron heads over the announcer booth and calls out Jeremy Borash for not calling or texting him while he was away. El Patron says he came to Canada to make a statement and he’s going to make it with Borash. He then says maybe not and then goes to the back.

Earl Hebner is done with Impact Wrestling, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Hebner left the company this week for the same reason that referees Robert King, Brian Stiffler and Hebner’s son Brian did. Apparently the company informed that the company would be using local referees while in Canada moving forward.

Hebner joins Rockett, Brian Stifler, Brian Hebner, Robert Moore, Rockstar Spud, Reno SCUM, Eddie Kingston and Taryn Terrell as the most recent departures.

Jericho welcomes Harv and Guru Sirah (The Singh Brothers) to the show.

Jericho recalls The Singh bros showing up at a WWE live event in Toronto, Canada 10 years ago. They were independent talents at that time who were simply trying to get noticed and Jericho recalls wishing them the best of luck at that time. It’s a decade later and here we are with The Singh bros working in the main event picture as top heels.

They were kicked out of the building that night and although they were disappointed they didn’t let that interfere with their long term goals. They were able to meet Jericho that evening and they looked at that as the silver lining of that experience. They appreciated Jericho being kind to them that day, and Jericho points out that he always tries to be nice to people in those circumstances because here they are all these years later working together.

The Singh bros mention that they began training and working out of Vancouver, which is a terrible wrestling city. Jericho agrees and mentions that WWE barely ever travels to Vancouver anymore. They soon began working for Tony Condello and his ‘Northern Death Tours’, which had them travelling to Northern Canada and driving over frozen lakes in order to get to the towns.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest installment of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Impact Wrestling is planning to tape multiple episodes of Impact in major cities such as New York, Toronto or Chicago.

These claims are said to be “skeptical” right now because Impact is attempting to cut costs and when they tape in Canada, they receive a tax break. It’s also being said it would cost the company more money to tape in bigger markets such as New York and Chicago, so it may be very unlikely that we will see them in that area anytime soon.

There is also the belief that it would be hard for Impact to sell tickets right now because the product is considered “cold.” If Impact does decide to tape in these areas, it is very likely that they won’t be in any arenas.

Jim Cornette is already done with Impact Wrestling, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

It’s being said that there is no heat between Anthem and Cornette. Cornette agreed to work one set of television tapings but Jeff Jarrett had asked him to work another set and the upcoming Bound for Glory event. Cornette is unable to travel to Canada and won’t be used at the upcoming Bound for Glory show.

The creative team is now being ran by Scott D’Amore and Sonjay Dutt now that Jarrett is no longer around. They are planning on focusing more on the in-ring action and less on authority figure angles, which is what Cornette was brought in for.

Cornette has agreed to go to Nashville and tape whatever storyline they needed for his exit. Nothing right now is set in that regard.

Not at all. But it is just one of those things that it is like Hogan and Andre it was shocking to the world and believe me the people in Canada still hate me. I have talked to Bret and we are great friends and we’ve had a couple personal appearances together and hugged me and he hugged my brother (Dave) and we all know the deal. I really don’t want to go into all that because we all know the deal.”

Doing the “You Damn Right I Did” act at shows and who did “screw Bret”: “Whenever I’m around Bret I don’t bring them and truthfully Vince screwed Bret. Earl didn’t screw Bret, Vince screwed Bret. Earl did what he had to do. It was his (Vince’s) command and that is what happened but I think most Americans understand but I don’t think any Canadians will ever forgive me but I hope that they do. If you look at my track record, I’ve been put in a lot of tough spots in my career. Where other referees would not volunteer, Vince knew what I would do and whatever his demands were is what I did. So you can’t put the blame on me, you’ve got to put it on him.”

Will he ever be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and being inducted into the IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Fame: “It an honor and since I’ll probably never go into the WWE Hall of Fame because we still have problems down the road and it doesn’t really matter to me whether I do or I don’t, anybody that knows me will know who I am. If Vince doesn’t ever want to induct me into it that is fine. I really think I should be but the problems that we still have, it is what it is. If I never get in there that is fine and it is no problem to me but people know who I am and I’ll let it be my legend of being a Hebner and I’ll just base it on that.”

Being the “evil twin” referee in Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant’s Main Event title match his first night in the WWE: “I was nervous. They invented this whole program over about I’d say a good three weeks in Connecticut. Bu it was great for me that I was the evil twin (and I’m still evil) and if you look at my past record you can tell I’m evil (laughing), I’m actually not I am a nice guy but it worked great for me that they put me on the goal line of working for somebody and I’m not knocking the NWA but to make a life in this business and to make money. It was so quiet or if you want to say it was kayfabed so long and nobody knew anything until it happened. It was so great. It is the way the business should be but today it isn’t like it was when I first started. What a great opportunity for me and it made me who I am today and is one of the main angles that made me who I am today.”

The injury sustained after Hulk Hogan launched Earl over his intended target of Ted Dibiase, Virgil and Andre: “When he started running and I was in his arms, I was saying to myself that is not the plan. He was supposed to walk to the ropes and throw me in their arms. When he shot me I missed everybody including Andre and when I hit the floor I destroyed my rotator cuff in my right arm. When I hit that floor it just exploded my whole right arm and rotator cuff and I was out for about eight weeks or nine weeks getting it repaired. When I got to the back I was thinking that this is sure a good way to get into the front door because when I hit that concrete floor and it exploded, brother it was horrible.”
