Sportskeeda‘s Riju Dasgupta recently spoke with The Undertaker while he was promoting the upcoming WWE Live Event in India. Here are some highlights from the interview:

How he felt about beating the Undertaker at WrestleMania:

What it means for him to become the Intercontinental Champion:

” It was extremely important for me. Not just a checklist of holding all the titles, working towards the grand slam achievement, but just the fact that it is known as the ‘workhorse title’. That title has been known to be present at every single TV, every single live event. I don’t care who I’m wrestling. As long as someone’s willing to get in there, compete and push me, I believe iron sharpens iron. If you want to get in there with me, just be willing to step up. That’s the thing. I’m a fighting champion.”

Becoming a Grand Slam champion:

“It’s really neat. I’m so driven at this point that it feels really good, but I still know that there’s another out there. Even though, with the new generation, the new era, you can switch it up due to creative and storyline but that Universal Championship is still very important to me. Right now, the most important thing and priority is to represent this Intercontinental title. That’s my goal, to make it ‘the’ title, not only on RAW, but in WWE. It’s what everybody wants to see. Everybody wants to see Roman Reigns defend the IC Championship. That’s what I want. That’s the reputation of this title.”

His message for Indian fans:

“I just want to say, last time I came, they were excellent. I felt that, it was real. I felt goosebumps being there, it gives me goosebumps thinking about it right now. I just want to say thank you for the way they received me last year. We’re going to come there and we’re going to give it our all. That’s all we can do. It’s going to be a great show, and I hope they can enjoy it. We’re looking forward to it. Can’t wait to get there.”

Ross opens today’s show speaking about the recent injuries to Bayley and Scott Dawson. He says that injuries never come at a good time, and the key is returning with a vengeance. If you suffer an injury like this you have to get better everyday you’re off, by either watching tape or training if possible. Ross truly believes both of these talents will come back better than before they left.

Ross informs that he started recording his audio book this past week and just as he expected, he’s really struggling with it. The guys who are helping him and listening to him love the work he did, but he really struggled to get through it. It was very difficult stirring up all those memories once again, and he always hated the way he sounded, so this project has become quite difficult for him. Nontheless, he says his book is very raw and very real.

Ross says that he hasn’t heard from WWE lately concerning the planned WWE Network UK special. He says that the project is still highly regarded in WWE and it certainly still has a pulse. He believes it’s just a matter of time before it sees the light of day on the WWE Network.

He believes that the two SummerSlam main events have a chance to be special. The important thing about these matches according to Ross is that the losers have to get over as well as the winners. The Fatal 4-way allows plenty of room for all four men to get their stuff in and shine, and the WWE Championship match between Orton and Mahal should be presented in a way where both men come out stronger than they went in.

WWE has announced that Heavy Machinery will receive a shot at The Authors of Pain for the NXT Championships on the July 12th episode of NXT. Here is the preview they posted for the match:

The Authors of Pain have built their NXT Tag Team Title Championship upon a foundation of brute force and physical dominance. However, against Heavy Machinery — AOP’s newly confirmed challengers for the July 12 episode of NXT — Ellering’s menacing monsters, for once, find themselves against opponents who can more than match their immensity.

For Tucker Knight & Otis Dozovic, the battle cry of “steaks and weights” isn’t just playful banter; it’s a way of life. The numbers tell the story: 320-pound Knight boasts a 365-pound bench press and 500-pound squats and deadlifts, while 330-pound Dozovic lays claim to a 475-pound bench press, a 610-pound squat and a 710-pound deadlift. Beneath the muscle and outsized personalities are two elite grapplers who torched collegiate competition before turning to NXT, where their success has been just as great.

Not that any of those facts will intimidate The Authors of Pain. Akam & Rezar are 300-pounders, and they have MMA and world-class wrestling backgrounds, too. Their WWE Hall of Fame manager appears to have his misgivings about the burly challengers, even if he won’t admit it, but AOP only has one thing in mind: Adding Knight & Dozovic to The Book of Dominance.

While speaking to The AV Club, Jim Ross talked about his book that will cover his past drug addiction and made the following remarks:

“You’re going to hear about my addiction to drugs. I was addicted to Ambien and Xanax, together, with Crown Royal. I was on Uranus, and Pluto, and Neptune, and everywhere else late at night. [Because] I had severe sleep apnea – and still do – I stopped breathing 99 times in an hour in a sleep test. So I wasn’t in real great shape with that deal.”

“Ambien is a temporary medication for insomnia. Temporary. Not ten years. …It’s not a [revolutionary] story, it’s eye-opening, and shows it can happen to anybody. It was like smoking, I just decided one day to quit smoking, and stopped. Done, I’m done.”
