Bobby Heenan’s Cause Of Death Revealed

The obituary for Bobby Heenan in the Tampa Bay Times has revealed The Brain’s cause of death. Apparently, Heenan died due to organ failure due to throat cancer. Heenan was originally diagnosed with throat cancer in 2002.

According to his daughter Jessica Solt, “It was just his time.”

WWE Talent Already Tossing Around Starrcade Match Ideas

As we reported yesterday, WWE is bringing back Starrcade. The event will air on the WWE Network and take place on November 25th from The Greensboro Coliseum. Since Starrcade was Dusty Rhodes’ brain child when he was an executive producer and booker for Jim Crockett Promotions and the NWA, his family is already tossing around ideas for matches for the show.

WWE Hall of Famer Bobby “The Brain” Heenan passes away

WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Bobby Heenan, regarded by many as the greatest manager in sports-entertainment history, has passed away at age 73.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Heenan was the “The Brain” behind some of the most prolific Superstars in sports-entertainment history. Heenan plied his trade as their mischievous manager by running his mouth on their behalf with a sarcastic wit considered among the best in the business.

Heenan named competitors under his guidance as the Heenan Family, a moniker meant to show the strength of their alliance over any opposition. Members of the Heenan Family in the AWA and WWE read like the who’s who of sports-entertainment, including Legends and WWE Hall of Famers such as Nick Bockwinkel, the Blackjacks, Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, “Ravishing” Rick Rude, “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig, the Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard), Harley Race, and of course, the first WWE Hall of Famer, Andre the Giant, whom Heenan led to the ring at WrestleMania III before 93,173 fans.

As impossible as it may seem, Heenan’s overwhelming success as a manager was matched by that of his announcing career. Heenan’s constant verbal jousts with fellow WWE Hall of Famers Gorilla Monsoon and “Mean” Gene Okerlund on USA Network remain among the most memorable moments in sports-entertainment history. In fact, “The Brain” was so entertaining that “The Bobby Heenan Show” had a brief run on USA Network as well.

In addition, “The Brain” was part of the original broadcast team for Monday Night Raw in 1993, and also sat at the announce table for both Raw and WCW Monday Nitro.

WWE extends its condolences to Heenan’s family, friends and fans.

Sasha Banks On Preferring NXT & The 4 Horsewomen

During a recent interview, Sasha Banks discussed her preference for NXT over the main roster.

“NXT, because that’s always home for me and I feel like that’s really where I made a name for myself.”

She also spoke about her friendship with the 4 Horsewomen of the WWE.

“It’s the best, they motivate me. They make me who I am because I want to be the best and I want to get better every single day. I remember being with Bayley, Charlotte, and Becky in NXT, and we just pushed each other, and I remember every time that we had a match we wanted to outshine the guys, having the fans be like, ‘You know what, they stole the show.’ That’s the best feeling in the world.

“It’s crazy, I feel like you hit your friends harder. Legit, we go to war with each other. I’ve had countless amazing matches with Becky, and with Bayley, we won Match Of The Year of 2015. I want people to be like ‘That wasn’t just a good match because they’re girls,’ or ‘That was a good girls’ match.’ I want them to be like ‘That was a good match, period.’”

Bobby Heenan has passed away at the age of 72.

While his cause of death has not been determined, Heenan has been dealing with serious health issues ever since his battle with throat cancer and had to cancel an appearance because he couldn’t travel. Heenan was said to have died surrounded by family.

It is being reported that Bobby Heenan, famed wrestler and manager all over the wrestling world for over 40 years, has passed away today at the age of 73. Heenan had been fighting throat cancer since 2002, and his appearances at wrestling conventions and other pro wrestling-related events have been scarce since his diagnosis.

According to reports from his family, he began to decline at the end of August, with his health and condition getting worse, but his passing today was still sudden.

Jim Ross broke the news on his Twitter account just a few moments ago.

“Mean” Gene Okerlund also confirmed Heenan’s passing on his Facebook page:

Saddened by the news that arrived this afternoon from Bobby Heenans daughter Jess, that he has passed. Bobby and his family have had to endure so much because of his health. Bobby Heenan was such a great friend. You don’t replace people like that. Condolences to Cyndi, Jessica, family, friends and fans. RIP Bobby.

Bobby Heenan began his career as a wrestler and manager in the 1960s, debuting as “Pretty Boy” Bobby Heenan. Over the years, though, it would be under the moniker “The Brain” that Heenan would make his mark, both in the AWA in the 1980s, and in the WWF/WWE in the 1980s and 1990s. The Heenan Family was one of the most successful stables in the WWF, with Heenan at the head, and along with his managerial duties, he slid into the commentary booth with Gorilla Monsoon in 1986. The two became one of the most beloved and iconic commentary teams of all time.

Heenan left the WWF in 1993, citing issues with a previous neck injury (a broken neck to be exact) as to why he could no longer keep up with the promotion’s crazy schedule. But, barely a month later, Heenan showed up in WCW, where he would remain as a commentator until he was released in 2000.

Heenan was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2004, and over the span of his career, he managed some of the businesses top stars. He earned PWI’s Manager Of The Year Award in 1972, 1976, 1989, & 1991), and he was inducted into the WON Hall Of Fame in 1996.

It appears that wrestling legend Bobby Heenan is dealing with another health issue. The Fanboy Expo page mentioned on Facebook that he is unable to attend their event in Knoxville in October due to being “immobile and unable to travel.” Here is the statement they released:

“Unfortunately Bobby Heenan will not be able to join us for Totally Awesome Weekend. Bobby is currently immobile and unable to travel Please send out your prayers and positive vibes to him and his family.

And i would like to take this time to remind everyone how unique of an opportunity you have at events like ours. It’s not everyday you get to meet a childhood hero, a legend, or someone you have been a fan of for years. Events like Fanboy Expo give you a shot at telling that story, shake that hand or take that cool picture. We are constantly reminded how fragile life is (even for a celebrity). So take advantage of it! You’ll be so glad you did.”
