The Ross Report Recap w/ Lita & Madusa – Great Balls of Fire Analysis, Strowman is WWE’s ‘Next Big Thing’, Mae Young Classic, More!

Ross thought that Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar had a great match at last Sunday’s Great Balls of Fire event.  He thought the match was believable at every turn, and Joe actually had the majority of the offence during the bout. He liked the story that both men told, and he didn’t have a problem with the finish of the match at all.

Some fans were aggravated by the fact that it only took one F5 to defeat Joe, and this is a tale of the times in Ross’ opinion. Fans have become accustomed to wrestlers kicking out of each other’s finishing moves, and he thinks that’s a problem for the wrestling business. A wrestler’s ‘finisher’ is supposed to ‘finish’ the match, and he believes that apart from big events like WrestleMania, finishing moves should be protected.

He admits that the outcome of the match was somewhat predictable with Lesnar winning but he thinks there will be a rematch at some point down the road, maybe as soon as SummerSlam if Joe is able to defeat Roman Reigns on RAW next week.

Ross thinks that Braun Strowman has a chance to be the ‘next big thing’ in WWE. After seeing Strowman walk away from that crash at Great Balls of Fire, Ross feels it’s hard to root against him, even if he’s supposed to be a heel. Strowman is a powerful, believable character who Ross thinks fans can get behind. He says that Strowman is the type of performer that you build a company around.

Brock Lesnar’s Reaction to Samoa Joe’s Performance at WWE Great Balls of Fire

Brock Lesnar was reportedly very impressed with how his match against Samoa Joe at Sunday’s WWE Great Balls of Fire turned out.

Fightful.com reports that Lesnar was apparently “extremely happy” with Samoa Joe’s performance in the match. It’s being said that Lesnar was “particularly thrilled that Joe was able to keep up with his physical style and was able to give it back.”

It will be interesting to see if we get to see them go one-on-one again in the near future. Samoa Joe will have the opportunity if he can defeat Roman Reigns on RAW next week.

WWE Monday Night Raw Results – July 10 2017

Welcome to Monday Night Raw, one night removed from the first-ever Great Balls of Fire PPV!

The biggest talking-point coming out of Great Balls of Fire last night was the massive segment between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman. Braun won the ambulance match after Roman went for a spear and missed, sending him flying into the back of the ambulance allowing Strowman to close the doors. Roman immediately burst out of the ambulance and threw Braun inside, then proceeded to drive the ambulance into the parking lot and ram it into a production truck. Roman pretty much tried to kill Braun and walked away. Paramedics and firemen arrived and opened the ambulance up, allowing Braun to emerge bloody and beaten, but walk away under his own power. It was an incredible sight that would have been right at home in the Attitude Era. Braun looked like an absolute monster, and so did Roman…for the wrong reasons. Roman was undeniably heelish and the announcers played on this, so Roman will surely have to answer to Kurt Angle tonight.

In the main event of last night’s show, Brock Lesnar defeated Samoa Joe after being beat down for the better part of the match. Joe attacked Brock before the bell even rung and smashed him through the announce table. Joe then had the majority of offence throughout the match until Lesnar caught him with an F5 and took home the gold. It was a really good match that never quite reached 5th gear. Word is that we will get a number one contender match tonight between Joe and Roman, leading to a match with Brock at SummerSlam. I think it’s fair to say Joe would be the deserving and preferable winner for most fans.

Alexa Bliss also retained her Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks last night, in a match in which she dislocated her own elbow to get a cheap shot on Sasha. In the end, Sasha won the match via count-out, allowing Alexa to retain. This certainly allows the feud to continue, seemingly into SummerSlam, where maybe Nia Jax will be inserted. There’s a lot of directions the women’s division could head in right now and it’s pretty cool.

The Miz also retained his Intercontinental Championship last night against Dean Ambrose once again. Surely this feud is over now, it’s gone on well past its peak and I think interest is pretty much non-existent. The Miz will hopefully move on to a new opponent for SummerSlam, maybe Finn Balor. Speaking of moving on, Sheamus & Cesaro beat The Hardy Boyz again in an Iron Man match last night. This has been a great feud but it’s expiration date arrived last night and it’s time for both teams to move on.

There’s a lot to be excited about for tonight’s Raw as we start our trek towards SummerSlam! Let us know your thoughts or feelings on our Ringside Talk app, or on the Ringside News app! Enjoy the show!

Huge Shift In Betting Odds Before Tonight’s Pay-Per-View

There was a huge shift in the betting odds for the WWE Women’s Championship prior to tonight’s Great Balls of Fire event.

Sasha Banks, who was a huge underdog this morning, is now a big favorite to win the bout. Sasha is sitting at a -3250 favorite to defeat Alexa, who is a +1350 underdog.

It should be pointed out that it doesn’t necessarily indicate that she’s winning the title, as she could always win by DQ or countout.

WWE 205 Live Results – July 4 2017

Welcome to the fastest hour on television, 205 Live!

Tonight’s show takes place on the patriotic 4th of July and we’re less than a week away from Great Balls of Fire. The Cruiserweight Champion, Neville, puts his title on the line against the formidable Akira Tozawa on the GBF kick-off show. Last night on Raw Neville obliterated Mustafa Ali and sent a clear message to Tozawa: no-one is on the Neville level. WWE.Com is teasing that Neville will look to send another message on tonight’s show, perhaps against Tozawa himself.

The only other preview for tonight’s show pertains to Alicia Fox, Noam Dar, and Cedric Alexander. Yes, I know, the feud that will not die. WWE’s writers seem to have little to no interest in 205 Live, hence why feuds last for a very long time and revolve around some small issue that never gets resolved. Thankfully the in-ring action is usually pretty great and that makes it worth watching, that being said this feud needs to come to an end and Alexander can move on to something much more worth his time.

Get talking on the Ringside Talk app and the Ringside News app, both of which you can grab for free! Enjoy the show!

WWE Monday Night Raw Results – July 3 2017

Welcome to the final edition of Monday Night Raw before Sunday’s Great Balls of Fire PPV!

Tonight’s show is anchored by the return of Brock Lesnar, who will defend his Universal Championship for the first time since WrestleMania on Sunday. Lesnar has had to sit back and watch as Samoa Joe took centre stage for this feud and even attacked his advocate Paul Heyman. So Lesnar decided to pay Joe a visit and was promptly choked down by the Samoan Bulldozer! One week from the huge showdown, Lesnar will definitely want to regain some momentum, meanwhile Samoa Joe is on the roll of a lifetime and fans are hungry for more!

Speaking of being hungry and never satisfied, Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns will also have a gargantuan showdown at Great Balls of Fire – which ironically might be the best card for a terribly named PPV ever. The two big canines will fight for ownership of the back yard in an Ambulance Match and I would be shocked if we didn’t see said ambulance come into play one more time this week, seeing as Braun threw Roman into it last week and sent him packing. Fans will hope to see more of the same this week.

Last week’s main event saw Sasha Banks defeat the seemingly unstoppable Nia Jax, who had already bested Emma, Mickie James, Dana Brooke, and Bayley, in a Gauntlet Match to become number one contender. Banks’ win was pretty surprising but sets-up an exciting showdown at Great Balls of Fire. The Champion Alexa Bliss came to the ring after the match and shoved her title in Banks’ face but was promptly met with a dropkick to her own dentures! Expect more fireworks tonight ahead of the 4th of July!

Elsewhere on tonight’s show, Enzo Amore was ceremoniously dumped by Big Cass for the second week in a row and it seems inevitable that these two will have a showdown on Sunday night. The match hasn’t yet been announced but surely tonight is the night. And then there’s Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt who’ve done more talking in the past three weeks than Undertaker did in over 30 years, so hopefully we get something more substantial tonight.

All that and more to look forward to on tonight’s show. Don’t forget to check out the Ringside News app, as well as our new Ringside Talk app, which allows you to converse with all your fellow marks! Let us know your thoughts and feelings and enjoy the show!

Speculation on Roman Reigns’ SummerSlam Announcement

It was announced by WWE that Roman Reigns would be making a SummerSlam announcement on the upcoming episode of RAW on Monday night.

Dave Meltzer discussed this topic on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio. While Meltzer couldn’t confirm exactly what the announcement is, he presented a scenario that would see Reigns challenge the winner of the Great Balls of Fire match between Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe.

Meltzer would go on to speculated that somehow WWE would do an angle that would setup Reigns vs. Strowman before the SummerSlam event (possibly on RAW or Great Balls of Fire), with the winner of that match facing Lesnar. Strowman would defeat Reigns and move onto the SummerSlam match against Brock for WWE Universal Championship.
