Russo mentions that rumours are circulating regarding the status of Paige’s in-ring career. Apparently she has been forced to retire after taking a kick to the back area from Sasha Banks at a recent live event, and Russo thinks this entire thing could have been avoided.

He doesn’t want to criticize Sasha Banks too heavily because she probably already feels terrible about this situation. However, over the last couple years he’s seen Sting and now Paige forced into retirement due to reckless in-ring work that should have never happened.

Russo recalls watching Seth Rollins throwing Sting around like a rag doll during their match a couple of years ago. He’s sure Sting agreed to do whatever Rollins wanted during the match, but Rollins should have been smarter and protected Sting, given that Sting was in his mid-50s at the time.

Fast-forwarding to today, it was known that Paige has had issues with her neck and spine for the last little while. Instead of protecting her opponent as her job description outlines, Banks kicked Paige right in the back from behind. Russo points out that part of working in the wrestling business is protecting your opponent, and much like Rollins with Sting, Banks failed to protect Paige during this match.

It was reported last week that Paige was removed from WWE events after she suffered an injury after Sasha Banks kicked her in the face at the WWE Live Event in Long Island, NY.

In an update, PWInsider reports that Paige is backstage for tonight’s RAW event in Miami, Florida. The word going around backstage is that she has not been cleared to return to in-ring action. It’s very likely that she doesn’t appear on television tonight.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything else regarding her status for tonight’s show.

It was being speculated Sunday night by various websites that Brock Lesnar may have been injured in his Survivor Series match against AJ Styles, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Many fans in attendance noticed Lesnar limping to the back after the Champion vs. Champion match and figured that he was hurt. We can confirm that he’s not hurt and was only selling the match. Lesnar appeared fine backstage after the match.

Lesnar isn’t expected to return to television at all for the rest of the year . Lesnar’s next match will be at The Royal Rumble event, however Vince McMahon nixed the plans for the match against Balor that they were previously building. It remains to be seen who his next challenger will be.

It was reported a while back that Enzo Amore kicked out of the WWE locker room and not allowed to be around the boys because of his backstage heat.

According to @WrestleVotes, the account that recently broke the news about Neville and Nia Jax, Enzo is still kicked out of the locker room and not allowed in. The account made the following remarks about Enzo, claiming that as of last week he still wasn’t allowed in the locker room:

“Regarding Enzo, I’m hearing the backstage heat is still real. As of last week, he was still not allowed in the locker room.”

Russo is joined on today’s show by Big Vito. On today’s show they will discuss Sunday’s Hell in A Cell PPV.

Russo recalls being backstage in 1997 during the iconic Undertaker/Mankind Hell in A Cell match. He says watching that match made him sick because he cared so much for Mick Foley, and he couldn’t understand why Foley would take such incredible risks given that he had a young family at home. When Foley came backstage he told him to his face, “You’re crazy!”.

Russo had a similar feeling while watching the Kevin Owens/Shane McMahon match on Sunday night. He says that this match didn’t entertain him because he was terrified for the performers throughout the entire match. He hated watching McMahon jump from the top of that cell for the second time, and he wonders what it’s going to take for performers to stop taking these kind of risks.

Big Vito agrees and says that although WWE certainly took every precaution they could to ensure McMahon’s safety, there’s no way to predict what’s going to happen when someone leaps from the top of the cell. He adds that nobody lost in this match because even though McMahon took the pin, he looked competitive throughout and Owens needed Zayn’s interference in order to survive.

This Tuesday we saw SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon revealed that his match against Kevin Owens at the Hell in a Cell PPV this Sunday will be a falls count anywhere match inside the Cell.

Bryan Alvarez mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that the reason WWE might have added the stipulation to the match, saying that WWE might pre-record Shane’s stunt backstage with a stunt-double so as to avoid any potential injuries to the 47 year-old Commissioner of SmackDown.

“So, what’s the point of announcing that it’s a falls count anywhere match, except that maybe they were going over various ideas, and Shane decided ‘you know what, I’m old and I have a family, I really don’t wanna kill myself,’ and so they’re gonna do a pre-tape with a stunt man of something really stupid happening backstage, and they can do the finish there and not risk anybody’s life.”

As seen at last night’s No Mercy pay-per-view, Cesaro suffered a broken tooth early on during his match with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins for the RAW Tag Team Championships. The Swiss Superman, despite his gruesome injury, went on to wrestle for another 11 minutes until they lost the match to the champions.

Former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan revealed on his podcast that Cesaro received a standing ovation backstage after his match because of his phenomenal showmanship. The former tag team champion had to undergo emergency dental work and also received three stitches.

As seen on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, WWE did a backstage segment that featured Dolph Ziggler mocking other superstars on the roster. Ziggler said he would play guitar, sing, dance, glow, and do any number of things he’s noticed other superstars doing who seem to be getting more of a reaction than him.

Dave Meltzer discussed his return on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and mentioned that Ziggler’s new gimmick is that he is a complainer.

“Dolph Ziggler is back and his new gimmick is that he’s a complainer?” Dave Meltzer questioned on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Bryan Alvarez would then question, “Wasn’t that the gimmick he had before?”

PWInsider reports that former NXT Champion Bobby Roode is backstage for tonight’s RAW episode. It’s being said that he’s the only member of the NXT roster that appears to be backstage for tonight’s show.

As previously reported, Roode is the next major WWE call up to the main roster. He is expected to receive a huge main event push upon his arrival. It was originally said that he would be arriving to the SmackDown Live brand but those plans could have changed.
