Russo opens today’s show by informing that he’s going to be a Grandfather for the first time. He’s very excited about this news and he thanks all of his fans for sending him so many kind messages on social media. He points out that news like this really helps you put life in perspective.

Russo mentions that a lot of his fans accused him of “working” them over the last couple of weeks as he refused to speak about RAW25. These fans assumed that Russo was invited to attend the event all along and he was refusing to speak about it in order to keep it a secret. That way, when he arrived at RAW25 it would be a huge surprise.

He says that this was never the case, and there were never any conversations between him and WWE about returning to the company for the one-night-only event. He points out that he hates to leave his house to travel these days, but a part of him really hoped that WWE would do the right thing in this case by extending an invitation to him and Ferrara.

Russo says that whether you like it or not, there would have been no attitude era without him and Ed Ferrara. He knows that Superstars such as Steve Austin and The Rock played a huge part in WWE’s success at that time as well, but the fact that he and Ferrara were the ones writing the lines for those stars made them an invaluable part of the company at that time in his opinion.

Mike Rowe caught up with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin after he delivered a Stone Cold Stunner to Vince and Shane McMahon on tonight’s RAW 25th Anniversary show.

Austin said it feels good to be here and talked about WWE inviting him to the show. Austin described the show as a big family reunion. Moments into the interview, Austin unleashes a verbal assault on Rowe for having only one question for Stone Cold. Austin says he wants a proper interview and Rowe needs to go home and do his homework.

According to Paddy Power, John Cena is currently the favorite to win the 30-Man Royal Rumble match at next month’s Royal Rumble event.

Cena’s odds are currently at 9/4. Roman Reigns is the running up with a 5/2 odd, with Nakamura being the third favorite at 11/4.

Cena already has two Royal Rumble wins under his belt. If he was to win again, he would tie “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s record for most wins, which is at three.

The Royal Rumble event takes place on January 28 at the Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As always, we will have live play-by-play coverage of the show.

Dave Meltzer discussed Sheamus’ issues with spin stenosis on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and mentioned that WWE is protecting Sheamus in his matches.

Meltzer pointed out that Sheamus was barely taking any bumps at all while working the WWE Live Events in Dubai. The company also had him in six-man matches as a way to protect him.

“They are definitely protecting him right now,” Meltzer explained.

As previously noted, spinal stenosis led to the end of former WWE Superstars Steve Austin and Edge’s careers and Sheamus’ career could be in jeopardy. Sheamus has been rehabbing the injury while also working WWE events.

Austin welcomes Sasha Banks to the show.

Banks informs that she spent the early years of her life moving from city to city, accommodating her brother who has autism. Her mother and her would spend a lot of their time caring for him, but her getaway was watching wrestling for a few hours each week.

She feels like she’s been training to be a wrestler her entire life. As a teenager she’d rent wrestling movies and take bumps on her mattress. She mentions that she never really had a backup plan other than becoming a professional wrestler and Austin says that he didn’t either, even though neither of them would recommend that.

She began training in MMA at a young age, training in Judo, Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu, but she didn’t like getting punched in the face so she started training to become a professional wrestler when she turned 18. Initially she was afraid to take bumps but she had a pep talk with herself, encouraging herself to follow her dream and stick with it. She absolutely loves taking bumps now, and she still loves the business very much.

Austin welcomes Ken Anderson to the show.

Anderson informs that he was trained by two men who never made it to WWE, but luckily they understood the psychology of the business and Anderson was able to pick up on that side of the business very early on. He and some of the other trainees were also able to work as enhancement talent for WWE from time to time and that was a huge break for him. He recalls Austin being very kind to him when he’d show up at a WWE show for an enhancement role.

December 6th will mark the first anniversary of the opening of his own wrestling school, which he co-owns with Shawn Daivari. He mentions that this school is a big deal for him and he’s taking great pride in helping usher the new wave of wrestling talent into the business.

His goal is not only to train wrestlers, but to give people a chance to break into the business in any variety of roles. He recalls training one person who put in a tremendous amount of effort but simply couldn’t figure out the art of in-ring wrestling. The person decided to try his hand at refereeing instead, and he ultimately became a terrific referee who’s now getting booked at indie shows every weekend.

An individual took to Facebook to call out Austin Aries for being abusive when he and his friends attempted ask him for a photo recently.

According to fan who goes by Cameron, he and his friends spotted Aries at an airport and approached him to try to get a photo with him. Things quickly got ugly with Aries as Cameron said he was abusive to them when they approached him. Cameron would then revealed that Aries would tried to get them kicked out of Qantas but the staff wouldn’t oblige with Aries’ demands.

Aries took to Twitter to respond to the allegations from the fan and basically said that if they want photos they should go to the show and pay for them like everyone else.

During Thursday’s WWE NXT Live Event in Austin, TX., Adam Cole was busted open the hardy way in a six man tag between The Undisputed Era and Sanity. Correspondent Cody Walper sent along the following regarding the incident:

“They set up a spot on the floor literally right in front of me where Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly and Cole all got sent into each other head-first by Sanity and it sounded like a soda busting in a freezer. Cole bled heavily and got pulled to the back to get cleaned up. The rest of the guys did an awesome job buying time until Cole came back out (never once breaking character) and continued the match.”

The Undisputed ended up scoring the victory in the match.

Austin welcomes MLW’s Court Bauer to the show to discuss WWE’s In Your House 16: Canadian Stampede.

Austin says that this Canadian crowd was one of the hottest crowds he ever worked in front of. Austin worked in a 10-man tag match, and his team of babyfaces were immediately forced to work as heels on this night since they went up against The Hart Foundation in Canada. During this time, Bret Hart and The Hart Foundation were enormous heels in the United States but they were huge babyfaces in their home country of Canada.

Bauer says that this was a very good show overall, and he thought all the matches and packages were timed out very well. The broadcast team for this show was Vince McMahon, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler, and they were phenomenal on this night. Austin agrees entirely, noting that a lot of fans didn’t like McMahon as lead commentator, but he thinks that’s one of the greatest three-men booths of all time.

The opening match of the evening was Triple H (w/Chyna) versus Mankind. Austin thought this was a great match, and he specifically enjoyed the understated, yet powerful performance from Chyna. He says that Chyna had an incredible impact on the business and she needs to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. Even though this match ended in a double count-out, Bauer thought the finish was irrelevant because these two men had a great bout that set the tone for the evening.
