Destiny Wrestling announced that WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne will face the newly crowned Impact Wrestling World Champion Austin Aries at an upcoming event.

The Canadian promotion wrote the following on Twitter regarding the match: “History will be made as the NEW @IMPACTWRESTLING champion @AustinAries takes on current Destiny & WWE Uk Champion @PeteDunneYxB for the first time EVER! 2 worlds will collide for the biggest indy match in the world already in 2018 LIVE in Toronto next Sun Jan 21 @BattleArtsMMA”

James Storm Parts Ways With Impact Wrestling

James Storm is done with Impact Wrestling. As we reported last week, there was speculation that Storm would be the next name to leave the company, and during last night’s tapings in Ottawa, he finished up with his long-time promotion.

Storm’s contract with the company isn’t up until January of 2018, but with these tapings carrying Impact through the end of this year, this was his last appearance for the promotion.

Austin Aries On His WWE Departure

Despite reports to the contrary, Austin Aries apparently did not ask for his release from WWE, nor was he unhappy with his role in the company. During a recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho, Aries cleared up any confusion on how and why he left the company earlier this year.

“I mean, long story short, and I can’t speak to stuff that I’ve read or that people have read because those things were never brought to me personally, so that’s really… I don’t like to deal with speculation. Just plain and simple, I was told that they had nothing for me creatively. I was set to start… I just started rehabbing some nagging injuries on my neck. I’m obviously finishing up the program with Neville, and it left me… they didn’t have anything solid for me creatively, so speaking with the doctors, that it was a good time to give me a little time off, let me rehab, get some strength back. I had lost some size. And I was looking forward to that and then I got a call actually the day after I started doing that and just said that there was nothing for me creatively and that was really it.

“I was just told they have nothing for me and they’re going to let me go. And I expressed that, obviously, that was unfortunate. I wasn’t completely surprised. I felt maybe from things leading up to it that that maybe the direction we’re going to head, but, hey man, that’s a business decision and the bottom line is I think I appreciate the opportunities that I was given there. I didn’t want to leave. I didn’t ask to be released. It never crossed my mind. I never had that conversation with anybody. I was more than happy to spend the time getting healthy and figuring out what they had for me next because, literally, I was happy to do whatever. I’ll go to NXT, put me as a mouthpiece, take me out of 205 [Live]. You can do anything with me. Like, I’m open and I’m at a point in my career where I’ve won championships, I’ve done all these things, and it’s cool, and I realized that I take pride in being a utility guy. Like, could you build Austin Aries to be the world champion? Well, yeah, you could. Right, but if you asked me, ‘would you build Austin Aries to be the world champion?,’ I’d go, ‘well, there [are] probably 10 other guys I’d do first, but could you do it with me? Sure, against the right opponent, with the right story and the right build, I can handle the load. I know, like, I have the talent, but I wouldn’t be the ideal choice and that’s not lost on me. Luckily for me, I can do a lot of things and be a valuable asset that has nothing to do with winning titles or championships or any of that, so that [has] never been an issue. It was a business decision and I respect that.

“There could or could not be more to that story and I will never know and it doesn’t really matter because you’re always the last one to find out anything anyway. So to worry about the things I’ve heard, or the speculation, or the things that have been written about me, man, I’m just going to go with the facts.”

PWInsider reports that former Knockouts champion Madison Rayne was at the WWE Performance Center this week.

Apparently WWE has been interested in Rayne since she showed up to a WWE taping in Nashville, Tennessee back in July. Madison quietly left Impact Wrestling a few months ago around the time Anthem purchased the company.

Serena Deeb and Austin Aries are two other names who have been at the WWE Performance Center recently.

Former WWE Women’s Champion Candice Michelle announced she would be returning for one last match at the upcoming House of Hardcore 36 event.

WWE Main Event Spoilers

Before Monday Night RAW went live from Music City, or simply Nashville, two matches were taped for this week’s WWE Main Event.

R-Truth defeated Curt Hawkins.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson defeated Rhyno and Heath Slater.

WWE Main Event airs on Hulu Plus.

Why Anderson and Gallows are being waste on Main Event, I have no clue. Throw Enzo and Cass and Big Show over there. That makes more sense than having a much-needed tag team off the flagship show.

New Book, New Aries Look

While RAW was dragging on tonight, former WWE superstar Austin Aries tweeted about his new book, “Food Fight,” and World Emoji Day, but the bigger news was the picture he included in the tweet.

Aries was released from his WWE contract on July 7. As Top Rope Press reported, in a statement a week after his release, Aries thanked the WWE for the opportunity with the company and commended the fans and people in front and behind the camera. Aries added he has “exciting announcements” coming soon.

Austin Aries Comments On WWE Release

Austin Aries, who was released from his WWE contract last week, has finally made a statement regarding the situation. There have been conficting reports on whether Aries asked for his release or not, but whatever the case, the two parties seem to be satisfied with their parting.

Ryback vs Warrior?

Dana Warrior, the widow of WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior, responded to Ryback’s claim regarding her husband. In the 46th episode of “Conversation with The Big Guy” podcast, Ryback alleged a WrestleMania 30 match was planned between him and The Ultimate Warrior. Ryback claimed WWE talent relations executive Mark Carrano showed him the early plans for WrestleMania, and it included Warrior vs. Ryback.

The Big Guy said he was excited for the match “because I figured it was his one last moment in WWE.” Although he was “cool” with the match idea, Ryback still didn’t think he was the right man for the match since he was unaware of Warrior’s in-ring shape. Despite such concerns, Ryback said he would have continued with the match since “I did everything that they asked of me there.”

On early Friday afternoon, Dana Warrior went on Twitter to respond to Ryback’s WrestleMania allegation. She rebuked his claim and added she was saddened when people lie to promote themselves.

The Ultimate Warrior was inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014, the same year as WrestleMania 30. He passed away three days after his induction.

Austin Aries Release

As we reported Friday, Austin Aries is no longer employed by WWE. Conflicting stories are now surfacing about the situation, with some saying Aries requested his release and others saying that that’s not the case. It’s now being reported that Aries signed a three-year deal last year, and though he did not ask to be released from that contract, he was thrilled when he was.

Aries is said to have had some heat backstage with the powers that be. He was not happy with the fact that his WrestleMania 33 preshow match with Neville was not included on the DVD (meaning that neither man received royalties). It’s also being rumored that the writing team for RAW and 205 Live didn’t like dealing with him.

Aries is under the standard 90-day no compete, so he won’t be free to work elsewhere without WWE’s express permission until October.

SmackDown Live Rap Battle

If you watched SmackDown Live on Tuesday, then you saw the Rap Battle between New Day and The Usos. You also heard the not-so-veiled reference that was made to the Xavier Woods/Paige scandal from earlier this year. From what we are finding out now, neither Woods nor New Day were aware that was going to happen beforehand.

Rapper Mega Ran, who was part of New Day’s entourage Tuesday night, had the following to say about the line and who knew what.

“Although the producers of the segment requested both teams send in their rhymes for the script, only The New Day obliged. The Usos showed theirs to one producer, but made a point to not let The New Day see their bars, which referenced a salacious story involving Woods.”

As we now know, WWE has since edited that line from the segment.

In a surpassing development, Austin Aries has been released from his WWE contract. On Friday night, it was announced by WWE that the company has “come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Austin Aries. WWE wishes Aries the best in all of his future endeavors.” The news was a surprise to fans who were originally expecting the WWE cruiserweight at the WWE Supershow at Madison Square Garden on Friday night. That is until it was announced fellow cruiserweight Cedric Alexander would replace him at the RAW-dominant show.

Aries’ departure comes as his girlfriend, Thea Trinidad, made her NXT debut a few weeks ago with Adrade “Cien” Almas.

There were no immediate signs that would have lead anyone to believe Aries was about to be release, but he did tweet the following on Friday.

Aries’ release comes several weeks after he was on the losing end of a feud against WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville, including a match at WrestleMania earlier this year. Aries appears to be happy about the release (perhaps he even requested it), and there’s no doubt he will have no trouble finding work and making good money on the independent circuit.
