Dave Meltzer mentioned in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Kevin Owen’s 365 special that aired on the WWE Network did HUGE numbers.

There was buzz surrounding the documentary before it was released that it would feature unseen footage of last year’s WrestleMania when Kevin Owens went to the backstage area to seek the approval of Vince McMahon after his match against Chris Jericho, only to get shut down by the WWE head honcho. Apparently a lot of people tuned into the show to witness it for themselves.

Ryback discusses the news that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been sent home from WWE’s UK tour. Apparently Owens and Zayn failed to execute their role correctly during last week’s Smackdown Live match between Zayn and Kofi Kingston. Ryback says he looked at the film from that match and he didn’t see much there to back up those reports.

He thinks that part of this story is definitely getting blown out of proportion, and he’ll be shocked if it’s confirmed that those two guys blatantly ignored orders. He says that performers aren’t going to ignore McMahon’s orders on purpose because it’s basically career suicide. Wrestling only works because the performers can trust each other, and once that trust disappears the business is in trouble.

He adds that as a performer, you can argue with Vince McMahon all day about certain creative decisions. However, once he puts his foot down and gives you your final instructions for that night, you have to do what your told.

Earl Hebner is done with Impact Wrestling, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Hebner left the company this week for the same reason that referees Robert King, Brian Stiffler and Hebner’s son Brian did. Apparently the company informed that the company would be using local referees while in Canada moving forward.

Hebner joins Rockett, Brian Stifler, Brian Hebner, Robert Moore, Rockstar Spud, Reno SCUM, Eddie Kingston and Taryn Terrell as the most recent departures.

While speaking to the Unsanctioned podcast, former WWE Superstar Ahmed Johnson talked about a backstage scuffle he had with The Rock. Apparently The Rock allegedly accused his mother of having an affair on his dad. Ahmed heard this remarks and it didn’t go over well with him, which led to the two getting into a fight backstage.

“What happened was, he was back in the locker room and I was already back there on the other side of the lockers, so, he couldn’t see me. And he walked in there with Triple H and Shawn, and they were all talking and they were making black jokes, and they didn’t know I was there. When Triple H said, ‘Man, we were joking Rocky, we were joking,’ and Rock said, ‘That’s okay, people look at me and think I’m black. I’m not black, man. My mom had an affair on my dad with a white man. That’s my dad. The white guy is my dad.’ He was serious as a heart attack. So I stepped from around the locker and said, ‘What you just say?’ He said, ‘Aw, aw, nothing, man, you know just here bulls–tting,’ and I said, ‘Yeah, I heard you over there selling that bulls–t, man. What did you say about your dad? You mean to tell me this man bust his ass for us to be in this federation, and you’re denying him?’ Then he got cocky and said, ‘Man, this ain’t none of your business’ Once he said that, we went for blows. After that, Ron Simmons and Papa Shango broke it up.”

You can listen to Ahmed’s remarks embedded in the video below:

X-Pac opens today’s show by saying he enjoyed the finale of the Mae Young Classic. He points out that some fans have suggested that the match should have been longer, but he thought the length was just fine. He adds that Shayna Baszler is still fairly green in the business and it’s tough to book longer matches with a newer talent like that, so he thought WWE made a good call by keeping the match short and sweet.

He feels that producing a show to highlight WWE’s Female talent is the next logical step in the Women’s revolution. Apparently Triple H was recently asked on a conference call about the possibility of this happening, and he refused to acknowledge it as a possibility. This confused X-Pac because he thinks it’d be a great idea.

X-Pac was very impressed with the closing segment of Smackdown Live last week, when Kevin Owens left Vince McMahon bloodied in the middle of the ring due to a headbutt. X-Pac is sure that McMahon told Owens to make that headbutt look believable, and Shane McMahon would often say the same thing years ago when he was working angles with X-Pac.

It was reported earlier this week via Dave Meltzer that segment on Monday’s episode of RAW that featured John Cena and Roman Reigns was heavily scripted.

In an update, Vince McMahon reportedly spoke with both men on what he wanted said. Apparently the only thing that wasn’t scripted was when Reigns forgot his line and Cena mocked him for it.

As noted in our podcast recap, Jerry Lawler was asked about this segment. Lawler said that Dave Meltzer doesn’t know know everything and he summarizes by saying, “Meltzer, what a little dweeb he is”.
