Mike Tenay Turns Down Offer for Impact Wrestling Return

Mike Tenay has reportedly turned down an offer to return to the announcers booth for Impact Wrestling.

According to the Wrestling Observer, with Jeremy Borash and Josh Mathews competing at the upcoming Slammiversary event, Impact wanted to have Tenay and Don West reunite and call the show. Tenay apparently turned the offer company down, which led to the Impact bringing in Robert Flores to work alongside West.

Several Backstage Notes on the Mae Young Classic

WWE will return to Full Sail University on July 13th and July 14th for the Mae Young Classic that will feature around 30 women wrestling in a tournament similar to the Cruiswerweight Classic.

While the company has already announced Jim Ross as one of the announcers for the event, it’s expected that the show will feature a female announcer too. It’s not known exactly who it will be, but it could possibly be Lita, Renee Young or someone completely new.

There will also be female referees for the tournament. Kennadi Brink debuted this past Thursday at an NXT Live Event as a referee, so it’s very possible that she will be one of them along with others.

We have also been informed that the backstage interviews and ring announcers are also expected to be women.

While no names have been confirmed for the tournament, Toni Storm, Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai are two of the latest names rumored for the two-day event.

We will keep you updated if we receive any more notes regarding the event.

Lita Returning to WWE?

As previously noted, Jim Ross will be one of the announcers for the upcoming women’s tournament that will be taped on July 13 and 14th. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Lita is being considered to join J.R. on the commentating booth.

While the show is being taped in July, there is no official announcement yet on when WWE plans to air the shows on the WWE Network. We will keep you updated.
