The Best Wrestling on the Planet returns to the Alamo City on Friday, November 17 for Night One of Survival of the Fittest! Your favorite ROH stars will compete in a three-night tournament to determine the 2017 Survival of the Fittest winner. The winner of this year’s tournament will get the customary ROH World Title shot at a later date and etch their name in the history books! Seven out of ten men that have won have gone on to either win the championship with their title shot or do so at a later date – winning ROH’s preeminent tournament has proved it can launch careers!

The Main Event for San Antonio has been signed and it is a first-time dream tag team match between a duo teaming for the first time in ROH versus former ROH World Tag Team Champions that have vowed to ruin everything wrestling fans love about ROH!

After 15 years, a man synonymous with Ring of Honor, Christopher Daniels achieved the pinnacle of his career, winning the ROH World Championship from Bullet Club’s Adam Cole. His tag team partner, Frankie Kazarian, infiltrated Bullet Club and provided the insurance Daniels needed, helping the duo maintain the moniker “The Smartest Men in the Room”.

Bullet Club hasn’t forgotten. And my has the script flipped on the Addiction.

“The American Nightmare” Cody defeated Daniels for the World Championship at Best in the World, bringing the title and, seemingly, all of the fans that supported Daniels on his journey to the championship to the side of Bullet Club. The Addiction’s actions, including comments about the fans that were so bad they could not air on television, did not endear themselves to anyone and they have promised to deprive wrestling fans of everything they love about Ring of Honor.

Anthem Sports is in Ottawa, Canada to tape upcoming episodes of Impact Wrestling. Here are the spoiler results, courtesy of Wrestling Inc:

* Eli Drake & Chris Adonis vs Petey Williams & Johnny Impact. Good match with the heels keeping Petey isolated for a long time. Impact gets the pin Adonis with Starship Pain. After the match, Alberto attacks Eli, lays him out and puts the World Title on him.

In between matches, there was a video for the Children’s Make A Wish Foundation, as there’s about 40 of the children here tonight. And Alberto’s new blonde groupie arrived after the match. There was a 20 year veteran, Jody Mitic, who lost both of his legs in Afghanistan, was honoured and was the guest ring announcer for the next match.

XPLOSION:

* Eddie Edwards vs Kaito Kiyomayi from Pro Wrestling Noah. Kaito’s chest a had mark from Eddie’s chops. There was a boy from the Make A Wish Foundation who was the guest bell keeper who prematurely rang the bell on a near fall by Eddie – he’s only about 7 or 8, so it happens! Lol. Eddie won with the Boston Knee Party.

IMPACT TAPINGS:

* Caleb Konley (w/ Trevor Lee) vs Taiji Ishimori. Ishimori wins the 450 splash. Trevor & Caleb try to beat down Taiji, but Desmond Xavier evens things up and they clear the ring.

* The second 3 way semifinal for the vacant KO’s title: Sienna vs Rosemary vs Allie. The faces work together early, but it didn’t last long. The finish came when Allie tried for a Code Breaker move, but Rosemary caught her with The Red Wedding to win and will face Laurel Van Ness for the belt.

* 6 man tag match: Alberto El Patron, Petey Williams & Johnny Impact vs. Chris Adonis, Eli Drake & Jimmy Jacobs, who calls himself “The Princess.” When Johnny comes down, Alberto grabs the ring announcer’s chair as if to protect himself. They’re taking on Jacobs says he’s not their partner, as he brings out Kongo Kong. Alberto eventually sort of turns on his team with a backstabber to Impact, but stays in the match. Kongo at one point grabs Petey to the outside and powerslams through a barricade by the ramp. Johnny appears to have the pin on Eli after Starship Pain, but Alberto pulls him out, DDTS him on the ramp and hits a Frog Splash to steal the pin for his team.

* OVE (w/ Sami Callahan). Callahan trashes Canada, Mexico, & AAA. He says they’re tired of L.A.X. & this feud will come to an end soon. TDT: (Dubois & St. Jacques) do a promo in French. Sami tells to speak American & one of them boot Callihan in the face. OVE get the numbers advantage, set up chairs in the ring to put one of DDT through them, but all of L.A.X. – except no Diamente – chase them off. Santana gets a Canadian flag to hold up along with the others.

* IMPACT GRAND TITLE MATCH: Matt Sydal vs EC3. Fallah Bahh is one of the judges, and is wearing a black suit jacket with no shirt and his wrestling trunks. EC3 dominates round 1 with power moves to win those round. Sydal does a lot of high spots to win round 2. Sydal goes for a Shooting Star Press late, but EC3 ducks & they both collide heads and stay down until the end of the round. The judge first judge award round 1 to Ethan, judge 2 to Matt, & Fallah Bahh declares it 10-10, so the match is a draw, but EC3 retains.

* Moose & “The Cowboy” James Storm vs. Lashley & Dan Lambert. All of American Top accompanied them. Lambert competed barefoot and did nothing except attempt pins. He never even took a punch or a bump. One of ATT – the one who has still has a neck brace – comes in the ring to stop the match, but he’s thrown out on top of the other guys by Storm. The distraction allows Bobby to get a spear; Lambert makes a blind tag and gets the cheap pin.

* Eli Drake & Chris Adonis are out. Eli complains about the weather in Ottawa. Apparently they’re supposed to be having a match in NJ, which Eli won and Eli’s scheduled for a match in Detroit for BCW (Border City Wrestling). Alberto comes down and wants a one on one match tonight with Drake. Johnny Impact comes down & says to tell the internet he’s going to be in Detroit too, then first attacks El Patron and then Drake and Adonis. Johnny holds the title to end the segment.

* KO match: Sienna vs KC Spinelli vs Madison Rayne vs Allie. Allie wins when Sienna goes for her finisher & rolls her up. I believe this a #1 contenders match.

* Trevor Lee & Caleb Konley vs Desmond Xavier & Taiji Ishimori. Ishimori continues to get the better of Trevor as he pins him with a rollup.

* Moose & James Storm promo. Moose says he’s sick of American Top Team interfering & asks Lashley to come down as he wants in a one on one match. Lashley & Lambert arrive and Bobby says he accepts Moose’s challenge but it’ll be on his terms. Storm then tells Lambert he respects Lambert for creating American Top team and that they’re the best MMA training facility, but he calls Dan a piece of crap. He wants a match with Lambert and if he wins, Dan and American Top Team have to leave Impact for good. Lambert counters by saying if he wins, this will be The Cowboy’s last match with the company; Storm agrees. As Bobby & Lambert leave KM tries to sneak attack Storm but he lays him out with The Last Call. I don’t know if KM’s teasing an alliance with ATT, but it seemed for him to appear.

* Rosemary vs Laurel Van Ness for the vacant Knockouts Title. Good long match aggressive match by the women. In the end, Rosemary is seated on the top turnbuckle and tries to spit mist on Laurel, but Laurel puts her hand up to Rosemary’s mouth to stop most of the mist from getting on her and rubs it into Rosemary’s eyes (the referee had been pushed out of the way Laurel just and didn’t see what happened). Laurel then fools up with an Unprettier with Rosemary still on the top rope to win her first KO’s title. They mentioned this airs on Dec. 14th.

* The last match off the night was Eli Drake defending The Impact World Title vs Alberto El Patron and Johnny impact in 6 sides of steel. The title could be won by pinfall or escaping the cage. (This was also a Genesis themed show, but they didn’t say when it would be airing). At one point Johnny was on top of the cafe and both men were down but he decided to do a huge cross body onto both men. Later on as he was trying to scale down the cage, he jumped but Chris Adonis caught him and held him as Eli climbed down first to retain. Alberto was down inside the cage and he couldn’t escape in time either.

We reported earlier this week that Kevin Owens was sent home from the South American tour for “personal reasons.”

Several websites apparently got his story mixed up with the stories of other WWE talents getting sick. Owens addressed his situation on Twitter and mentioned that he’s not sick or injured and needed to be home for his family.

Owens wrote, “I’m not sick. I’m not hurt. My family needed me home. Thank you to @WWE & the fans in Argentina & Chile for their support and understanding.”

Kairi Sane did an interview with NBC Sports recently after defeating Shayna Baszler to win the Mae Young Classic earlier this week. Kairi discussed her elbow drop finisher, her Mae Young Classic win, the difference between American and Japanese crowds and more. Here are a few highlights from the interview:

On her elbow drop finisher:

“I’ve been doing this for about six years now and at first the diving elbow drop did not work. I got injured and it wasn’t my finisher at first, but the move was important to me. I wanted to win using my elbow, so now it has become my form. It’s my favorite thing to do when I perform.”

Her reaction on winning the first-ever Mae Young Classic:

 “I was very proud of myself to be there as one of the finalists. It was surprising that I made it so far. I felt nervous, but it was such a happy day for me.”

 Differences between working in front of an American audience as opposed to a Japanese audience:

“I have to say American fans make me happier. I love their reactions. It’s very exciting and fun. It’s as if they’re fighting together with me.”

Global Force Wrestling is in Orlando, FL tonight to tape several episodes of Impact Wrestling. Here are the spoiler results:

* Xplosion: Ishimori defeated Suicide with the 450.

* Impact opening with a celebration from Eli Drake. Eli and Adonis come out. Eli is angry that it took this long to become GFW World Champion. Eli is still a heel character. Johnny interrupts Eli. Johnny is sick of hearing Eli run his mouth. Johnny had had more names than Eli has had championships. Eddie Edwards comes out. Eddie says in Impact he outranks Johnny. Eddie says he wants the championship again. Johnny doesn’t care who he has to beat. Jim Cornette comes out. Cornette makes a tag match between Adonis & Drake vs. Edwards & Impact. Whoever wins gets pin gets receives the title match. If Drake wins he doesn’t defend his championship.

* GFW Grand Championship: EC3 vs. El Hijo Del Fantasma. Judges are Dutch Mantel, Hector Guerrero & Scott D’Amore. EC3 hit the TK3 over the top rope dropping Fantasma on the apron & won Round One handily. Fantasma dominated with a Top Rope Rana, Frog Splash & La Tapatia & won Round Two. After a Hanging 1%er EC3 couldn’t make the cover before Round Three. D’Amore gives it to EC3, Dutch gives it to Fantasma & Hector gives it to Fantasma letting EC3 retain. Fantasma gets up in Hector’s face but decides against it. Fantasma gets help from a new source & they beat EC3 down until Edwards makes the save. The source is Pagano from AAA.

* OVE defeated Mario Bokara & Fallah Bahh when Dave Crist pinned Bokara after an Assisted Doomsday Cutter.

* Petey Williams pinned Caleb Konley(w/ Trevor Lee) after a Canadian Destroyer. An excellent match. Trevor attacked afterwards & Sonjay ran out for the save. They celebrated after Caleb & Trevor left. Supercop Dick Justice is now Standby Wrestler Richard Justice in Impact.

* Kongo Kong pinned Standby Wrestler Richard Justice after a Frog Splash. Kong grabbed the throat of Justice & here comes Mahabali Shera. They went at it until Shera cleared the ring of Kong.

* LAX are out once again without Homicide. EYFBO, Diamanté & Konnan at ringside for Low-Ki.

* Low-Ki vs. James Storm. Storm hit Last Call on Ki but Santana decks him with the Tag belt behind the refs back. Ki hits the Top Rope Double Stomp to win.

* Eli Drake & Chris Adonis defeated Johnny Impact & Eddie Edwards in a Long Match. Drake pinned Edwards after the Gravy Train to get the win & here comes American Top Team with Lashley. Colby Covington on the mic hyping up Lashley. Cornette makes the Drake defense next week against Matt Sydal.

I’ve mentioned before that I believe Chad Gable is destined for big things. I’ll say it again. He’s destined for big things. When WWE does decide to showcase him more, they’ll have to do it right. His first few opponents will play a very big role. Look at AJ Styles; by working with Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, and John Cena, he proved that he was ready to be a champion.

Gable, of course, will not be afforded the same treatment as AJ Styles. They will not let him feud with some of the company’s top stars right away. His opponents will still matter, though. They will need to bring out the best in the former Olympian and help him showcase his talent. I believe these three people will do just that.

Dolph Ziggler

Yes, I would very much like it if Dolph “Heat Vacuum” Ziggler fought with Mr. Chad. Why would I want Ziggler, the man who had a stinker of a match with Shinsuke Nakamura (at the latter’s debut, no less), to feud with the former Tag Team Champion? It’s quite simple.

Ziggler is a former amateur wrestler as well. A quick Wikipedia check reveals that he once set the record for most victories for Kent State University. Between 2000 and 2003, he won 121 times. He’s also a three-time All-Mid-American Conference champion. Not bad. In fact, it’s very good.

A fight against Gable would bring out Dolph’s more technical, mat-based style. The whole style in general is not something we see too much of in WWE. It would be a fresh encounter, and Ziggler the veteran can help Chad improve what he needs to. With both men grappling and actually wrestling, it would make for a fun contest. It won’t be Kurt Angle v. Brock Lesnar, but it’ll be something.

X-Pac opens today’s show speaking about Shane McMahon’s forced helicopter landing from last week. He says that it didn’t surprise him for a second that Shane came out of that incident uninjured, and it was amazing to see how calm Shane was when he was being interviewed after the fact.

Speaking about last Monday night’s revelation that Jason Jordan is Kurt Angle’s son, X-Pac says for a minute he thought the whole thing might have been a shoot. He says that Angle is known to have had relationships with African American women in the past, and the age gap definitely works out.

X-Pac welcomes Kevin Kiley Jr. (Alex Riley) to the show.

Riley says that he was always a big fan of X-Pac from his time in WWE during the attitude era, and X-Pac always came off as a very real character who had a natural confidence in himself. X-Pac thanks him and says that he was never one to cut a masterful promo, but he was able to make his character work in different ways.

Riley informs that after he parted ways with WWE he immediately wanted to pursue acting. He says that his short stint at broadcasting in NXT was fun, but at the end of the day he wanted to venture out on his own. He was lucky to garner some interest in Hollywood right away and he soon landed a role in the Netflix series GLOW.

It looks like the American Alpha team is done for good after Jason Jordan was revealed to be Kurt Angle child on Monday’s episode of RAW.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Jason Jordan will receive a solid midcard level push on the RAW brand and will not be returning to the SmackDown Live brand. His former American Alpha partner Chad Gable will not be making the switch to RAW anytime in the near future either, so the team is basically done at this point.

In regards to the on-air relationship between Kurt and Jason, it’s being said that the two are expected to have lengthy storyline over the next few months as the Olympic athlete tries to be a father figure for Jason.

Alberto El Patron, who is supposed to be suspended from Global Force Wrestling over the recent allegations, is being advertised for an upcoming event for the company at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on August 6th in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

“A loaded lineup of IMPACT WRESTLING stars will be in Bridgeport. Anything can and will happen once the action starts, in and out of the ring. The city of Bridgeport, Fairfield County and the state of Connecticut have great wrestling tradition, we are excited in our 15th anniversary to be there this Summer as part of the Bridgeport Bluefish’s 20th anniversary season,” said Jeff Jarrett.

The lineup for the event features Bobby Lashley, Patron, EC3, “Cowboy” James Storm, Eli Drake, the Latin American Exchange and more. All fans in attendance will receive a commemorative trading card set of five Impact Wrestling stars. Plus, there will be a pre-show VIP Meet & Greet for select ticket holders.

“We are thrilled to bring this exciting show to the ballpark in August,” said Bluefish General Manager Paul Herrmann. “We love being able to offer our city more than just baseball during the gorgeous summer months.
