Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host, Jeff Lane.

Lane mentions that Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer spoke out this past week, criticizing WWE fans who’ve attended recent shows for being quiet and “dead”. Russo says it’s hard to blame the crowd when they’re just going to see a good show, and it’s not their fault if WWE isn’t providing them that.

Alvarez went on to say that Ric Flair had a great career, but Okada has broke the “Observer scale” with 5 and 6-star ratings several times this past year. He says that we’re living through history right now, and there’s no denying that Okada is “the best”. Russo has no idea what history Alvarez is talking about, and he thinks it’s a joke that Alvarez compared Okada to Ric Flair. Russo adds that he wouldn’t be able to pick Okada out in a lineup.

Lastly, Alvarez spoke about Samoa Joe’s promo work, saying Joe is a much better promo than The Miz. Meltzer then agreed, saying Joe constantly cuts great promos and he delivers the goods whether the material is good or bad. Russo disagrees, saying Joe has no range and he cuts the same one-dimensional promo over and over again. Russo worked with Joe in TNA and can speak first hand about this.

While discussing the RAW 25th Anniversary show on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that this Monday’s event is supposed to be bigger than the RAW after WrestleMania.

“I’ve been told that at least in terms of production and individuals being brought in and ideas and pitches RAW 25 will be bigger than the traditional night after WrestleMania RAW,” Alvarez explained.

“Will you like it better? I don’t know, that’s up to you. But the way they’re putting it together it is a bigger event and higher priority than the post-Mania RAW.”

As seen on WWE programming, Kane recently got wins over both Finn Balor and Seth Rollins. The reason behind these victories is WWE is trying to build Kane up as an unstoppable force (again) before he eventually loses to Braun Strowman. The belief is that the match is likely to be held off until December but not before Kane beats another top WWE Superstar, presumably Dean Ambrose.

Bryan Alvarez speculated on the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Live that on his way out, Kane will not only get destroyed by all members of The Shield but Finn Balor will possibly get a rematch as well and get his win back over Kane.

We reported earlier today that Roman Reigns has not been cleared to return to action and will not be on tonight’s episode of RAW.

Bryan Alvarez discussed Reigns’ status on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live and indicated that Reigns will return to WWE programming on the November 13th episode of RAW.

As noted, Reigns will also not be part of the upcoming UK tour but the company is hopeful Reigns will return in time for next month’s Survivor Series event. Reigns was originally set to be the RAW Team Captain, but those plans can change between now and Survivor Series.

As previously noted, WWE is planning on celebrating 25 years of RAW on the January 22nd, 2018 episode of the show.

Bryan Alvarez discussed the celebration on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live and mentioned that the event will be an “all hands on deck” episode. Alvarez speculated that the company will bring several WWE Superstars of the past to make an appearance on that show.

The event will take place at the held in Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center and WWE has plans to release a DVD in celebration of the 25 years.

Apparently there was some sort of technical difficulties at Tuesday’s SmackDown Live taping in Seattle, Washington at the Key Arena.

Bryan Alvarez, who was live in attendance, mentioned on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live that Daniel Bryan’s backstage segment with Kevin Owens and Sami Sayn didn’t show up on the tron to the audience in attendance. When Bryan announced that Shane McMahon would be returning to SmackDown Live next week, the fans were told to standby and replays where showing instead. Alvarez said there was some sort of timing issue and that’s the reason the fans didn’t see the announcement.

It was reported on Monday that Paige was at the WWE Performance Center training for her comeback.

Bryan Alvarez discussed Paige’s status on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live and provided further details on her return. Alvarez said that Paige was evaluated at the Performance Center and her neck checked out just fine. She is expected to return at any time now.

In regards to which brand Paige will be on, it’s very possible now that she is brought to the SmackDown Live brand instead of RAW because Asuka is headed to RAW.

Bryan Alvarez mentioned on Wrestling Observer Live that Dolph Ziggler mocking past and present WWE Superstars will eventually build to a match between Bobby Roode and Ziggler in the coming weeks. Alvarez speculates that Ziggler will mock Roode’s entrance, which will set up the match between the two.

WWE is currently advertising Ziggler vs. Roode at the upcoming WWE Starrcade event that will take place at the Greenboro Coliseum on November 25th. This could be an indication that the feud between the two could be a long-term one and not just a one-off match.

As previously noted, WWE announced that they would be bringing back the “Starrcade” name for their upcoming SmackDown event during Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, November 25th in Greensboro, N.C.

Bryan Alvarez discussed WWE’s decision to bring the event back on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live and mentioned that the show will only be a live event that will not be broadcasting live on the WWE Network. Alvarez indicated that the company brought the event back to help counter ticket sales from a legends event that is being held in the area that weekended.

Lane plays a clip of Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez talking about a Title Belt being on the line between Mayweather & McGregor. Meltzer says that was simply preposterous, and Alvarez agreed saying it was  silly for a Title to be on the line in that fight. Russo points out that these guys think it’s silly when a belt is on the line in a real fight, but they spend their days talking about fake Titles which are on the line during fake fights.

Lane says that Dave Shearer went on record last week saying if Brock Lesnar wants to fight for UFC again WWE should sever ties with him. There’s also no way he’d let Lesnar wear the Universal Title to a UFC event. He says that WWE let him fight for UFC once and it was a mistake, so he wouldn’t let it happen again.

Russo says that these marks look at wrestling as a shoot and not as a business. Russo says McMahon would be an idiot to refuse to let Lesnar wear the Universal Title to a UFC event, where millions of people will be watching.
