Switch! Surprise Turn Takes Place With NXT Title Implications

There’s the twist. There are a lot of ways to set up a feud in wrestling and some of them have been used for years. Those stories are often some of the most interesting and have a tendency to work almost every time. It makes sense for promotions to use them over and over again and we saw another classic dusted off this week. As a bonus, multiple titles were involved.

The main event of this week’s NXT featured Roxanne Perez challenging Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Title. At the start of the show, someone attacked Perez in the parking lot, leaving the match in doubt. Perez did make the match, but her partner Cora Jade turned on her, allowing Rose to retain the title. Jade attacked Perez again after the match to end the show. Perez and Jade are the reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, having wont he titles last week.

Opinion: It’s a story you have probably heard before and that is not a bad thing. What matters most is having something interesting and even though Jade’s turn was a bit telegraphed, it was still a story that worked out. Now we need the explanation for the whole thing, and that should set up the showdown between the two of them. Throw in the titles as a bonus and we could be in for something good.

What did you think of the turn? What happens to the titles? Let us know in the comments below.
