That would have been different. Three years ago, the Coronavirus pandemic turned the world upside down and things have only recently returned to mostly normal. There were several changes made to almost everything around the world, including WWE. The company kept going during the pandemic, but it turns out that one show almost did not get to wrap up. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: WWE Star Shows Off Remarkable Physical Transformation The 2020 Money In The Bank event featured a unique version of the show’s namesake match, with both the men and women fighting at the same time at WWE’s corporate headquarters. During a recent live signing with East Coast Autograph Auctions, former WWE star Nia Jax revealed that the Governor of Connecticut almost shut the match down, with police coming to the building. Despite that, WWE was able to finish filming and shoot the match as planned. It was a unique match. Check out how..
That wraps it up. Wrestlers have a lot to deal with on a regular basis and that isn’t even taking into account things outside of the ring. In addition to wrestling, they often have to deal with the same kinds of problems that normal people have to face. Sometimes those things are especially serious, like a problem that an AEW star seems to have taken a step towards overcoming. Dynamite Date: February 1, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We are about a month away from Revolution and that means it is time to start hammering down the card. You can probably guess a good bit of it from here and that is a strong sign for the show. This week will feature a pair of title matches, including Jade Cargill’s latest conquest and Samoa Joe getting his rematch for the TNT Title. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page Moxley comes through the crowd with Wheeler Yuta and….his own father. Moxley starts the fight in the crowd and takes it into the audience as we are waiting on the opening bell. Page gets in a whip into a barricade and they keep brawling back to ringside. Moxley wraps the chair around Page’s leg but Page throws said chair at Moxley to take over. They finally get in the ring and slug it out, with Moxley’s eye busted open. Moxley is fine enough to grab an armbar but Page is back up ..
He’s no longer feeling Ucey. Jey Uso took to Instagram earlier today and posted a cryptic message, following the events of last night’s Royal Rumble premium live event. Jey simply wrote, “I’m out” with a red teardrop and an image of him just before he left the ring after the rest of The Bloodline destroyed Sami Zayn. You can see the post below: View this post on Instagram A post shared by FATU (@uceyjucey) From our own Thomas Hall: Post match Jey goes to give Sami his own lei but Reigns says hang on a second. The big beatdown is on Owens, with a chair being wrapped around his neck in the corner. Solo Sikoa hits the running Umaga Attack as commentary wants someone to do something about this. Reigns busted out the handcuffs as Sami is looking more and more uncomfortable. Owens is cuffed to the rope so the Usos can superkick him over and over. The fans chant for Sami as Reigns picks up the chair. Reigns talks a lot but Sami FINALLY gets in front of him before the swing. Sami says Owe..
That’s a big one. Vince McMahon is back in charge of WWE and that has led to a string of questions about what is coming next. No one is quite sure about where things are going in the future, but there is also the question of a variety of issues from McMahon past. Now though, he has wrapped up at least one of them with the help of his rather large bank account. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It Was A Great Ride: WWE Hall Of Famer Parts Ways With Company According to the Wall Street Journal, McMahon has agreed to a multi-million dollar settlement with former WWE referee Rita Chatterton, who has accused McMahon of raping her in a limousine in 1986. McMahon’s lawyer, Jerry McDevitt, said that still denies the charges and settled with Chatterton to avoid the cost of a trial. There is no word on the exact amount paid, but it is said to be a lump sum followed by annual payments. This is the latest in a string of such payments to women who have accused McMahon of sexual misconduct. Payoffs have a h..
You have to hang it up sometime. Wrestling is a unique sport in that the wrestlers can have trouble getting out of the industry. Since they are always able to wrestle one more time, it can be easy to stick around that much longer. For other people involved in the industry, getting away is a bit easier, and now a wrestling legend sounds like he is considering wrapping up his career. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s A Hot One: How A Former WWE Star (Literally) Set Backstage On Fire During a recent edition of his What Happened When podcast, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone talked about how Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the days he travels for AEW, “kind of wear” him out. At no point did Schiavone say that he was retiring or considering retiring. Schiavone debuted with AEW at its launch and has provided commentary since. Schiavone is a legend. ..
Comeback? Wrestling is a unique sport as you do not know when someone might wrap up their career for good. On occasion you will see someone return after a long time away from the ring, even for a one off appearance. It can be fascinating to see someone make a comeback after years away from the ring, and now another former star is teasing a possible return to the ring. Dynamite Date: December 21, 2022 Location: Freeman Coliseum, San Antonio, Texas Commentators: Taz, Excalibur, Ricky Starks It’s the Holiday Bash and that means we are about to wrap up the year in a big way. That should make for a good week, but you never know what you are going to see around here. Last week saw Bryan Danielson seemingly line himself up as the next challenger to MJF so let’s get to it. We open with a recap of MJF cheating to retain the World Title over Ricky Starks. Here is Ricky Starks to get things going. He makes one thing clear: he was ready for MJF last week and it took some cheating to beat him, but Starks is going to be even more ready next time. Now bring him whoever he needs to beat to get another title shot, but here is the Jericho Appreciation Society to interrupt. Jericho praises Starks and says he’ll be a World Champion one day. It just won’t be anytime soon, but maybe Starks just needs some extra guidance from Jericho. Starks says Jericho looks like a ..
How to wrap things up. We are getting very close to the end of the year and than means it is time to look back at everything that happened over the course of 2022. WWE has had quite a collection of memorable moments and some of them are worth at least one more look. That is what we are going to be getting as WWE will be presenting a special edition of Monday Night Raw. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: BREAKING: Former NXT Champion Makes Surprise Return On Monday Night Raw It was announced this week on Monday Night Raw that next week’s December 26 edition will be the “Absolute Best Of 2022”, featuring highlights and clips from throughout the year. That’s a better system. NXT has been a game changer for WWE, as the company now has its own developmental system to grow the next generation of talent. That is a rather important effort to make work and the right kind of process needs to be included. The process has been an issue over the years, but now things might be changing in a positive way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Thank Goodness: Jim Ross Reveals How He Saved WWE Hall Of Famer’s Life During a recent edition of his Oh. You Didn’t Know podcast, WWE executive Road Dogg talked about the changes in the process to call wrestlers up from NXT to the main roster. Dogg said that under Triple H’s regime, there will likely be a better method of bringing a star up, as Triple H understands the idea of wrapping things up for someone in NXT. There were previously issues of wrestlers being called up with no notice, leaving NXT stuff with loose ends and no closer to character arcs. NXT has been doing well as of late. Check out some of their rece..
It’s a gig. Wrestlers are often compared to actors and the comparison makes some sense. While wrestlers are athletes, they are in pre-determined situations that can be seen as a performance. However, wrestlers do not always have the best luck when it comes to transitioning into acting. You do see it happen every now and then though, and now a top star is going to be trying his hand at another acting role. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In: AEW Contract Status Of Former WWE Star According to Deadline.com, AEW’s Chris Jericho has landed a new movie role in a wrestling themed horror film called “Dark Match”. It’s time to wrap up the Ring Of Honor year with its third event, as Final Battle closes us out. As you might expect, this is mainly going to be about AEW stars as Ring Of Honor is less a promotion than a really big and loosely connected angle on AEW TV at the moment. We have a double main event of FTR defending the Tag Team Titles against the Briscoes in a double dog collar match, plus Claudio Castagnoli challenging Chris Jericho for the Ring Of honor World Title. Yeah that should work. Let’s get to it. Zero Hour: Jericho Appreciation Society vs. Shinobi Shadow Squad This is one of the several added matches to flesh out the card, or in this case the card that happens before the card. The Squad is one of those teams who pops up all the time in Ring Of Honor but rarely gets to do anything important. In other words, they are perfect to face a pair of goofs like Menard and Parker in a match with absolutely nothing at stake in a spot like this. In what is probably going to be a trend, I’..
She’s in too? There have been a lot of returns to WWE in recent months and there is nothing to suggest that they are wrapping up. While a lot of names have been around, it can also lead to some interesting theories about who might be on their way back next. This time, a former WWE talent is teasing a return of her own, which might take you a bit by surprise. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Wrestling Legend On Who Could Take Brock Lesnar In A Bar Fight One of the recent rumored returns to WWE is Chelsea Green, who has been part of Impact Wrestling, where she had teamed with Deonna Purrazzo. After the rumors of Green’s WWE return, Impact Wrestling’s Purrazzo sent out a tweet asking if Green had “room at home for” her, though there is no direct mention of WWE whatsoever. Purrazzo worked for WWE as part of the NXT brand from 2014-2022, as well as Ring Of Honor and on the independent circuit. There is no word on any communication between WWE and Purrazzo so far. Hey @ImChelseaGreen, you go..
Smackdown Date: December 2, 2022 Location: KeyBank Center, Buffalo, New York Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We are done with Survivor Series and on the long road to the Royal Rumble, as there is somehow no major event between now and the end of January. That is a lot of time to fill and first up we are probably going to be seeing the Bloodline celebrate their WarGames win. Other than that, the World Cup wraps up this week so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here is most of the Bloodline to get things going. After a WarGames recap, Sami Zayn praises the Usos but Jimmy cuts him off, saying tonight is about Zayn. On Saturday, Zayn was the MVP and the fans were chanting SAMI USO (as they do here). Jey says he didn’t like Sami for a long time but now Zayn has earned his respect and they won WarGames because of him. Jimmy asks Sami how he’s feeling and that would be pretty FREAKIN UCEY. We get a three way special handshake between the Usos and Zayn, who even dances a bit. Cue ..
Dynamite Date: November 30, 2022 Location: Indiana Farmers Coliseum, Indianapolis, Indiana Commentators: Excalibur, Taz, Tony Schiavone We’ll wrap up the month here as MJF should be here for the first time as World Champion. That alone should be a heck of a moment, but we also need to get more of the build towards Final Battle out of the way. There isn’t much set for the show but that should change this week. Let’s get to it. Here is Jon Moxley to get things going. He talks about working to get here and what a wild ride it has been. There are three constants in life: death, taxes and Jon Moxley. No one can out work him, out fight him, out wrestle him or anything else. There is not one man who has the guts to come out here and tell him any different….and here is the returning Hangman Page. Moxley asks if Page wants to do this after what happened, if he can remember it. Page comes up swinging and the fight is on, with referees and security needing multiple attempts to break it up. Bry..
He deserves a break. This year has been a very eventful one in the wrestling world and there is nothing to suggest that those changes are wrapping up anytime soon. The biggest change of them all has been Vince McMahon retiring from WWE after decades in charge. McMahon doing something other than running WWE seems hard to fathom and now we have a better idea of what he is doing now that he is away from the company. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Upgrade: Health Update On Missing Wrestling Legend According to Fightful Select, WWE sources have said they do not hear from McMahon very much these days. Instead, McMahon has reportedly been out more often than when he was running WWE. This included a birthday party with some WWE superstars earlier this year, plus being seen at a restaurant with a woman in New York City last month. McMahon left WWE in July. McMahon was a major part of the company. Check out some of his moments with WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains..
